hi all at some stage i will need to replace both wheels and was wondering if there was a known set of wheels that fit eg dt stuff. was thinking that if the other wheels had a different spoke configuration it might be easier to get different rims? cheers

I just thought that I would share the fantastic customer service I have received from Sammy Miller. I have a 1974 TY 250 which I am doing up and it requires a new seat (the existing metal pan is 100% rust.) I ordered a new one from Sammy Miller’s which when it arrived did not fit as it is for the later models which do not have a fiberglass seat surround. However, it was not a million miles out and I was sure that if I took it to bits I could modifiy it by taking off the lip and repositioning the holes. First though thought I would talk to them to see if they had a different seat. They didn’t but sent me a blank seat base which I then modified and drilled the holes and…

Hello out there. I've cleaned me carb and its alot better.Finally took me petral tap out to have a look and it was a right mucky object. Anyway Iam still getting fuel bubblin out of the end of the exhaust. Would this still be the float in me carb being faulty? Cheers Squid.

Hi I have a ty 250 monoshock that i am restoring, I think it is an 85 or 86 with a red frame and forks, i was just wondering if any one new of good match for the frame and also for the white tank. Thanks Nick

I want to get a 350 mono engine, but where can I find one in the UK? I don't want to buy a modern bike, because they are rubbish, and I know the 250 is normally considered smoother and easier to ride, I've just wanted a 350 for years. I've got the info for Ellastone offroad and I'll give them a ring sometime, but is there anywhere else to considor?

I have several 1975+- TY175. One is a fun original vintage bike. One is a beatup (but top shape mechanically with 250 tubes, wide pegs etc) buddy bike to teach kids to ride on. This one suddenly died and lost spark. This has been a recurring problem with all of mine. Stators seems susceptible to heat problems. Is this common? SO, before I start chasing the gremlins again, I'd like to consider changing to solid state ignition. I know B&J has a kit but its pretty expensive for the value of these bikes. Are there any later Yamaha solid state ignitions that will bolt in with minor modifications only? (i.e dremel tool, not NC machining) I am interested in low end, sm…

Just bought a 320 barrel for my twinshock. I have read that the early ones did not rev and were modified to improve the situation. How can I tell which is which and what are the modifications required to tune an early one?

Looking for advice on uprating the front end on my 78 ty Wondering if magical internals ,damper rods and springs along with adjusters are the way to go. Recently put rockshocks on the back what a difference that made, but now the front end feels dead any ideas? also can i get the drums relined anywhere to improve the brakes?

I have been wanting a TY250A for ever. Ever since I worked at a Yamaha shop when I was 16 at the parts counter in 1974. I finally picked up a clean TY250A. Got a great deal on it too. I have been restoring it over the last two weeks and have gotton it almost perfect. I wish I knew how to post pics or I would!
