Tell of too much oil in your pre mix is how badly the exhaust plugs up with unburnt oil residue, naturally fuel rich condition intake also relates to oil rich. Your air cleaner filter needs to be clean and oiled correctly or that will starve the engine of air and lead to rich operation and poor performance, the reed valves need to seat perfect or scavenging pressure will force fuel and compression backwards through the intake so make sure the reeds seat perfect. Compression test is never a bad idea for diagnosis and future reference if you have the equipment. π

What octane fuel? If in doubt drop the main jet needle one notch and test ride it π

Thanks, I'll try the water test to make sure. Yes, know the brakes will be DOT It's just the clutch I wasn't sure about π -

I suspect you are looking at DOT fluid; another test to try, mineral oil does not mix with water, DOT fluid mixes with water very easy. Only your clutch hydraulics would use mineral oil, brakes will always be DOT fluid. -

As title says, frame number suggests it's build is march 04. The master cylinder tops have been changed for aftermarket ones so can't go by the colour of the top. I had the Idea to take the top off and dab a cotton bud into fluid and rub it onto a painted surface (not on the bike π) and it took the paint off, so assuming I have DOT4 and not mineral oil unless that strips paint as well π€ Want to top up master cylinder and fit a repair kit. Cheers Tim -

GasGas had the same forks at the time, so you could look at them also.

If you can actually find a seal and piston kit they are quite expensive usually , it may be better to pay the extra and buy a rear master made by AJP/BRAKTEC . Trials people refer to this as braketech for some reason but if you go to www.braketech.com you are not going to find what you want www.braktek.com is the real name of this company. Best wishes Alan.

I found their site earlier today and got sort it out .thanks

If you go to The Hell Team's website (www.thehellteam.com) then go to TECH SUPPORT / GASGAS INFO then there is a folder called CHASSIS NUMBERS EXPLAINED with all that info, for all GasGas years. Tonnes of other good GasGas info there as well. Parts manuals, User manuals, service info, etc etc. https://www.thehellteam.com/technical-support/gas-gas-parts-and-service-manuals
-
@Tr1AL Thanks again! That is super helpful the rear brakes need done (unfortunately I think the rear master need rebuilt/replaced too)
-
@excess You probably saw that your shock is not a OLLE but the SACHS ZF that is a standard on a TXT pro looks like they saved money with a cheaper finish on the body.

Lampkins (Beta UK) did have a complete spare parts order system on line for all years and models. The UK mail system must be very good because I could frequently get parts delivered to the US in one week which was faster than most US suppliers. In the past, shipping cost was comparable but a few years ago shipping went up 2x or more so I have not used their site lately.
-
Formula brakes /clutch master cylinders & slaves are no longer available mass production and parts are hard to find although there are some bits still around if you search hard enough I recently found a front calliper seal rebuild kit while searching for something else. Brake pads are easy to find GALFER or GOLDFREN make them to fit. Go to www.rideformula.com . Best wishes Alan. PS Formula make the TECH branded trials forks that are now used by a lot of Trials moto manufacturers.

Thank You! I've got it in my garage now so I'm able to dig a little deeper now. I really appreciate the help! Runs pretty well. Needs some maintenance

The Canada-France relationship is still intact, despite the attempts of the orange guy. Please hook me up as I regularly move things along this route. It may help Norm's economy a little... Thanks. Cheers... Paul
-
Fortunately I am Canadian π which means shipping is expensive, taxes are high and my money has low value (at the moment). I'd hook you up with Norm the OSSA god if you lived closer, he only lives 2 or 300 kilometre away and you are correct I am lucky to have lots of good rider friends π several are motorcycle dealers and that helps too.
-
You are lucky to have such a friend lemur, and although buying new parts is a potential solution, new OSSA specific parts simply cannot be found anywhere that I've searched to date. If you have a source, please share. On the flip-side, you live in the USA and your political leader has pretty much forced isolation upon you. Not my business of course, but that's obviously going to affect how you find your solutions. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with that, and the rest of the world is a big place... which has yet to provide what I need! Some patience and further enquiries needed, methinks. Thanks for your input. Cheers... Paul

You can buy brand new forks and a brand new shock that fits right onto your bike which is relatively fast easy and expensive, used suspension parts are not worth my time and money unless they are local sourced, I need parts now and 100% working, not more parts that need fixing. International purchase and shipping of parts might be easy where you live, not here in North America, If my Ossa rider friend that owns about five OSSA bikes doesn't have the parts, they likely don't exist in my country, ymmv.
-
Ah brilliant Chris I'll check that out. Thanks very much.
-
Beta have a main parts source in Ireland https://www.nmcbikes.com/beta-parts/ The Rev4 is not a current model but you should be able to get most parts you need. The suspension is obselete but can be repaired or rebuilt. You will need to pay VAT and import on anything shipped from UK.

If only such animals existed over in Europe. If they did, I'd probably have started with the TR and looked for an Explorer kit of parts. Not a bad suggestion, but sadly, very unlikely to happen. Cheers... Paul
-
Nope, sorry but you are incorrect. The Explorer has Marzocchi forks with steel stanchions, the TR aluminium; the rear shock of the Explorer is an OllΓ© and the TR has an Γhlins. Cheers... Paul
