I couldn't resist. I had to try the Mayors chain on. In return he wanted to wear the media vest. No protocol was broken.

Ec Riders On Course
The event began just a short time ago. Here's section 1. Pat took a clean, as did most riders. A shuttle is needed to get out by the sea-side sections. That doesn't leave until 11 AM. It's cold and very windy today.

The Mayor And I
What a treat. This morning it was a pleasure to meet the Mayor of North Down Borough, Counciller Dr. Stephen Farry. He and his posse stopped in the media room to check out the press operation - and to mingle a bit. Right away I knew this man was someone of importance. Check out his bling.

My pleasure, Martin. I'll do my best to provide you all with coverage of the event and the culture we are experiencing here in Europe. We're getting more comfortable with the tour as the day's go along. But, I'm not going to lie to anyone, this is very tough, both physically and mentally. As much as we've learned, we're still learning. Pat, Noel and I really could use all the internet cheering from the USA as we can get. Yes, we're getting home-sick at times.

Practice
Good morning USA. Here's a photo of the practice area. It's a tight one. The event itself is located in the heart of the city - with two sections right near the paddock and hotels. The rest of the sections are along the coastline.

Andy, so far this is as close as I've gotten. Oh, and don't expect fast internet. It took 3 minutes to download this photo.

Here's John and Kim France - with Julie (Mom) and Louise Forsley. Louise, by her own admission had a horrible day. She said she tried to look at the sections 100 different ways, but nothing worked for her. I measure Louise's success in more ways than the scorecard would indicate. She is trying something very few American's dream of. Yes, Louise is living her dream. And all of the USA should be proud of her. I am. She wanted to throw out a big thanks to John for the minding duties and sponsorship, Gas Gas and Classic Landscaping. Pat will be heading out in about twenty minutes. Stay tuned. And feel free to comment.
