I thought the 24 cyl chainsaw bike was cool clicky
but how about this 48cyl kawasaki...
-
O-ring installed at the bottom of the needle jet thing to seal it to the carb bowl? (and allow the main jet to meter fuel, not bypass)
-
Canadian Superbike champ (and fellow trials rider) Jordan Szoke finishing 14th both days on his Kawasaki ZX10R at Barber.
-
Check your floats...make sure they are not 'sinkers' happened on the Bing on my Bultaco. New ones floated in a bowl of gas, old ones almost completely submerged.
-
Just fine...
C3 Radial internal clearance is one step larger than normal
for a 6004 bearing, 20mm shaft size, normal clearance is 5-20um, C3 is 13-28um. I don't think you will notice the difference.
-
Looking a bit older now...Rock the Park 3 when we saw him last summer. Put on a great show.
-
I changed my fork springs in my 199A with Sammy Miller Springs a few years ago. The used originals now measure 455mm. I think the Miller springs were only 5 or 10mm longer.

Congratulations again to Josiah Mizell on his Championship.
This was our fifth year at the Youth Nationals and always a great experience. We've made many friends along the way and will certainly miss it next year. I'm sure we will see everyone at the NATC nationals in the future.
Will said a couple of years ago that the competing in the Youth Nationals was the best confidence building and riding experience. The event gives them the chance to ride and compete within their age group, an opportunity not usually available in our local club competitions. The support and encouragement from the bike importers has been great as well, they make all the kids feel they are part of the team.
Many thanks to Catharine, Dan and Charlie and all the checkers for all their hard work.

Hugo, I used silicone RTV to seal the rim band on GasGas and Beta with good results stopping the slow leak.
Never had a problem with the Montesa though

Hugh's has tanks
Mine has the plastic tank from new, not fibreglass.

The right side brake cable loops up over the air inlet then back down to the swingarm on the left. It has a 90 degree steel fitting on the end that mounts near the swingarm pivot. You will need a cable and a brake pedal, both should be available from Hugh's or Mobley's. The original pedal was cast aluminum (not available) but the replacement I bought a few years ago was fabricated steel.
I think you will see some decrease in brake performance (if that's possible!) with the right side pedal/cable arrangement vs the direct link on the left.

PS: The bike arrived to me, in Canada, in the crate from Spain with the RH brake/LH shifter back in '79

Hi JackMan,
You can get info on Ontario trials through our yahoo group at ATA We always have a vintage bike class. Also there are quite a few local events with the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group, some info here: CVMG and trialscanada.com
Nice looking bike by the way, my son and I rebuilt a TY that he started riding on a few years ago.

I use a short length of 20mm ground shaft, this fits the bearing and will press on the end of the spacer. Tap the lower bearing out, remove spacer, flip the wheel over and tap out the other bearing. Pop the inner seal out of your new 6004-2RS bearing, fill with grease and replace the seal. Use a large socket (size of the OD of the bearing) and tap in one bearing, flip the wheel, replace spacer and carefully tap in the other bearing. I also have a short length of pipe, about 60mm diameter that I put on the bench below the hub when tapping out the bearing.
I wouldn't drive the edge of the spacer with a punch as you are sure to damage it.
I did a front wheel bearing change mid-trial last year, 15 minutes including a sandwich....and yes I should have checked it before the trial.

Lots of knowledge at the Bultaco Owner's Forum or contact Hugh'sor Mobley's Looks like Hugh's recommends .0035" for a 83mm piston. May be a larger clearance recommended for a forged Wiseco vs a cast Mahle piston.

From my bultaco owners manual for models 198A 250cc and 199A 350cc:
250cc max power 14.1 C.V. @5500 rpm max torque 2.04 m-kg @4000 rpm
350cc max power 20.8 C.V. @6500 rpm max torque 2.76 m-kg @4000 rpm
1 C.V. (cavallo vapore) = 1.01387 HP

The shifter shaft on the TY175 is very short, only goes through that little cover on the left side. There is a linkage inside that cover that sends the shifter motion to the clutch side. Should be a thrust washer on both ends of the shifter shaft inside the cover.
You can take off the 4 screws of the cover to check. Pack it with grease before re-assembling.
Check the bushing in the cover for wear as well.

ps. I have a 199A that I bought new in 1979
