    New Gasser For Me

Hey Fanticmatze, If riding like a girl means making those ultra smooth turns on the hill side than I need to learn how "to ride like a girl" We can get an "easy button" from Staples and zip tie it to the handlebars. only$5.99. If you need a catcher I can return the favor and thanks again for keeping my Sherco from squishing me. yep the 2 more years wait does sound more like a reality than anything sooner. I was just trying to gather info. (and got some good stuff)

    Flood Aid?

Not sure how much a quid is but here in the states we have people that will walk past homeless and starving men, women and children to mail their charity check to some other country whose government keeps the money and the people still starve. Maybe I am politically incorrect and a bit of a hermit but I think we should help those in our country first. OK rant over and opinion stated.
  4. I am not sure I have a hard time just remembering first names let alone last names. Is it the 25 year old guy that has driven the ice road for last 7 years that you are talking about? He's got a real young child at home.
  5. I have been watching "Ice Road Truckers" and I just had to post something about it. I definately have huge respect for those guys. Driving on ice, the heaviest load I have seen so far was 95,000 pounds. Plus some of those guys are pulling 30 to 42 hour days. And some people say us trials riders are crazy.
  6. I tried dating my TY175 when I was much younger.......it told me no and proceeded to throw me on the ground ......ALOT!

    New Gasser For Me

Yep good day yesturday!! I gotta get some video of us to show the misses. So she can swoon and say "You are so good what a great rider you are!" Oh wait this is my wife I am talking about, she gonna say "You did THAT!! You are never going riding again, I am not taking you to the hospital...again." Actually she is very supportive, let's me ride and makes sure I get the parts I need. A new bike mmmmmm......probably not for a while. But as for the 300 gasser, Biff's is an 04 and it has tons of grunt down low, more than my sherco. I also like that if I twist the throttle it GOES, also to do the splatter box (approx 4 ft right Biff?) it don't take as much throttle. I noticed the throttle response is basically instant. The 300 seems to "fit" my riding "style" (yea like I got any style). I am more of a "stop and go" type rider, not a constant motion smooth rider. Thanks everyone for your input, If I am able to get a new bike I will be looking at an 04 or newer. I really like the look of the 07. I don't need a Raga rep I ain't that good. You should see me try a 125cc that was pathetic eh Biff?

    New Gasser For Me

At the moment none. But if and that is a big if, I am able to buy a new to me bike probably no more than $3000 U.S. (and that may be a stretch I will probably ride my 2000 sherco 2.9 until trials is run on hoverbikes) I guess I am not looking for "cheap" but the "best bang for the buck" and the bucks are lower than purchasing new. Sounds like an 04 onwards would be the best bet. Thanks gentlemen and if there is any more info on what to look for please post. Atomant, How hard does a person have to ride a bike in order to muck up the clutch cage on that new of a bike? What level did they ride at?
  9. I have been corrupted by my buddy Biff. I am thinking that my next bike will be a gas gas 300 pro. Now if I were to convince my lovely and understanding wife to allow me to purchase said bike, what year would be a solid, good performing, well balanced, reliable, near industructable (yep I know no bike is) machine??? Oh I forgot to mention that I am cheap.... I mean frugal minded. Thanks
  10. If I understand correctly you are refering to the tops of the forks. The cap looks like it has a HUGE allen head cap. I took a spark plug socket (can't remember the size) and the top of the socket is shaped for use with a wrench. This part fit into the allen part of the cap. I cut off the top part of the socket with a dremel moto tool. Then I could use a 3/8 drive ratchet to operate my new tool and remove the caps. When I read this it sounds confusing and very redneck at the same time. But it works real nice.

    08 Gasgas

    Cam Chain

This is taken straight from the 1986 TLR200 REFLEX service manual CAM CHAIN TENSION Start the engine and allow it to idle. Remove the rubber cap and loosen the cam chain adjuster bolt. When the cam chain tensioner adjuster bolt is loosened, the tensioner will automatically position itself to provide the correct tension. Retighten the adjuster bolt and install the rubber cap. Torqu: 15-22 Nm (1.5-2,2kg-m, 11-16 ft lb) Note: do not loosen the 6 mm bolt. The adjuster bolt is located behind the cylinder. Hope this helps.
  14. 6" ??? Heck I can do that. Think maybe you meant 6' I am just messin' with ya
  15. That is the method I use with slight change. Instead of vehicle I use a Piece #4 Piece #4 about 1 ft long affixed horizontal to wall stud in garage. all else is the same as yessir it just goes pop! right off rim. I place new tire on rim using tire irons and To get new one seated on rim I take the lazy way out and take it to a guy I know and he will seat the bead for free. I have tried ratchet straps with no luck (possibly I was doing it wrong)

That would be why I put this part in my previous post.

    Wheels

call local sherco dealer and have correct spokes sent to you. No measuring needed. They will probably answer any questions you have.
  18. Thanks for the info was just curious.
  19. I have seen much postings on a "competition license", I am in the US and am wondering if the competition license is the equivilent of a membership in the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association)?

    Stupid!

So true, I rode my first US national in Ohio just this past June, on the first day just before entering section 4 (there were 12 sections and a semi-lengthy loop) a small tree that was just the right height to catch on my shift lever did just that. The tree fit between the shift lever and the engine as I was pulling forward, thus bending the shift lever about 170 degrees and then snapping it off. AH!! but I was smart and brought a spare, but I was stupid and the spare was back in the pits. I was stuck in second gear for the rest of the loop. Second worked great in the sections but was very slow on the trail. I got passed a few times too.
  21. hhhmmmmmm, think I will stay with the stock ally skidplate. At least that is what the missus is telling me.
  22. Don't care about the weight just want sparks everytime I hit a rock. Night time trials??? that would just be the dog's B*****ks as they say across the pond. (gosh I hope I got that phrase right) Wonder what the cost would be?
  23. Is titanium the stuff that sparks real nicely when it hits a rock? That would be too cool to have a skid plate made out of that stuff. sparks everywhere.
  24. Paul I just turned 34 a couple weeks back, think the arteries are about 85. Did not ride TN, I rode my first national in OH rode the Sportsman class. And had a blast. I had a few too many sections that scored like this though..........5-0-5. Wish I was more consistant, but if I was it probably would be 5-5-5. Gotta agree that in the heat the best that can be done is to hydrate. Starting the day before is not a bad idea either.
  25. Formula for disaster = Zippy + one beer. I am toasted after just one. Low tolerance but on the bright side a cheap date! Maybe if my minder would have slipped some beer in with the propel this last weekend in Ohio I would have been looser and actually opened up the throttle and made s few more of the steps.
