  1. I thing the Gas Gas is much more suited to the indoors than the Cota. Will be interesting to see how it pans out over the season though. When Tarres went off the boil he did it pretty quickly. It must be VERY hard to adjust to not winning.
  2. Marvellous! You going? Beer?
  3. Any trials on 10th 11th or 12th April in Lochaber area? Holidaying then and may need light releif from wife / 3 daughters / aunt.
  4. Surely no Spaniards* would ride otherwise the French riders would go on strike. *Particularly those who spat their dummies out last season when the odd Brit and Jap entered theirs
  5. Rode on Sunday and I think there were less tha 40 riders. For those that don't know Scout provides a great ride round with a decent moor crossing. The sections were on the easy side, but tricky enough to take marks. A mixture of stream and quarry type sections. Worth bearing in mind for future events.

  7. My Yamaha Anson gear is still looking like new after 7 years. Could do with some Sherco iron - on transfers!

    Sherco 250 Vs 290

Maybe Nigel is right in so far as we are talking semantics. The point I was making about repacking silencers was that an unsmooth lumpy exhaust note will affect the way power is put down and therefore grip / traction* (delete as applicable). Maybe to sum up - we should all make sure we save up and keep new rear tyres on our bikes.

    Sherco 250 Vs 290

So why would you bother repacking silencers etc? Just to make it sound nice? If traction is marginal a less powerful, smoother and yes, easier bike to ride will break traction later. A 280 Aprilia engine in a Sherco frame will simply NOT grip the same as even a 290 Sherco engine for example. I do get the feeling that we will not agree on this however long the thread goes.

    Sherco 250 Vs 290

No, still can't see it. By that logic if you put a 100 bhp engine, same weight etc in that chassis it would grip the same.

... not if the power is easier to control.

    Carb Icing

Was suffering badly from carb icing yesterday - one very simple cure is to pour a hot cup of coffee slowly over the carb. (No milk, one sugar). Otherwise the bike (200) was fantastic for the extremely slippy conditions.
  16. Received the Duke/ Octagon DVD for xmas. Very disappointed due to far to much pics of locality of each round and rider interviews. I would guess that only 50% of the whole vid is actually film of riding. Any suggestions for alternatives??
  17. I was thinking about nandrilone, but having seen it's lack of performace enhancement for Mr Rusedski I'll stick to Ribena.
  18. Currently on ebay (uk) no bids yet.

    200 V 250

Picked the bike up before Xmas and I am chuffed to bits with it. In terms of grip and chuckability it is just brilliant and i find that it is just the most FUN to ride. (And isn't that the point??)

    200 V 250

When I went to test them I actually really fancied the 250, partly because I was coming from a 250 TYZ (and more importantly my bro has a 200). I am 6'5 and big bro is 6'7. I weigh 15 - 16 stone he weighs a little (ahem) more. The 200 is fine for him - the ONLY time you could say it was less than perfect was when he only got to the 1 board on a graded hillclimb. (But bear in mind that the mark lost on that section was the only lost on the whole lap). I pick it up at the weekend, once the preload has been wound up a bit. Will report back. Big John - you ride it in bottom for most sections?

    200 V 250

John We must be totally right - Woody in TMX (therefore unbiased etc.) today says that if he was returning to trials he would buy the 200.

    200 V 250

Following long and heated debate (on another wesite) have got shot of the Yam and ordered a 200. Tried both the 200 and 250 at Rathmells day and found the 200 tons smoother and plenty powerful enough. We shall see.
