  1. Yes I would agree, it is hard to compare a RTL250 with a TLM260. They are a more modern bike, although there are similarities in chassis components. The standard engine is wonderful, sounds a bit like a TYZ, smooth and soft but then has huge mid range power similar to a modern 290 Beta I tried. I am not sure why you would want to modify the exhaust system? Can anybody tell me what the effect of the aftermarket big bore system/bigger carb etc had on performance over standard? Who marketed these components, I have seen stickers from Mitani and Ethos ? NAT
  2. From the '92 TLM260R sales brochure:
  3. Fantastic period pictures to be proud of Billy! Tell us a bit more about your self and the TLM260. Were the pics taken in the US? The bike looks straight out of the box, very stylish riding kit too. Presume you were sponsored. I have a standard 1992 TLM260, the Pentax version of the same year differed in just colours and a pair of Renthals I believe? What were your riding impressions of the bike? NAT

    TLR260F / 314R clutch

Looks like something to ask 'jimsandiford'.

    TLR260F / 314R clutch

Don't you mean Honda TLM260RF? I would like to know which engine parts, if any, are interchangeable too!
  6. Hello andat, I have a '08 Raga 250 too (I believe there were only twenty five official 250's imported...). I have fiddled with the air screw a bit as Gasgas UK said it should be about 1.5 turns out. But I find it runs the smoothest at 2 turns out. Must say it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. I have done about nine events now and never had the carb off. Will check the rubber now! Regards, NAT.
  7. The Wassel 125 (Sachs) was my first bike in '78. Bought for

    Beta Evo 2009

Looks like it has been designed by ABBA's costume department. Some huge shoulder pads, diamante platform boots and maybe a cape would complete the look! If you can remember that then your over forty and will also look rubbish in Power Ranger lycra suits. So maybe Beta have been clever here to appeal to the younger riders who have been brought up on Transformers and the like. (The exhaust is really a ray gun.)

    Tlm 50 ?

What happend to the Paul Edmondston TLM50? Did he finish the Six Days! ....was it really a competitive machine or for publicity? Does anybody know what other mods have to be made to make one competitive, a small light rider would help I guess! Wasn't there an 80cc conversion? Was the alloy swinging arm a special or as those fitted to RS's. The one piece tank unit looks RS too... Regards, NAT.

    4rt Restrictors

I have tried taking out the exhaust port restrictor (middle and end left in place) several times now and always end up putting it back in. It doesn't seem to make any difference, maybe a slightly different sound.... But if you take out both exhaust and middle it is louder, more 'bangy' when laboured. As for a performance change it is really hard to tell. Regards, NAT.
  11. What a great day. Well organised and freindly. Thanks to Haven Trialsport and all the distributors that turned up with their full selection of bikes. The venue was an old quarry with plenty of space and variety of sections. Some people had great fun on scarey hill climbs! I think I managed to ride every '07 bike on market in one day including the Beta and Scorpa 4 strokes. Here some thoughts on the more memorable ones: Montesa 4rt - seems slightly softer and more 'tractable' than my '06 Repsol, still the 'Mercedes Benz' of bikes after riding everthing else. The best (only just). Beta 4T- Fantastic! Smooth, quiet, very easy to ride and confidence boosting. But not as much top end grunt as the Montesa. This bike will upset Montesa sales at Clubmen level. Scorpa SY250F - Very different to the above, engine sounded more like old school 4 stroke. Acquired taste in this company. Scorpa SY175F - Suprise of the day. Great fun to ride, super easy, smoooothest engine incredable grip. Best value bike on the market. Big rock steps... I don't think so. But if you are riding for fun check this out. After trying all these one can't help but think that the future is 4 stroke.... Nigel.
  12. Steve, Before you start welding consider what happens to the brake pedal position, you will have to modify that too. Most are left standard... just enjoy the extra ground clearance and bend your legs a little more, you will get used to it! Nigel.

    Tlr250 Weight?

Thanks for the comments chaps. (My Montesa 349 was 93kg on the scales, same as it said in the sales brochure). Maybe we should compile a list of all the weights..... but as with modern bikes, the 'twinshocks' seem to be much the same. I guess frame geometry makes one bike feel lighter than another. My '81 Cota 349 feels much lighter than my '79 349, but it is not. Has anybody ridden a Cota 330, 1985, the very last Montesa twinshock. NAT.

    Tlr250 Weight?

Hello, Does anybody know the weight of a TLR250. They look small and light but I rode one recently and it seemed just as heavy it's Spanish rivals. Thanks, NAT.
