So is the magnet/wrist strap on the handlebar. Seems I see no comment of having spark. I have a friend that bought one and it starts as easy as most 2 strokes. ( I have had a Gas Gas that WAS hard to start.)
Why not go down another tooth on the front. And you might want to learn how to use the clutch. In trials we use it every single second. The chain tensioner is not the problem.
Yeah, any upgrade you want 05 and newer. 2002 through 2004 was terrible years for the pro engine. No matter who says it. The pro motor when running is an incredible trials motor. It just had many issues to overcome.
So whats the dealer say that you ordered them from? But it will be a battle as alot changed through the years and the 2002 was basically a proto type as everything was crap at best.
You just crashed. Did you change the plug? Did you damage the kill switch? Are you sure you just did not flood the engine. Falling should not cause an ignition problem.
There is a reason the Beta is the top selling Bike in the World, 2 stroke wise. The Gasser and Trs feel great in the parking lot. The Sherco is cursed again with FI.
The Montesa is built like a rock, but you do feel the weight.
The top hat holds the spring in place at the end of the shift shaft under the clutch basket. It is made to shear to save the shift shaft. Otherwise you might need a new shift shaft.
The decompressor is a little tiny (spring loaded) weight that is built right onto the camshaft. The valve clearance is the only adjustment. It's a one shot decompressor, if it don't work on the first rotation it won't work. It's on there so that the engine can complete 2 rotations of the crankshaft and start the fuel pump pumping. All you are really doing to start the 4RT engine is to spin it up to idle speed, you don't want to jab at the kick starter like a 2-stroke.
Once running the engine will lug down well below the idle start speed before it goes Ker-Puck! and flames out.
100LL avgas contains Tetraethyl Lead ☠️
... curious why the 2022 models would have fuel pump problems after they have gone so many years without significant changes.
Absolute best way to trouble-shoot a 4RT problem is to own 2 of them and swap assemblies until you find something that fails.
They went to a new pump in 2016. Must have changed suppliers in 2022.
Have you installed a tach on your bike? That is the easiest way to keep it running right. I keep my 301 running between 1950 and 2150 idle after warm up. You also have to reset the ecu first.
We have just the opposite. I think we had the 3rd hottest July, and our event tommorrow got canceled one week ago due to fire danger. Phoenix just finnished 31 days over 110 degrees. We are used to cold nights, usually low 50's rhis time of year. Lately it has been above 70 at 5 a.m
The magnet is a very dumb device. It can fly off with a hard hit, a small branch, bush, or just waving at your friends wife.
I tossed mine right away and run a real teather and a kill switch. The NATC has changed the rule from being a wrist strap device. I prefer it attached at the waist. No accidental fives and I am hands free.
My bikes on the left and I changed the strap out to a short red one. I cand buy the lanyards online 2 for 10 dollars.
Actually it was on the 2004 Raga. Originally they changed to the green lid in the clutch m/c. But anything can happen to a bike during several decades.
