I started a winter project , purchased a roached 93 GG GT 160 frame, subframe and swingarm , a Paoli USD Beta fork and 96 JT shock, the doner bike is a 2003 TTR 125, while waiting for the parts to arrive I rebuilt the engine with BBR 150cc kit, performance clutch and have a stock flywheel as well as a lightened one and a CRF 150 carb and will be converting to hydro clutch as well a fabricating carbon bodywork , airbox and tank. The idea is to have a little thumper with trials geo ( I hate the TTR geo) and I needed a long term project. Hey thanks for your input. This is my first trials but I have been riding motorcycles a long time. I am going to buy a bike this week and want to know which you think is a better bike, the 2003 sherco 290 or the 1999 Gas Gas 270.

For you bike gurus that have ridden or owned both the 2 stroke and 4 stroke bikes which do you prefer and why? Currently Riding a Cota 300rr but looking to trade it in and try a 2 stroke TRS 300 Raga for this year. Biggest drawback is going from injection back to a carb but shouldn't be too big of an issue it i get it jetted right. Whats the power comparison on the 2 stroke vs 4? I know with snowmobiles you need almost twice the horsepower in a 4 stroke to get the same performance as a 2 stroke. Plus the weight savings is nice on the TRS. Thoughts?

Following on from my other Beta thread... can anyone comment on what the Beta 4t Evos are like? Are the 300's a mellow well handling bike? And how do they stack up against the 4RT? I've had a slight hankering for a 4RT and like the idea of a 4 stroke generally but whenever I mention I usually get told that it will be no good in the mud (we get LOTS of that where I am) and that 'Ill get fed up with the weight of it. Not so worried about the weight, it would be lighter than my Fantic, I'm sure! But after enjoying my TRS and previously my Gas Gas (which I loved) I'd be a bit concerned about buying something thats going to be a pig to ride then regretting it, just b…

A rough guesstimate is all I'm looking for. Don't ever want to find out the hard way, but say trail riding on you're every day trials bike, be it 125/250/300, how many miles would/should I expect ??

I bought a ccm 644 a couple of months ago so I could nip out and ride off road when I haven't got enough time to get the trials bike out ( and lack of space to practice) but I've been finding it frustrating, it's bloody heavy even though its relatively light for a trail bike, it doesn't lift the front ( guys on the ccm forum have confirmed they're very front end heavy) so if i blip it, it just spins up. Generally I find its not that much fun, I'm hanging on guiding it rather than riding it. Reason I bought a big bike was I wanted something to greenlane on but could do a bit of road work as well, but think it might be the wrong thing and maybe I should just go to a road …

National and international trials events . How long before they are affected? what action should be taken , if any?

Has anyone found some sort of after market fan for radiator on trials bikes, Maybe a fan off a computer or marine type, waterproof fan? Stock ones are very expensive and I'm trying to help a friend on a budget.

Ok, I'm sick of getting changed in the wind and rain whilst standing in my socks in the clarts and I'm not too impressed by the effect the salt on the roads is having on my already scruffy Sherco. I don't want a van and after the fun parking at Rookhope a couple of weeks ago 4WD would be nice. So, is it possible to fit a trials bike into the back of any of the lwb 4wd vehicles currently available in the UK? I'm thinking Landrover 110, LWB Trooper, or even the commercial version of the Discovery

Ok looked around couldn't find anything, so here goes. Coming from a dirtbike background where proper suspension setup is key, sag, static sag, preload oil weight etc, and now in the trials world I'm being told that spring rate not important unless you are a top level rider. Im curious is this true ? I have a stock suspension 2015 Beta 300 4T and weigh 200lbs and was thinking of getting the stiffer spring rates, will this help with an Intermediate rider ? I did notice in the owners manual heaviest weight for the stock suspension was something like 178lbs.

Following on from a comment in a thread in the Beta section, and out of my own curiosity, what is the best technique for mixing 2 stroke accurately?

just wondering what you guys use for breaking the bead of the rear tyre?? I have used a bench vice and the corner of a step and jump on the wheel, niether of which are particularly good for the rim. I came across These which look pretty good, but wouldn't a G-clamp do the same job???? looking for something ultra portable.

Looking out of the window this morning and watching the rain I was thinking what is the grippiest bike? - forget build quality and all the usual best bike stuff, in the snottiest conditions, greasy clay, chalk or mud, slimy rocks, though being a southerner don't know too much about that, what is the bike with best ability to get you to the ends cards feet up. Hi i have just purchased a 014 beta evo 250 as my first bike as a newbie to the sport, the previous owner has taken off the flywheel weight but has given it to me in a bag of spares with the bike. As a complete novice to trials do i need to put it back on or is it better to learn without it? What is the benefit of having the weight installed? the former owner was a very experienced trials rider so i want to make sure i am not going to have trouble by leaving it off Any advice will be greatly received as this is all new to me Thanks Andy

I have bent the front rotor on my 03 SY-250. It's not badly bent but its not usable in it's current condition. Has any one had any success straightening a rotor? If so how did you go about it? Any helpful ideas will be appreciated. I don't want to fork over the bucks for a new one. After all the front brake pads have hardly ever touched the front rotor except for mere moments just before I have gone over the bars. Thanks Doug

Hi guys Im well and truly sick of flat tires. I have some of the coolest spots to ride on my doorstep but flats are becoming a major issue Issue is mainly with the front, rear is easy to plug and slime seems to be working. So my plan is to try jam a pool noodle in the front tire. Either just a noodle and no tube or split the noodle and use it between tube and tire, like a thick liner. What do you think? Might it work? Im desperate! !
