Wish they would buy bit's off me

You could always fit yokes forks and front wheel off a Pinky or even an early Fantic mono etc. I do have a pair of TY twinshock yokes that have been machined out to 35mm to take a pair of OSSA, Bultaco, Montesa legs so you could do that also. The TY forks are not that good as std although some say they can be made to work but it's a lot of effort.

Just to clarify the part about "go and play football".
Where i currently live there is a playing field / test track for Corsa's and scoobys. Every Sunday i cant even get out of my drive, we have a service road running round the back of the houses, after 9.00 am because of cars parked across my gates and blocking the serviuce road. We also have to put up with loud mouthed louts / footballers shouting and screaming obscenities at the ref and each other for the next 5 hours as there are also afternoon matches. Thats not all the field is left like a tip with bottles and cans all over the place just dropped where they were standing.
Thats the kind of yobish behaviour we dont want or need in our sport and it's also the kind of yob culture i see starting to infect areas of our world and was the reason for my statement.
As for the Golf issue i've always thought that Golf Clubs are fantastic institutions as they keep all the dickheads in one place.
-
WOW blew me away. THAT is the most inspirational thing i have EVER seen about Trials.
THAT is how we should and could promote our sport.
SUPERB !

Definately well said John Collins. I am attending an ACU meeting tonight, renewing my Clerk of the Course license, and i am sure the subject amongst others close to my heart will crop up. We as a club suffer more than most from a lack of observers and i will not tollerate ANY abuse of a club official. A recent incident occured at another club, not ACU, locally resulting in an observer vowing never to observe again. The person concerned, the abuser, knows who they are and as yet i am not aware of any appology forthcoming.
I do not feel that excluding someone from the results is sufficient penalty, "not in the results? big deal" would probably be the response, there is too much of this "i'll do what i want when and where i want and you aint gonna stop me" attitude in todays society. In my book anybody who abuses an official should be banned from all the Clubs events for a minimum of 12 months and in serious cases their ACU license revoked. their name should also be circulated to all Clubs in the Centre.
Harsh? not at all we need to put a stop to this nefarious attitude immeadiately. We dont want that sort of attitude polluting our sport. If you want to behave like scum go and play football.
-
Dont know if they have them for sale yet. Just saw it on the website. Best to give them a call and ask. Sorry but i dont have a 175 just a 250 so i dont know.
-
Glad everything went well. Yes mud can be a BIG problem at Dudwood. Sometimes we have really really struggled to get up the field to the sections. I will try to lay out bearing all this in mind in a couple of weeks as the weather forcast is for rain rain rain and that = mud mud mud but will try. Glad there was a full compliment of observers. Looks like cash is the way.
-
How did things go? Was it mega muddy? We have a trial there in two weeks time just wondered how the sections were and did you get a good turn out inc observers?
-
Looks like a std piston to me but if you are reboring the barrel why not take it out to 270cc and have the inlet manifold shortened. Makes for a MUCH better engine. Birkets will oblige.
-
Normal mod to lighten the clutch. Seen worse, seen better.
-
Strewth where do you ride? I want to avoid it.
-
But a pinky with 2 shocks on would still have an unfair advantage over a Majesty or a Fantic etc whereas this would have a disadvantage over a pinky, Beta, Gas Gas etc etc etc. So to me anyway that would be ok. Same as it would also be ok to me if someone who had converted a pinky to a twinshock rode in the Air Cooled Mono class as they would most definately NOT have an unfair advantage. Just think how good they would feel however if they beat the other Air Cooled Monos? just like Martyn Stanistreet did when he entered the Expert twinshock class at our last event on his James and beat the Majestys, Fantics etc etc.
-
I always admire good engineering. Dont know if this is an example or not. My comments in the past about monoshocks converted to twinshocks come from the basis of the unfair advantage principle. My comments about Scottish eligability come from the fact that things arent applied even handedly to ALL bikes i.e. some are allowed to be oil in frame some others are not and in Yorks some, cubs in particular, are allowed any carbs while other bikes are hampered by having to use Amal Mk1's. Just like to see a bit of transparancy thats all.
As for this bike well it is different. Perhaps there should be a class for this and the monoshock OSSA's that Cliff Holden made?
Still in retrospect think it is an Air Cooled Mono and would be welcome to ride in that class.
Back on the engineering theme i am torn at the moment wheather to try and develop a reed valve 37A Villiers for the James. Have to keep it well hidden though. Then again dont see a mention in a lot of rules about them being banned so perhaps.......
-
Why dont you think it fits into the Air Cooled Mono class ? It is air cooled and it is a mono.
-
OK surprisingly a lot of you dont see it the way i do. Fair enough. but what are you going to do with it? Where are you going to ride it? What class would you enter? If it turned up at one of our trials it would have to enter as an air cooled mono by definition and as such it would be totally uncompetitive.
I admire the engineering concept but dont follow the logic.
Oh well must be me.
-
OK i'll punt for 1200+ cos as soon as the word Majesty appears people go gaga. A std TY can fetch

Now is this an air cooled monoshock or just a travesty ? Thought it was April 1st.
