June 30, 201313 yr What a tragic ending! I first assumed it was a road bike because of the saddle bags.
June 30, 201313 yr Thats brilliant, never seen that before, I thought the stuntman must have been Jean Pierre-Goy, Mike Bast was Mint!! Thanks for sharing.
June 30, 201313 yr Does Montesa have some sort of Devils Contract with the film industry? Seems like any time a Trials bike is used it is a Montesa! (OH NO now the Montesa nuts are going to post about how it is because it is the best bike in the universe! )
June 30, 201313 yr When he jumps on the bike at the start of the scene and stamps it into gear looks like it has a right side gear change. Was this the case with early Cotas?
June 30, 201313 yr Author I could not remember the name of the movie ( Freebie and the bean, thanks toofasttim ) i think if it was a bultaco he would have held on to it

July 1, 201313 yr I'm sure you were there cleanorbust - http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/44300-early-cota-club/ "Very smart. You will no doubt be aware of the care required when starting these earlier models with the RHS gear lever. I recall one at the start of the SSDT at Gorgie cattle market. The thing gassed up and would not start so the rider gave it a really good kick with the throttle wide open - needless to say it fired at full bore just before the starter lever slammed the thing in to gear - he took away the starter's table and sent the gent flying. Rather early for a five."
July 2, 201313 yr From another TC thread (http://www.trialscen...e-rode-montesa/) The US Montesa importer at the time was a pretty savvy marketer and tried to give Neil Armstrong a Mont. Armstrong was more savvy (this was earlier than this: http://en.wikipedia...._stamp_incident but the penalty would have been similar) and politely declined. I'm sure Martin Belair will be able to tell us more stories. Edited July 2, 201313 yr by toofasttim
