May 8, 20197 yr Hey guys! So i had to fix the cylinder for my bike, and decided to change the gear oil at she same time. After about a week the cylinder was fixed so I put it on and started the bike. I completely forgot about the oil and ran the bike for about 5 seconds or less without an oil in the engine. Then ofcourse i filled up the engine with oil, started again and it works fine. So my question is Is it possible that something in the engine is damaged? Because bike was running for like 5 seconds with no oil and it forks fine now
May 8, 20197 yr I wouldnt worry about it. A 4 stroke yes, but a 2 stroke with no gearbox oil, not so bad
May 8, 20197 yr You'd be surprised at how many bikes are neglected to the extent that they exist with little oil most of the time.
May 10, 20197 yr If it's a stroker and you havent put a flushing agent through, then virtually everything would have had a fine film of the old oil that would have been enough to just prevent damage for your 5 seconds of running it. Dont sweat it is best advice, it should be fine..... Edited May 10, 20197 yr by jonboy883
May 10, 20197 yr I've seen 2t's go without oil for hours, then go for another 200 and counting afterwards. I wouldn't worry about it.
