  1. Nigel I fully agree, they are excellent bikes and the flywheel weight really does help. But it is not a 'Boy' that you have it is a 'Cadet'!!!!! The boy is the small semi-auto model Ta Tom
  2. So if there is a problem with engine supply for the 50 Cadet then there must also be a problem for the 80, anyone heard anymore about this? Ta Tom
  3. Ah i see, so i guess that will be effecting the supply of GG TXT 80 too, as they essentially have the same engine? Thanks Tom
  4. The Auto Beta is pretty poor as a proper trials bike, ok as a field bike maybe The GG 50 Boy is far superior and with revised gearing can do some pretty amazing things for such a small bike
  5. The Gasgas TXT 50 Cadet is an awesome medium wheel machine , far better than the Beta Rev/Evo 50 which is pretty gutless in my opinion . Does anyone know why there are no new 50 Gassers at the moment, is it a temporary supply problem? Good news for Kade he will be selling his soon to move up to an 80
  6. Thanks Betabiker Looks like we have a trip to Northampton coming up. Is it a ticket only event? Any idea how much? Thanks Tom
  7. Hi Does anyone know if trophies are presented for the top 3 riders in each class? And if so when & where do they receive them? Thanks Tom
  8. No its a mountain bike helmet, I think we established that a while back. But as there is no ACU gold sticker restrictions in trials as in MX then some people seem to use them. Scotty, I will be interested in how you find it.
  9. Definitely worth going and trying them all on, its amazing how different they all fit. I have NAU and it is excellent, very comfy, although can get a tad warm & sweaty, but the liner is removable so can be washed to keep it smelling fresh! Interesting how you mention the Troy Lee Designs D2 which is very nice (think you might struggle to get one within your budget though?) but is essentially a mountain bike helmet, however I have seen the odd one being worn by trials riders. Does any one know the official stand being taken with these helemts, I know there is no ACU Gold sticker required as in MX but it would be a pain to buy one then find you cant compete due to certain restrictions?
  10. Well this has not gone exactly as I intended! And yes I was just kidding with Callum, but almost as much about his analysis of some very hard, some very easy , as the text talk. Now back to the original topic! Thanks Mike (TomsDad), I think its the only way we are going to find out for sure! And your right the Cadet is awsome, its really brought his riding on. GarethR we will hopefully see you at the South Shropshire Round, Devon is way too far from Yorkshire for a first stab at a National for us. Sure we can both put our experiences up on here for others to benifit from Thanks Tom
  11. Well thanks for the response Callum! Anyone else got any experience of the National D trials? Preferably one i can understand
  12. Can anyone recommend a small compressor? How much do you need to spend to get one that is suitable? I dont want to get one then realise its not up to the job. Thanks Tom PS Im in the UK
  13. Hi Guys I was just wondering what the sections were like in a National D class trial? Are they very hard? My lad is nearly 9, just upgraded to a GG Cadet 50 and fancies having a go at a national. Any advise or experiences would be appreciated Thanks Tom
  14. John Thanks for that info, its good to know. Tom
  15. barfly are you refering to a TXT50 'Boy' or a 'Cadet'? My son has a 2005 TXT50 'BOY' and i have had a similar experience. If you put the reccomended 500cc of oil in then you will find that it simply gets blown out of the crank case breather and depending where the pipe finishes, can make a bit of an oily mess. I also fully agree with mashman that to much oil can cause more problems. I still haven't got to the bottom of this issue and would be interested in any suggestions anyone might have. Thanks Tom
  16. I had the same problem with the Hebo aluminium bar ends, came out when i spayed some WD-40 in. You will have to give it all a good clean with carb cleaner before putting it back in otherwise you wount be able to tighten it up again. Hope it helps Tom
  17. Does it not mean that yours is 2001 model, manufactured october 2000?
  18. Oh I see, interesting idea, but stalling not really a problem with it being an auto clutch. Boner you got that 60T yet? Just wanted an idea of how long it took to arrive Thanks Tom
  19. No I haven't, what would the effect be & what are the advantages? To be honest my lads bike seems to have a fair amount of 'go' in it, not much it wont get up and am only trying the new sprocket ratio as it seems highly recommended by others. Thanks Tom
  20. Hi Boner You got your lads 60T sprocket on yet? How is it? Still waiting for mine as they are having to make one. Tom
  21. Boner have Talon got the 60T in stock? They say it will be 3-4 weeks to make me a 54 rear! I think 60T:9T might be too low, i would try 60T:10T first, then take it from there? Looking forward to seeing what difference it really makes. Tom
  22. I haven't tried it yet, im just on with ordering the new sprokets today. I guess Talon had the 60T in stock? they are going to have to make me a 54T, which will mean a bit of a wait. Has the 60T rear not made it any better on the hills? I thought from reading on here that it made a big difference? To be honest my lads bike is pretty good on the hills.
  23. Hi Boner I assume this is for your lads TXT Boy 50? Well this is what i have decided to do, instead of running the recommended 60T:10T (ratio of 6.0) i plan on running 54T:9T (ratio 6.0) same ratio but avoiding the massive rear wheel size sprocket which i think would be prone to damage. Sure someone will let me know if i have got this wrong, but seems to make sense to me Thanks Tom
  24. Thanks Boner, did Kev at GG recommend those additional mods or are they things you were going to do anyway? I have been thinking of doing exactly the same mods, be good to hear how you get on. Couple of questions 1. How much is the thick clutch plate, and have they GG got them in stock? 2. Are you bothering with the 9T front Sprocket then? Cheers Tom
  25. Hi Boner Glad you asked this as my son has just got himself a 05 TXT50 Boy, impressive little bike, really surprised what they are capable of so far. I've found this post Click here! It says increase the rear to a 60T, which i have seen several other people on here say is the best mod you can make to these little bikes. But it also says to use a 9T front sprocket? I wonder if someone could confirm this is correct, as it is the only mention of changing the front sprocket i have seen. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks Tom
