January 1, 201511 yr As per title, this was on the magnet when I dropped the oil, any idea if it's a needle bearing part of anything else? Is it safe to ride? Everything appears to be fine with the engine. Many thanks in advance

January 1, 201511 yr Author The part is approximately 20mm long and 3mm, I thought it looked like a part of a needle bearing. The bike is an 04 Rev 3. Thanks
January 1, 201511 yr I would assume that it is a roller from the needle roller bearings inside the gear box time to spilt the cases
January 1, 201511 yr I think this may be the drive pin from the water pump gear. Pull the major clutch cover off to have a look.Be sure to pay attention to the shims on both the gear shift and kick start shafts.
January 2, 201511 yr check water pump pin. sounds about right length. if not your best bet is to open it up and check all needle roller bearings and rebuild while your there. a few of mine exploded on my gasser and was rather costly!
January 2, 201511 yr I would check the kick start idler gear (That would be the easiest) but it would make more sense that it is the bearing that the kick start shaft slides into.

January 2, 201511 yr Author Thanks all, I found the diagram and printed it off, the water pump pin is the same but it has one installed. A quick chase through the history and it looks like the previous owner bought a pin by its self so he must have dropped it in the engine when the water pump case was replaced, looks like I have been lucky that it was caught on the magnet for the drainer. cheers again it's been very useful to have all the comments and guidance.
January 2, 201511 yr According to the parts list the water pump pin is 12mm long. I hope it is that pin as it is easy to drop if you are working with the bike on it`s side.
January 3, 201511 yr Author I rode it for 20 mins last night and it was fine so off to the trial tomorrow and I hope it's OK.
