My TY250S fork sliders are pitted in several places and as a result they ripped the fork seals to pieces, even though this i bought the new fork seals about, oohh, a year ago I have only just attempted to put them in. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had to sort out their own sliders, (as I can't afford to get a basket cases forks re-chromed!) I have been told that using some wet and dry of a grindstone will take the edge of the pits and therefore the seals will simply glide over them. Has anyone got any other ideas?

I need to lighten my flywheel on my 1984 TY250S and was wondering if anyone has done this and if so how much did they machine off? I have access to a lathe.

hi when/if you fit a barrel with a shortened inlet (eg J Shirt) to a pinky engine, the carb will therefore be mounted a cm or so nearer the engine - so, how do connect the air box rubber to the inlet side of the carb as surely it won't be long enough? that's it - I'll sit back and await the flood of suggestions

hi ive got a dilemer with my clutch what it is is that i start the bike up and then pull te clutch in and put it into gear and it pulls away without even letting the clutch out

Hey all I need to improve the braking on my TY250. Currently I have drum brakes but they are not up to scratch for time trials. I have heard about a talon kit to convert the front brake to a disc. But I am unsure if they still make it or any are still around. I could swap the front ends out of a TY250 pinky. To this extent I was wondering if a newer front wheel and brake set will work if I make up a bracket. I have heard of a 2000 Gas Gas front wheel, spindle and brake being fitted. Does anyone have any of the above they are willing to sale? If I cannot get any of the above, can I improve the drum brakes in anyway? Cheers Scott

Hi all I am extremely happy today, I finally finished my rebuild on my TY250 mono shock and it only took 12 days and

I thought someone may like to see this picture of a whitehawk mk 2 that we found while looking for pictures of the earlier mk 1!

I've seen some mono's with some padding on the seat, it looks to be factory (maybe from a street version). I'd really like to find one, anyone have an idea. Thanks, Jeff

Does anyone know what the part ref is for the spacers that slide into the holes on the Pinky's front disk, there are 6no. in total. Two of the bolts have been snapped off on mine but the remaining ones are also too long so the disc won't tighten up fully leaving it slightly loose. These maybe home made or just the wrong spacers that someone has found kicking about. If anyone knows where to get them that would be great The manual I have is for TY mono but doesn't have the front disc details on as it is for the drum brake version.

Hi, im looking for some info about a ty80 whitehawk (mk1) i bought one and i want to restore it. ( bought it in parts) there is almost nothing to find on the net about it so if any one has atleast a picture of it or a brochure or anything else, i would be very happy. cheers Derk

Am wondering what to do with my Pinky when I have re-built it, am undecided if I should keep it and ride it in beginners trials or sell it and buy something a little newer, lighter, more user friendly etc. Part of me wants to keep it but I know all the hard work will never look as good or fetch as much money once I get going on it and drop it on the ground a lot! I have really enjoyed working on it but parts seem very expensive for what they are and it isn't the lightest of bikes it has to be said.

TY250 Pinky Can anyone shed any light on how to get the front wheel off without resorting to a lot of swearing and large hammers!? I have one of the forks off which is the side which doesn't have the disc brake,this slid off easily after undoing the clamp.Ddoes the spindle on the disc brake side unscrew with the large star bolt or is removed another way?, If it unscrews using the large star bolt then I will get one to fit but wanted to make sure I wasn't barking up the wrong tree before I did. This is the last part of the bike to come apart before the rebuild can commence!! Thanks

I have been told to run my 1990 TY250 pinky on a mix which ranges from 35:1 all the way up to 70:1! Am looking to see what other people run theirs on please cheers

I have a ty 1974 with a steel tank and it holds 1.25 gallons. I was wondering if the al thanks from the 1976 bike were smaller

Hey All Resprayed my bike today and phoned Sammy Miller for some parts. To my surprise they have discontinued the TY decals. The only mono decals they have are the early ones with the diagonal red blocks and the pinky ones. I need a set from the late 80s with the big yellow and red TY letters for the tank, red Yamaha letters for the forks and red 250 for the seat. Anyone know where I can get a set??? Hey all Stripped my TY 250 mono today and starting to rebuild it but I need to know 3 things: 1. what is the white frame colour code or name or can I get away with any white? 2. what paint it best to use on the engine as the covers are magnesium. 3. What is the best way to clean up the mudguards and removing some of the scratches? Cheers in advance Scott
