Should add I usually start the bike with half throttle not keen on full throttle

I've never heard the full throttle thing. I've ridden the local dealers a few times, and I've never started it with any throttle. Just push the button and kick.

That's just what vertigo uk advise I was up there getting it tweaked abit and they say half / full throttle and kick hold until revs pick up,I don't know if that's right or not but if factory say that who am I to argue!!

As you say, why would you argue with factory instructions.  These guidelines come from the people that design and manufacture the bikes so all things being equal it should be accurate info.

 

Did they give you any insight as to why the capacitor failed? I wonder what the failure rate of this component is on other brands as I've heard a few vertigos afflicted by this.  Wonder if they are using inferior quality parts or something intrinsic to the vertigo setup is putting the part under strain?

Hi Chris, No don't start it on Full throttle. A minor blip will help on a cold morning. Carry a spare Alkaline just to start it just in case the rechargeable is flat. The Problems Chris had were mainly to do with the Mapping and Spark plug. The fitted plug was a NGK BPMR6A which tended to fail. A switch to BPMR4 and a full remap sorted it.

Oh and your Ice Hell is 10 42 sprockets so when you do need a chain it runs a 103 link.

I thought vertigo remapped all their UK bikes last May to run the identical map Dougie ran in Scotland.  Does bikes coming to the UK now have to have this map installed retrospectively or are the being supplied from the factory with this map - which is what I thought was happening.

Hi telecat, my bikes running a bpmr4 and has not been re mapped, should have the capacitor tomorrow so see if that sorts it

Hi, replaced the capacitor tonight and the bike fired up first kick and running spot on so just a blown capacitor not sure of the cause,

Hi, do you mean the regulator above the radiator..? Or where is the capacitor?

Any idea on the price chris? I wonder if it would be astute to have a spare as I've heard it mentioned before.

The dabster, the capacitors are £87.08 but too pricey to keep one as a spare

Capacitor should have its value on it .Once you know that a google search should come up with something cheaper
