  1. I do not recomend Leakproof seals, they are not made right, they have no garter spring, gators are ok but need to be cleaned out from under regularly, if you are blowing seals often your bushings may be wornout.

  2. do these have a cable adjustment on the decompressor? as far as the kick point push it through untill you feel compression then push it slightly past that point then let the kick lever come back to the top before giving a good kick.

  3. It's running rich and loading up, drop the main jet one size and see what happens, common kehin jet avalable at most bike shops, the reeds are a good thing to check while you have the carb off, a frayed or chiped reed could cause the bike to run rich, also you may want to check the exhaust for carbon build up. Nothing against PJ1 products, you may want to experiment with other 2 cycle mixes, I prefer maxima 927, a lot of riders are using the maxima super M, silcolene and bell ray also make good 2 cycle oils.

  4. I don't recomend 75:1 in a vintage bike, the least amount of oil should be 50:1 in my oppinion, I run all my bikes at around 36:1 and have no problem with spooge (slang term for the black oily stuff) as long as my bikes are properly jetted and I am using good quality 2-cycle mix, you say it runs good, so probably not jetting, if your crank seal is bugered I think it would be pouring out rather than just a residue. good chance it's just cooking out the old oil in the pipe, take it out and open it up for a few miles to blow it out, that should create enough heat to burn out most of the old oil, if it is an oily pipe it will start smoking a lot as the pipe gets hot, then it will start to clear up, also

    use good oil

  5. I hear they do have a new model, it has a fuel injected 250cc 2 stroke motor with reveresed cylinder like the new ossa, carbon fiber frame with integrated fuel cell, there is no radiator to save weight, it uses some kind of freon cooling system, a programable on the fly ECM activated by a handlebar switch. It is rumored to weigh 128.5 lbs. the price is seven hundred squids

    :D

all of my information is obtained exclusivly from itsallinmyimagination, com

    seriously ^_^

  6. there are a few little tricks all have their drawbacks

    1. use a clutch lever perch setup that has multiple locations for the cable to add or remove leverage, (think they call them easy pull made by MSR or other aftermarket mx parts supplier) >> draw back less clutch disengaugment

    2. add some length to the clutch slave lever, >> same draw back as above

    3. remove a few clutch springs, >> drawback clutch may slip

note lube the clutch cable or replace it with a new one, sometimes this is enough to make a difference

  7. You could also enter a Flat Track Race on a MX Bike, but nobody does.........

I guess my point is that Trials Bikes have become too specialized. A minimum seat height would bring Trials Bikes back into the mainstream as far as ergonomics and a bike that the newbie may be attracted too, but could the Trials Community accept this as a standard?

    no

  8. sounds like it's not disengauging the kick gear, is the kick start lever clocked wrong? sounds like you may be a tooth or two off on the kick shaft spline, not letting the kick shaft return far enough, can quite remember how these are made, been too long since I looked inside mine

  9. can't say that I blame him, if it's no fun then why do it, I would like to see the US more involved with world trials, Pat showed us he has the skills, wish there was enough support to do a full schedule, all I can say is good luck Pat and thanks for going over there and representing the US and showing Europe we can ride trials too.

  10. loosen the fork pinch bolts and wheel axle clamps, hold the front wheel and move the handlebars side to side, try and align the front wheel with the fork tripple clamp the retighten, most likely it is just tweaked and needs to be loosened then retightened...good luck

  11. sadly we are stuck with 4T for MX they are faster than their 2T counterparts, (250 2T vs 450 4T and 125 2T vs 250 4T ) they are very trick and very expensive to repair & maintain. I am a professional motorcycle mechanic with over 20 years experience, I have seen a lot, you will NEVER see a 4T race or Trials bike in my garage.

  12. but I like many others, was wholly disappointed in his attitude to his first visit in Europe. I also saw him ride on his own turf at Sequatchie and again he looked like he didn't want to be there and wasn't enjoying it at all even though he won the first day but got beat by Jack Challoner on the second day where he looked like he just gave up.

uhm wasn't he riding with a cracked vertebrae? had hoped to see him give it another go after he healed up.

  13. SWM's were one of the most popular bikes in the '80's around here, never seen a Majesty in person, seems like each one of the bikes had it's day, every one had either Buls or Monts, the rest were Yamaha 175's, very few Kawi's or Honda's, the mono Yamaha seemed to be a turning point for technology, fantic, beta, aprilla, & Merlin all came on the scene.

  14. talk about this great build quality the mont has, it cant be any better than beta's which i have ridden for years with absolutely minimal maintenance, the biggest problem with people and their bikes is that they work and them and they actually dont know what they're doing

Also, if a spares business is being started up why have all the spares up for auction

your right Eddie abought Beta's build quality, just as good as Mont's I've owned both, you can drop either bike off a cliff and start it up and drive it away, believe me I've done it enough times, my next bike will be a Beta since they still offer a 2T, I'll never own a fuel injected 4T dirt bike in any form, too damn expensive to repair the fuel injection or having to deal with valve train

possibly you don't have enough experience with other brands to know the difference when people are harping on Build Quality of the Mont's as compared to other Spanish brands

  15. There is something in this, but would bernie have been a champ had he stayed in so cal? Would Fujigas ever have done what he did without embracing europe? Would Adam Raga have been champ had he not ridden in the uk for a year?

Good point, Bernie's results went up over the years on the world circut, if I'm not mistaken both Lane & Marlin posted higher results at first

  16. pardon me if I digress a bit here but let me ask this ... what was it that put Bernie at the top in the first place, (talent aside)I may be off slightly in history but it was my understanding that Marlin and Bernie and maybe even you Lane, all rode together quite a bit and kept pushing each other further and further, they had some great terrain in So Cal and in my oppinion this is what it takes to excell at this sport, if Pat was riding regularly with some one who was better than him he would get better, two or three really good riders who keep pushing each other's limits are going to get better and better, that is in my oppinion what it will take to get an American in the points chase in world trials.

What if Jeremy Megrath or Ricky Carmichel had chosen trials instead of motocross? they were the best MX racers in the entire world at their prime. Could they have been the best trials rider in the world if they had chosen that route? I doubt it since it was the competition that raised their game.
