Gas Gas

  1. Started by pluggingalong,

I bought a 2013 TXT 280 about 6 months ago. I am new to anything related to trials bikes. Anyone know why the bike would have a slight grinding sound when the motor is running in neutral? I doubt the bike has many hours on it, as it looks showroom new. Thanks,

Hi, I have just bought a 2003 Pampera mk3 and it has a really stiff and notchy gear change. It’s the same engine as fitted to the early non-Pro TXT’s. Can anyone advise on possible cause and fix for this? The shaft doesn’t appear to be visibly bent from initial inspection (without removal). I have drained the oil (which was low) and filled with 650ml Putoline Light Gear Oil which hasn’t made an initial difference.

I am new to trials seen. I have a Enduro and motocross background . Trying to get my suspension set up and I have ran across some questions . My bike seems to have 38mm forks. I am kinda a fat kid and I need to upgrade my springs. But I can't seem to find anything for my bike. Can I update my triple trees and forks to 40mm. Thank you Mark

Hello, does anyone know how much torque is necessary for head bolts when replacing top end on a Gas Gas txt 280 2014? Would appreciate any expertise! Any other advice when replacing will not fall on deaf ears. Thank you much!

I have a 2022 125cc GP. The last trial I rode at the weekend. The clutch got very heavy to pull in. And then it would get light again, the clutch still worked OK either way. What would cause this or is it normal.

Model: GasGas TXT Racing 125, 2018 Carb: Dellorto PHBL 26 BS I have just bought this bike & am struggling to adjust the carb so that it runs cleanly. The fuel screw needs to be quite far out (4.5 turns) to get it to start reliably, & the idle itself sounds fine, but off-idle (bottom 1/8th throttle) doesn't pick up clean with this setting & the needle in standard position (3rd from top clip). If I drop the needle the pickup cleans up a bit, but at any needle setting the engine sounds raggy at around 1/4 throttle. Returns to idle ok & w/o pinging. Fully open it sounds fine. Jetting is I think standard, but the needle looks scored & doesn…

The idle speed on my newly purchased 2018 TXT Racing goes down when the fan kicks in. Is this normal or an indication of an electrical issue? Any advice appreciated.

Hi have recently destroyed my carbon airbox on my 2018 250 gp, and was wondering whether a plastic one of a 2022 model would fit as I've got an opportunity to buy one at a good price👍

  10. Hello. Can someone please tell me what temperature the stat should cut in and out at. I am using the stat in the top of the radiator but a previous owner has also fitted an inline one. My cylinder head always holds around 60 degrees c with the radiator stat. The fan is running quite a bit to hold the 60 degrees. Thank you in advance

  11. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to purchase a year old bike that is a 2020 model, previously I had a 2011 bike that was a 250 txt. I’m relatively new to trials but been around bikes some 40 years, so used to kicking over bigger cc bikes, I also own a 600 single British bike that needs a damn good committed kick. My friend has a 2015 280 txt that I can start ok 1st or 2nd kick, I guess you can tell where this is going, I’ve had the carb completely apart for a good clean checked the needle setting and jets, now all nice and clean and correct size and settings for a 300 Tried different plugs, alas it’s a proper b**ch to start, I’m 6ft tall so not short in the leg, I engage…

  14. Hi Guys, My 1998 txt 270 is puzzling me when it takes over 30 kicks to start it! it never used to be like that! but once its runng is fine and will start frist kick after that! The bike is a quick bike, it has slow action throttle on it and makes no difference what so ever. I cleaned airbox and filter, pulled carb off and cleaned it, only thing i noticed was on the chock jet, the rubber O-ring was a bit perrished on one side, so im not sure if that would stop it starting? I replaced the plug in it, for a new one too. any suggestions? Cheers Regards, Colin

  15. Hello. I have recently removed this 6002 rs bearing with great difficulty.... I am now trying to install a new bearing. I have tried the heat freeze method but it won't work for this bearing. I've had the case at 130 degrees and the bearing in the freezer overnight.... I have now got to the point of heating the case and gently trying to press the bearing in. The problem is it starts to go slightly out of alignment no matter what I seem to try. I can measure 1 mm difference accross the bearing. I'm looking for some advice please 🙏 thank you very much

So my 2014 GasGas has developed a very annoying creaking noise which is very difficult to locate precisely. Even the slightest movement pushing down on the footrest makes it creak. It's definitely not a squeak and sounds more like dry plastic rubbing than anything else I've taken the rear shock out and the swinging arm moves up and down smoothly with no noise. Similarly the dog bones move freely with no noise. Thinking it could be the shock itself I've removed the spring but the piston shaft moves freely (with a firm push) with no noise (also had it refurbished about 2 years ago with little use since). What on earth could it be? Open to trying anything as its …

Went out last week practising and 2hrs in my bike had died, looked at the carb and the airbox to cuarb rubber bung had come apart from the airbox, so there was say a 2mm gap in the bottom! so this week ive changed the plug, cleaned the box and filter, and drained the carb from the nut underneath, and it still wont start, tried witht he choke both on and off and wont even try to run, only thing which causes some noise is if i tip the bike over until fuel comes out the overflow then kick it with choke on,it will start then die almost instantly? what can it be!!!
