  2. BW123, I had the same issues with my ‘23 Gasgas. I was always having trouble with jetting and it was a total pain to start. For your bike, it could also be an elevation issue with your current jetting. For me I bought a 28mm SC3 Smartcarb and sold my Keihin. I haven’t had any issues with it since. You may want to consider a Smartcarb. Smartcarbs don’t have jets and I haven’t had to tear down my bike since to get the old carb out and cleaned up. I also never have to worry about jets again no matter what elevation I’m riding at. I get much better MPG too and my bike doesn’t smoke anymore. If your interested in a Smartcarb they always have a Christmas sale when they take $100 off the price. https://smartcarb.com/product/smartcarb-for-gasgas-txt-250-280-300-trials/
  3. Jimmie, No, I don’t have a TY but I’m looking for one. The ones I’ve seen for sale are very trashed out and nearly all of them have the seat and seat pan removed. I was just hoping to stock up on one for when I do locate a bike. No worries about you wanting to keep yours. I totally understand. Yes, you have to be very careful when ordering tires. It’s obvious that they made a mistake but it’s very easy for the purchaser to do the same thing. It’s amazing how many sellers don’t even list whether the tire is tubeless or tube type. I nearly ordered a tire that was tubeless type when I wanted tubeless. I paused the order just as I was about to push the button and decided to call. Glad I did call. Good luck on your build! RonH
  4. Paint job and stickers done !
  5. Here is a clean mud guard that will allow to put aside the precious new set on the occasion of a small ride.
  6. New to trials and setting up a low-hours used 2022 gas gas txt 300. It has factory jetting, JJH clip 4, 125 main, 48 idle, float parallel with base. Carb cleaned and checked out. Sometimes hard to start and can foul the plug if choke used too many times/kicks. Also, sometimes it will try to start cold without the choke. This makes me think it is too rich on the idle jet. I tried adjusting the air screw to maximize idle speed after setting the idle a bit high. This was not very conclusive honestly, but it seemed like the air screw wanted to be at least 2 turns out, so also pointing to a smaller idle jet. What are people usually running on these engines? Are they usually run a bit rich to maintain low end power? Additionally, I ordered and am going to install S3 lower compression head to help with starting and tame the power for learning a bit. Will this affect jetting? Any other recommendations appreciated!
  7. New to trials and setting up a used 2022 gas gas txt 300. Any recommendations on where to set the shifter height? Right now it is set well above the peg height.

  9. Sorry been on holiday had no signal all week, glad some one picked up on it thanks. Yeah doesnt show on the parts diagram but is on most keihin carbs with the security screws. Daft really how hard they are to obtain.
  10. It's time to refresh the old mudguard.

  12. Ahhh, I see why the probs with the photos now. Thanks for the explanation on that! RonH, I do still have the seat pan. It has many cracks that you can't see, and I've already began the repairs for that. My plans are to attempt to find a useable seat and use the seat base. Sorry about that. But you've got me interested now...... Do you have one that you are working on? If so, any pics of that? By the way, my IRC TR-011 tire came today, but I've already sent it back on the assumption that the wrong one was sent to me by mistake. IRC makes 2 types of the same model or trials tire; a TR-011TT (Tube Type), and a TR-011TL, which is for modern bikes with tubless rims. The tire that came today had the word "TUBLESS" embossed on the side of the tire, and a sticker on the tread that said "TUBLESS". I can understand someone's mistake on this deal. But if IRC has tire lettering with "TUBLESS" on each side of a tire that's meant to run an inner tube, that seems kinda dumb to me..... 🙄 Wouldn't think they'd do that???? I've not seen a Tube Type IRC TR-011 yet so I don't know...... Jimmie

