Just a note regarding front pads. I inherited my bike with Galfer pads and was never very happy with the bite of them - they worked up to a point but the brake never really seemed powerful enough. To be fair to them they may have been contaminated with something prior to me getting the bike. Whatever, doing a bit of research on here I followed some advice from The Addict, I think, and got myself some Braking sintered pads from BVM and they really have transformed the front. Plenty of bite and feel and even with the single pot caliper I've always got plenty of brakes - I'd recommend them if anyone feels the need for new pads.

MfG Benjamin Gems

I need your help everyone. My 4rt has recently started to make a rumbly ticking noise from the clutch. I cant remember whether it goes away if you or pull in or release the clutch but it is there all the time. I dont know if is connected but recently I have noticed that it does not change gear easily until the engine has been run for a while and everything is hot which has never been an issue in the past. I have replaced the oils (repsol 4t & lub htx) so I dont think it that. Is it possible that I just need a new clutch or is it something more sinister?? Thanks in advance monty fans

Hi. Does anyone know the torque values for the cylinder nuts and cylinder head nuts on a montesa 314R? Failing that, does anyone know what it is for the 315? Also does anyone know where I can get a manual for a 314? Thanks.

Guys took my 04 315R out at the weekend, and noticed a bit of a rattle coming from the clutch case area... Only noticed it as I was doing some slow work on the bike... Is this a common thing, or could it be something more serious, that I should be looking at instead of surfing this forum!? Cheers - Boner.

Now about the eccentric adjuster. When this is assembled over the M6 stud, the adjustment made, and the locking nut is tightened up, there is still movement in the adjuster plate. Should the adjuster plate be locked tight in position? If so, then the back of the eccentric adjuster is proud by 0.2mm preventing it being locked tight? Is this correct, or have I got to machine this so its 'sub-flush' therefore allowing the adjuster plate to be locked preventing movement?

Hi I have a 1976 Cota 247 and I got hold of a new tank which has the half trail type seat and large gold lettering COTA 247 (not the full 247T but much bigger than trials seat - I have seen similar setup on 348/349's ) The tank sits nicely but the mounting points on the side (no holes drilled - it is unused) are at least 10mm too wide from my frame and I am wondering if the later model 247s had a wider frame. I am asking because I have a guy interested but don't want to sell him something that won't fit.

Hey there guys im asking this question for a buddie of mine. My friend has a 91 Montesa 311 and the front end is a little on the stiff side. I helped him adjust the dampening (i believe is the right fork) and it helped but the suspension is still a little on the stiffer side than it should be. How do you adjust the rebound or the left for on this bike. Thanks!

I had to remove my silencer and noticed that, in addition to having had the end cap swapped per the standard road kit removal, the other end has been removed and refitted by a previous owner, presumably to perform some modification. Perhaps removal of something. Does anyone know what the inside of an 09 should contain before I start drilling? I'm sure it sounds louder since I had the mounting bracket welded so I am thinking there might be packing round a perforated tube and the heat has affected it.

Making very slow progress with this re-build. Now just getting to the point thinking about electrics. Assembled ign coil. Looks very close to the top of the exhaust. Is this right. Gap is about 10mm. Looks like something is going to melt ! Will just need to power the ign coil, and then a 6v horn, to get a 'day time' MOT. (Horn body is actually to one side of the exhaust, so a bigger gap than it looks). There are 5 coils on the magneto, black, white, green, yellow 2 coils. The wiring diagram shows black, green, yellow joined together (?), with an unmarked wire, presumably white, going to another unmarked part, again presumably the stop light switc…
