  1. Thanks for the help everyone. I now have the NOVA reference number just waiting for the insurance cover note then will give it a try. Thanks Again.
  2. The dealer imported it (Craig's Motorcycles) and I have the original receipt, but the receipt is not in my name as we are the second owner, the first owner sold it to us before he got around to registering it. Can I send the purchase receipt to DVLA instead of applying to HMRC for a NOVA1? It does show that VAT was paid on the original purchase.
  3. Thank you, One other question, with it being registered as a new bike (not a used bike) with a cert of newness do I still need the confirmation letter from HMRC (Nova 1)?
  4. Hi, does anyone know if the Type Approval Exemption for Trials Bikes still applies. I am trying to road register a 4RT and I I have the certificate of newness. The DVLA guidance notes for registering a vehicle in 2012 (form V355) said: Competition motorcycles are excluded from the EU type approval system (vehicles intended for use in competition, on roads or in off-road conditions) Directive 2002/24/EC Article 1. Para. 1, item d) and thus from Motorcycle single vehicle approval (MSVA) as well. The only competitions involving road use, and hence the registration of motorcycles are trials and enduros. Motorcycles to be registered for such events must comply with the following specifications: 1. They must be intended for use in competition. 2. Trials motorcycles: a. maximum seat height of 700mm, b. minimum ground clearance of 280mm, and c. maximumfueltankcapacityof4litres. This form seems to have been replaced with forms V355/4 and V355/5 which do not mention type approval and the only current reference on the .gov website is this one: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-approval/exemptions-from-vehicle-approval This does not list competition trials bikes. My question is if i put 'exempt-trials bike' on the form as we have done for years, will it be accepted? Thanks.
  5. I have got mine insured at Bennetts. It is down on their computer system as a Bultaco Sherco.
  6. It can be made to fit but will not go straight in without having some smaller spacers machined up

    Ty175 Forks

I think it depends on what rear shocks you are using. Standard TY rear shocks you want 15mm-20mm of the forks above the yolks (yoke's ??). I have just put some Betor shocks on mine which are about 25mm longer than standard and then you want the top of the folks level with the yolks.
  8. Doug fourth - was in third until he fell off '5' in the race and left the door open for fuji.

    Lighting Kit

I have the full lighting kit from an 05 280 pro which is everything they put on from the factory - front light, rear light, indicators!, handlebar mounted controls, and all associated wiring (all except the sensors mounted on the brake levers for the brake light) It was taken off the bike as soon as I got it and I dont have that bike anymore. I assume that this will fit the 04 if you're interested pm me
  13. I have not heard how he is at the moment but I was stood next to him when he took the tumble. It didnt seem that bad a crash but ive never seen anyone turn that colour that quickly. He was obviusly in a lot of pain. Would be good to know how he is now
  14. No its cancelled. There is an article nearer the front of the TMX than the regs section saying its cancelled because of the Defra thing. What a nightmare.
  15. Just posted a rev-3 rear wheel for sale in the classified ads on the front page. Contact details are on there Cheers Lewis
  16. Stu Sorted it mate - thanks for all the help. I just ordered the it over the phone from john lampkin imports and the paper type gasket turned up so I changed it for that and everything seems to be ok. The pictures were very handy though - thanks for that.
  17. Nice one. Thanks Stu that makes me feel a bit better about changing it
  18. Got round to having a look at it today. Filled it back up to correct level with oil and run the bike for a bit and the oil is not leaking from the clutch cover it is leaking from around one of the allen bolts holding the engine casing together. I have checked that all the bolts are tight but it is still leaking. I assume I am going to have to change the engine casing gasket. Looks like a nightmare of a job. Thanks for all your help Lewis Black (Blacky)
  19. I dont know if this has been covered before, apologies if it has. Just after I started the Bemrose trial at the weekend I started losing gearbox oil somewhere from the clutch cover side of the engine. I didnt lose enough to stop me finishing the trial but it was a bit concerning from a 2005 bike. I havent had chance to look at it yet, is there anything obvious I should know about before I strip it down. Thanks.
