  1.  It`s virtually impossible to learn trials correctly without some help from another rider that knows how t ride proper. By yourself you will devolop bad habits that will be hard to resolve. First and foremost is a proper turn on flat ground, then on a hill and then figure 8`s with multi off cambers. When and only when you are doing well you throw some ledges and then mix in some rollers. Splats and zaps will be the last things you need to learn as a roll up has to become automatic as 90% of anything you can ride will be easily conquered with this most basic move. Then the next step is the double blip which cause most people to just give up as there are too many things happening at once.

Again riding with trials riders and competing will speed your progress 10 fold vs by yourself.

  2. The proven setup is 9/44 Super low first. 2nd becomes the most used gear. And 3rd is almost identical to the stock 2nd gear. Being a 6 speed it does not lose much top speed.

  3.  All three of them handle oem parts. Fact is its faster to order from the uk and cheaper. The only part I would order from a Honda dealer would be the fenders for free shipping. I have done this for years. Best to use the part numbers from your manual.

Thanks, but they do not handle Factory OEM parts for the trials Cota 300 (although they seem to have parts OEM parts for every other model). Still looking for a place in America that keeps Origional Equipment Parts in stock.

Partszilla, trials super store or the best is the splatshop in the u.k.

  4. It`s all piece by piece and expensive. Also not very easy. Could be a broken intake boot as they are a problem. If its running good otherwise, the muffler could probably need repacked/replaced.

I purchased a 2023 300 Gas Gas txt Gp in the USA. Is it possible to covert it to a 250 by putting on a 250 cylinder, head and piston on it. My issue with the bike is it has to much compression for me to start it. I can start it but during the course of a trials event it it wears me out. I’m a 66 year old intermediate rider that weighs 150. Im not concerned about power, I just want to make it easier to kick. I would b open to any other suggestions like a low compression head etc….

You are wasting your time. Sell it and buy a Beta 200 or a 250.

  6.  The master cylinder is probably junk. If you had a good brake guy, he could clean up the surface inside and just use a rebuild kit. Myself I would buy a new m/c and start over. I dislike what is normally the quota flow. There are several after market options. Nissin and a few others are available, but pricey and not a whole kit. I threw away the braktec`s on my Montesa 301 as I had been down this path before ( I still have a nissin m/c to an ajp caliper as a spare} I run the large ajp m/c to the TRS gold front caliper. Strong and dependable. You don`t want to ask about my clutch. LOL

  7. I have to agree with Dan. Beta rear brakes have always flat out sucked compared to the other brands. It`s almost like they had an engineer had no desire to make the brake any better than on or off. maybe the later model years have gotten better. I gave up on Beta when the next Gen model never happened. It would be tough to get me off my Montesa. But I just bought a lightly used 2016 250 for my grandson. (Novice rider owned.)  Who knows I could be back to Beta by the end of the year.

  8.  Now I get it. I forgot you basically run your own club. Go forward with what is working for you. Our local club has never followed the NATC  as far as marking our local events. We keep it real simple. Yellow paper with black arrows for section splits and two colored ribbon for loop markers. Marking a National for the NATC is crazy amount of work in comparison. Hundreds of stakes are needed.  Just from a safety stand point. Stakes should never be used. Let alone having to ride around a loop with a back pack full of them. I miss the old days of just having flags just stuck in my boots!

By the way we don`t just ride desert. Half of the year we ride in the mountains. We have been lucky enough to use several ski area`s over the years. Which the main ski lodge makes a great place for the pits to be run from. Good luck with your section building.

Good, now somebody can explain what class I should ride in this year and what colour arrows I should be using because Black arrows is not going to cut it.  CMA show 13 rider classes that will require a minimum of 3 riders per class for any event results to count, which would be fine if the average CMA trial could draw 80 riders but reality is that half that number of riders would be a significant improvement in turnout.  Four separate Veteran classes 🤨 seriously! plus a Women class 🤔 so now we have a class for every age, gender and ability imaginable.  This rule book was definitely written by somebody not in touch with reality, we (the people that actually put on CMA national events) adopted NATC arrow schema years ago, the rule book still refers to red on right and blue on left.

We went to the NATC crap like 12 years ago. Red on the right and blue on the left is way better than NOT being able to see the ribbon when it snows or hails. We are in New Mexico, but ride high elevation in the summer. Any of our events all year long can be in snow!!! White ribbon is for idiots! We finally went back to red and blue a few years back. Now if you like orange go for it. But when you are in a section and you have red on the right, you might just be going in the right direction.

Now the NATC needs to get the back up rule fixed before April!!!

  10. It was the same type system through the 93- 98 I believe. I think I still have some bruchures and litature laying around in my filing cabinet from those years. At that time all I knew was about dot 4 or dot 5 since that is what Snell used to push in the Gas Gas bikes in the states.

  11. Just like the 95 section ran like crap until they came out with a new intake manifold at the correct angle. The 95 thermo stats never worked, so we wired the fan to run all the time.

95 was also a bad year for gas gas. The fork seal holder was replaced on all the bikes. The first National was quite interesting that year. Fantic had a line for intake manifolds and Gas Gas for the seal holders.

Mineral oil in a AJP clutch in 1994/1995 , really!  who used  mineral oil in a clutch in 1994/95  have you got any actual information you can provide to back that up ,  I would like to see it. I will be glad to apologise for misleading the OP when you provide the 249r manual or a site page showing that AJP clutch master cylinders and slaves were using mineral fluid in 1994/95..

Yeah, the Fantic came out with a hydraulic clutch on the 93 model. It originally had a trials bicycle brake master cylinder and they sent out Ajp's with the dot 4 scratch out with no instructions. I was a Fantic dealer. Lucky me I was the first guy in the states that had to source the inner seal.
