Done the flywheel side and the cush drive is loose ready to take off but i cant get the basket off , i have removed the nut but not sure if the basket just pulls off with a puller its got a sort of washer/ nut thats round behind the nut and locking washer that looks like it needs to be un screwed ???? thanks for any help you may have . cheers martin

  13. Hi woody yes it is the bike from e bay , rear loop looks as though its been shortend at some time ,the brake has been moved to the right which is handy cos i am used to my gasser .Forgot to mention it also had a new pair of betor shocks fitted !!! I will post some pics if i can figure out how to post em. Oil change and sort the carb settings in the morning Thanks for the advice martin
  14. Thats great thanks for that but where do you fill it ? i can only think its the clutch acess panel on the left as you sit on the bike . Got it going today drained old fuel and stripped carb and cleaned it [mikuni] is this standard on a 1974 mar . It sounds realy crisp but not set up right yet not sure how many turns out mixture or other screw?? . When i took it to bits the frame had a whitehawk sticker on it not whitlock ? someone has spent a lot of time and money on it , its been stood a while and the clutch freed up in a couple seconds!! , no rust on the wheels not even on the nipples/ ss spokes hubs are also in great nick and the brakes work great, not a trace of rust on the forks .Realy pleased with it a bargain @
  15. Thanks for that great site
  16. Just got me a 250 mar with a whitlock ? frame , not running yet but has a spark just needs the carb cleaning i think fuel smells a bit old . Does any one know how much and what gearbox oil to use and does 50-1 synthetic sound ok ? I had one of these back in 1981 and cant wait to get it going and try a couple of twinshock trials . Any help or advice would be very welcome as i havnt got a clue about older bikes . cheers martin
  17. Thanks for your reply, on checking further i think it may well be premix oil as you say .PHEW.
  18. Hi there just stripped top end to fit a new piston kit and small end to my 06 250 pro because of low ,ish compression and a bit of noise top end , and noticed when i push kickstart down and rotate conrod transmission oil is visible . Is this normal for the pro as i recall an earlier post saying that the mains are lubed by trans oil but not sure .The bike didnt smoke much and didnt smell like it was burning ATF . Cheers for any help

    Premix Oil

Has anyone used putoline strawberry scented premix oil ? is it any good ? says on the add its synthetic , so i thought i might give it a go
  23. Hi manx 2day , I got round it by first fitting the smaller hose ,put the clip[ original] as low on the pump outlet as you can then stretch to meet the cylinder inlet/outlet then i fitted the other one with the clip as high as possible on the pump inlet/outlet and stretch`d to fit to rad .This was the clip that broke when the bike got to normal temp so i replaced with a jubilee clip . When you try again i would ring GasGas and get some new clips first ! cos that broken clip realy got me thinking !!!! so i am going to replace all the clips with new ones before my next trial. Hope this helps ps I used a small screwdriver pushed in to the little hole in the clip to open it as advised in the first reply to my post , for doing up i found water pump pliers the only thing i had with enough leverage to do the job .cheers martin