  14. Thanks for posting the photos. Awesome bike! Regarding your problem with the photos: There is a limit you can post unless you’re a paying member. However, you can still post all the pictures you want if you link them to a posting website like Flickr or Imgur. Oh yeah, do you still have the fiberglass seat pan? I’d like to buy it if at all possible. Good luck!
  15. I think I've posted too large of files in the post and photos above, perhaps? Something is keeping me from posting the newer photos I took yesterday. I get some sort of file limit size message. Anyway, I'm grateful for the opinions and help here on the matter of what tube to run. Thanks! Jimmie
  16. Thanks for the info. I have direct access to Parts Unlimited and Western Powersports, both who sell carb rebuild kits and neither show that gasket. I remember for years guys would talk about replacing a similar gasket on the Keihin FCR carbs and many swore they didn't exist. Now you can get them no problem. So thanks again for the info. I ordered one and hopefully I will see a similar improvement
  17. I'm planning to adapt this wheel to an AJP hub or mount the rim on the original hub to convert it to tubeless, like on the factory bike. The hardest part will be finding spokes at an affordable price. Alternatively, I could laser-clean the spokes and repaint them with Sprido epoxy. we'll see.
  18. Yeah, I'll try to post a couple of photos. My phone and this laptop are currently "not on speaking terms", so maybe some old pics...... The picture of "the yellow bike" are after I first got the bike in May. I had to tear the motor out to repair a broken upper rear motor mount, so I repainted the frame white. This bike had A LOT of problems, issues, and stuff needing repaired and replaced. It still has a lot of stuff that needs addressing to be a reliable ride, but I'm slowly getting these things taken care of. Needs a front tire, shocks, handlebars, and other nagging little things. I put on a Clarke Racing white plastic tank to deal with rust and leakage issues). I replaced the cracked fenders. I have a new side panel (in white) coming, and just made a seat and seat base (very ugly stuff), and a very ugly skid plate, which I have no pictures of. I may try posting the newer pics from my phone, if possible...... Tr1AL, Thank You So Much for your help here. Think I'll go with the IRC heavy Duty tube, and hopefully, not have any issues with pinch flats........ Will try to add another newer pic later. Jimmie

  21. NOT in the parts book ! Take the 2 x security screws out of the jet tower/jet block and underneath it there is a 'D' shaped plastic gasket with three small 'o' shaped bits attached , that is what he is talking about . Ebay sells them , they come in gasket sets direct from CHINA. SEARCH IN 'PWK GASKET SET'
  22. I have a Tube-Type IRC TR-011 tire ordered to replace the very old, cracking, and worn Dunlop on my 1974 TY250 project. Do most people run a "regular thickness" inner tube, or the thicker (and heavier) 3mm/"heavy duty" tubes? I don't like the weight of the heavier tubes, but hate pinch flats even worse, where I'd suppose the thicker tubes might be better in that department. I'll be running 2 rim locks. What is the reasonable tire pressure range for a tubed tire like this? Sorry for this question, but the only other experience I've had with Trials tires was on my 2010 Gas Gas 280, which was the tubless rear, and a Pirelli MT-43/Nuetech TUBliss on my old KTM 300. Thanks, Jimmie

What's with irc tyres nowadays...I haven't worn 2.75 lbs from the old one, but is is tubed v tubeless.
  25. Italian wear !
  26. I just saw that this was posted in the Beta section. Supposedly Beta has some sort of mod for their Keihin versions that eliminates or modifies the long overflow spout I mentioned.
  27. What gasket are you talking about? I just looked at a parts diagram and the only 2 gaskets at all are the carb top and the float bowl. I know the floats themselves can get knocked out of whacked when removing/replacing the float bowl and that causes all kinds of weird issues. I have a 2024 300 and its a real pain to start sometimes. A lot of the time. Last night I went to start it and it wouldn't at all. Put a new plug in it, still wouldn't. Old plug was very wet. Did the old full throttle, no choke routine and it finally started. I never had this problem with my 2020 300. The newer ones have a very long overflow spout internally that I have read causes issues. I can't help but wonder if it being so long is allowing it to overflow into the motor before it goes out of the carb. Sorry, didn't mean to rabbit trail. So again, clarify which gasket you are referring to.
  28. Don’t think you’ll find the original ‘Dunlop trials wellies’ pattern we all used but they still do one similar called Dunlop Acifort safety wellington boots. Google ‘ribbed safety wellingtons’ or similar and there’s a selection but those look nearest.
