  1. Mickuni carb would probably cause palpetations at most Classic and Pre65 events. Best to check if acceptable with the organising club first. Just trying to be helpful
  2. Never really thought about this one i just assumed you fitted the brackets so the face of the footrest was level with the ground? Why would you want them tilted forward or backward anyway? Whats the advantage? Just asking
  3. Dont quite know how i came to be involved in this one but do you have a Pre95 Air Cooled Monoshock ? We are looking for owners who would like to come along to a test day somewhere to be decided in Derbyshire on June 10th. Your bike will be ridden and appraised by none other than Magical Mick Andrews and hopefully Nigel Birkett and the words and pictures will feature in Classic Dirt Bike Magazine. That is assuming we can get enough variety of bikes to test. So if you have a Air Cooled Gas Gas, Beta, Aprillia, Ty Yamaha, Montesa, Honda, Merlin etc etc etc please please pm me and i will try to collate everybodys details and arrange things. I do let myself in for things LOL fingers crossed for a good response
  4. Nah cant be. This is a photo of the winning bike from this years Pre65 scottish silly
  5. yeah thats how i remember them from 1964
  6. Good luck and good luck with the spares situation
  7. hi Charlie fine for low speed applications, wheel bearings etc, maybe even gearbox output shaft but i would always remove the inner side seal but i would never use in a crankshaft application. Just my twopennorth.
  8. Problem with Montesa here is spares availability. That in itself should be a big factor when you decide which bike to go for. TY and Bultaco are pretty well catered for but strangely not as well catered for as Villiers and Triumph Cub Pre65 bikes. Weird that
  9. Always fitted stainless. Fit and forget. Never had any problems.
  10. A sunny Easter weekend and a dry grippy Cookes Wood, Youlgrave near Matlock welcomed a disappointing entry of only 39 riders for round 3 of the Peak Classic club championship incorporating a round of the East Midlands Centre ACU Classic Championship. A lot of the club stalwarts were away at trials in Devon, Stafford show or family barbecue
  11. If it's of any help when i rode in robregordo i just had a normal ACU trials licence
  12. Just explain to me then how do rigid trials bikes manage to move ????
  13. See the prices are soaring already now they are "officialy" Pre65. Well the ones built before 1965 anyway Watch em all apear now on flea bay like a flock of "majestys" LOL
  14. The Peak Classic Trials Club held round 2 of their club championship at Bracken Rocks near Holloway, Matlock, Derbyshire last Sunday 20 March and what a difference to the muddy wastes of the previous round at Dudwood Farm. Bracken Rocks was in perfect condition having dried out over the past few days to leave the 41 riders a 4 lap course of 11 sections mostly comprising of grippy rocks and tree roots at this ever popular venue. A lot of the familiar faces were missing as the event clashed with the Bemrose and Red Rose Trials however the regulars that did make it had an enjoyable if challenging day with no one having a clean sheet. The nearest to zero marks lost was evergreen Mike Ransom on his faithful Francis Barnett riding the Clubman route for a change with a loss of just the one mark. Well done Mike and nice to see you out at one of our events again. Excellent rides were also had by Michael Atmore on his Trifield who won the Intermediate British Bike class for a loss of 6 marks. 6 marks was also the score for Andrew Land riding his Yamaha TY250 who secured the win in the Expert Pre95 Air Cooled Monoshock class. Peter Carson rode his Triumph Cub to an outstanding result winning the expert British Bike class losing only 14 marks which included two cleans on by far the most challenging section the Experts had to negotiate all day namely section 7 a rocky climb out of a small stream over large boulders made even more difficult by the mud brought up by competitors tyres from the stream. Superb performance Peter. Other notable wins came the way for Peter
  15. "How to spot a fake" in pre 65 trials good luck.
  16. Assume you mean me ? Been busy gotta be done thanks Charlie sounds pretty convincing to me. So lets not see any Sprites dated before 1964. LOL
  17. Nice one. I've also seen a lot of scramblers "converted" and sold on e bay as trials bikes.
  18. however if you want a recommendation then take whatever you see on here as "suggestions" and try them for yourself. Bike set up and that is what we are talking about here is a very personal thing. I have ridden many bikes that to me feel bloody awful and sometimes almost unrideable but the owner thought they were the dogs danglies. So suck it and see.
  19. Why do you think it was his helmet ?
