Hi, I'm new to this Trials riding. Got a Cota 315r and 311 to spruce up a bit and try. The forks on the 311 need refurbished, but I can't find any info about oil capacity anywhere on the web. I've got new seals to fir, but can anyone tell me the weight and capacity of oil for the USD forks on this 1993 model of Montesa Cota? Cheers in advance. Matt

Hi fellas, It's been a while since my last post but I have finally started the refurb. of my 79/80 Cota 349 (it's only been sitting in the garage for 20months, not bad in my book). Everything has been straight forward so far however, I'm splitting the cases to replace all the bearings and seals but having trouble removing the clutch drive gear (the one on the crank shaft). I have the flywheel and clutch off and it looks as though some heat has been applied to the crank shaft in the past. There are no signs of damage or repairs to the crank, it all looks good. So is applying a little heat to the gear the trick to getting it off? I am a little nervous of applying brute …

I've just been having a bit of trouble getting a rebuild kit for the front Grimeca caliper of my 1999 315. Montesa don't list the caliper components in the parts list so identifying them is difficult as they are getting a bit old. After a bit of sending bits back and forth BVM have identified the caliper as the same as on the Beta Techno from the same era so what you need are the bits for that. BVM stock code - BE2002710000 - Caliper Kit Grimeca/Brembo - Seals BVM stock code - BE2569490000 - Caliper Pistons 32mm - Pistons ETA - You can back bleed the system with a syringe on the bench but only after you've removed the ball bearing under the bleed nipple. Once you've go…

Anyone know off hand the size of the front fork drain plug - I need to order gasket/washer and don't want to pull the old one off until I have replacements in hand as it may take a week to get the part.

So, I'm replacing the kickstart gears on my newly purchased 304. I understand the problem that causes the failure is the weak "Z" shaped retainer that bends and allows the gears to misalign. Is there a good fix to the problem so it does not reoccur? I've seen a photo of a strap that crosses the gear to retain it but am uncertain if it would be a suitable fix. Would like to hear of other ways to prevent the gears from misaligning. Greg

Hi i was wondering if anybody could help me I've been offered a PTB Part Number 16400-NN4-L72 which is advertised as a fully programmable throttle body with twin mapping switch. Ive had a quick look and it seems the numbers match a 300rr PTB. Before i purchase it could someone confirm that it can be remapped to my chosen settings and secondly can it be fitted onto a 2015 repsol, many thanks in advance

I have some old small mountain bike lights that used to run off a battery in a water bottle. I was wondering if they could be run off the electricle system as most bikes come with a light from factory. the lights are 15 and 20 watts each, I think they used to run off 7.2 volts but really not sure on that one. would these lights be hard on my magneto? thanks for the help. I want to start night ridding soon and need some good light.

Hi I am rebuilding the above engine for a colleague. Is the gearbox timed in the same way a Sherpa is? For example the Sherpa selector drum is positioned with the cluster in neutral and this is obvious, as the straight side of the diameter with the selection indents is to the rear and set vertical. I am sure I can work it out but it is 31 years since I have had a Cota engina apart and that was a 250 and i always appreciate any tips. Thank you Martin

So I've been told there are restrictors in the header pipe, airbox and in the mid-pipe. I've dealt with the header pipe, but since I got my Monty second hand, how do I determine if the other restrictors are still in there? Sad to say, I'm not even sure what the mid-pipe is. I'm guessing it is the convoluted aluminum structure between the header pipe and the silencer. Thought that was the expansion chamber??? Cheers.
