  1. CET Central European Time is one hour ahead of GMT Grenwich Mean Time
  2. Pretty close at least since the early sixtys that i know of. Compounds and construction have changed along the way since the God awful Dunlop trials universal and at one point i do remember a return to 350 x 18 rears was suggested as the tyres were getting too good. Perhaps the time has come to look at that again?
  3. With us at Peak Classic they do all ride in the same class. Only differentation is Clubman route, Intermediate route or Expert route. It's even been known, Martin Stanistreet at the last round, for a British Bike rider to deliberately enter the normal Twinshock class against Fantics Majesty's etc and beat them !!!! Look forward to seeing you Dave at some of our rounds especially those other than at Bracken Rocks which i know you are a bit partial too
  4. Dont forget to post some piccys too Sounds an interesting project.
  5. Know what you mean about going round in circles "I'm wondering what the difference is between Pre65 and the Specials class?" Fork gaitors ? Brian i am astounded that there isnt one set of rules, see my earlier reply , applied by ALL clubs. That was the reason indirectly i started the thread in the first place. "Is British Twinshocks and the Specials class the same thing?" No the difference is British Twinshocks would be more honest about the parts you use with no need to hide components under expensive "stealth" outer clothing. Whatever we more that anything need a universally accepted spec for Pre65 and or British Twinshocks but the problem is that every club thinks their way is the only way and are so entrenched they dont want to change for whatever reason vested or otherwise.
  6. They are what they are because that is what the rule book dictates the tread should be. Simple as that! Could improvements be made ? Obviously. Would you be allowed to use them ? Obviously not unless the rule book was changed and that aint gonna happen unless it is to make them grip even LESS which has been proposed. Dont really get your arguement as everybody has to use the same tyre pattern. Just learn to ride your bike if you want more grip. Assuming you ride in competition that is?
  7. Part of the problem is the ACU as the national governing body have always sort of ignored the "Pre65" side of trials in as much as they have never had a "spec" as i have tried to do and in all fairness Yorkshire Classic etc have had for all to see and build to. The ACU rightly or wrongly have always left it in the lap of either the organising club or championship organiser to sort out. That is why we have ended up in the state we are in. All i was trying to do was attempt to get some specs generally accepted which could they be adopted and then ratified by the ACU. Well i had good intentions anyway. As for you coming back to blighty and riding in a friendly atmosphere and having fun with like minded people i would strongly advise you seriously consider Twinshocks and if you can ride at a club that caters for Twinshocks as well as British Bikes then you get the best of all worlds and can make your own mind up. Twinshocks are a lot cheaper than British Bikes however the spares situation for British Bikes is much better with so much being remanufactured you will have a plethoria of choice. Twinshocks are just as much fun though and cheaper plus they hold their value well. Just a thought and i sincerely hope we havent put you off with our "discussion" ?
  8. Possibly but isnt it weird how so many people believed that Sprites were NOT Pre65? Hoe DID that happen?
  9. Posative proof then. Glad you never get missprints and can always believe everything you read in the press. Wonder why so many got it wrong for so long then. Interesting.
  10. Good point nicely proven IMHO. The billet yokes dont resemble anything i remember seeing prior to the Montesa Cota. As has been said so many times all down to vested interest. It's the "emporors new clothes all over again". So come on all you died in the wool Pre65 officiondos lets see a photo of the original equipment yokes as fitted to a British Bike prior to 31st December 1964 that those billet yokes resemble because i for one will be astounded if you can provide one? As for "specials" i seem to remember most trials bikes Pre65 and beuond for many years were "specials" anyway. I was there were you?
  11. Dig all you like havent ridden the James for over a year so you didnt dig that deep or even well. Never kept the bills but approx
  12. Thanks for that John. Think i probably overreacted to the word "recommended" you interpreted it one way i interpreted it another.
  13. Seperate arguement but what has "elegable for scotland" got to do with Neil Gaunts bike? Or havent you been following the discussion on scottish pre65 elegability.
  14. I do every month So does Charlie Prescott and a damn fine one it is too. Out of interest how many do you organise? If you do well done but what has that got to do with drawing up a spec for British Twinshocks? It doesnt affect you because youre well entrenched and happy with the status quo with "Pre65" in Yarkshire i presume. Lots of more far sighted people see the sense in British Twinshocks and we will have to wait and see what develops. Perhaps some riders just enjoy the deceit of disguising modern components and have "loads a money"
  15. Ever thought of improving your weight distribution and throttle control?? Dont get the point of practising your lack of riding skills then modifying a tyre which would be illegal anyway to compensate for your shortcomings.
