Montesa

Hi all, The rear shock rebound adjuster on my 2000 cota 315r sheared inside. It goes round-and-round and never reaches a stop. I hear that clickers often seize on older bikes. Unfortunately you can not buy a replacement clicker from Montesa, nor from Showa. I was told that I'd have to buy a whole new shock. So I need to have a replacement clicker machined. If other people have the same problem, then I could ask the machinist to produce a batch of these clickers, which should considerably lower the per-clicker cost. So please let me know ASAP if you would like to get in on this. BTW, I am in north-eastern USA, for purposes of estimating shipping cost.

How does this thing pop out for cleaning? My Beta ones just popped out. These look pretty flimsy so I didn't want to force it. Do you bend it in the middle and pull from the middle and then squeeze the four little plastic tabs that are fitted through the mounting holes?

Has anyone discovered a match for the paint on the clutch case on an 09 model?

hy me again just another problem i have a 4rt montesa and the clutch drags alot when jumping on rocks and i pull clutch in its still wanting to go i have to touch brakes aswell , ive changed the seal kit and oil also fully bled clutch with fresh fluid is there any other thing ive mist regards ste

I know this topic has been covered about 6 mths ago, when were all speculating about what Montesa might be up to, but now we're well into 2010 and WTC has kicked off I'm amazed there hasn't been any news on these yet? Pidcock's Montesa page is just a placeholder too. Does anyone know if there are any updates from the 09 model? Or whether they might be a bit more realistic on price? The pound is on the rise against the Euro, and looks like it will go further with all the economic strife with Greece and others, so I would expect prices might come down purely on that basis. Has anyone spotted any significant changes on the works bikes? I read an interview with Liai Sainz so…

Thought l’d up-grade to iridium, but compared it to old one it looks different. Have i got the right one? Is the non-threaded bit part pf the seal?

Alright guys.... ..well, I picked the bike up today...at last.....seeing as I bought it off ebay it's turned out okay..!! The only thing is that it hasn't come with a manual? What should the standard gearing be on a 2004? Currently - it's on 10:40.... Also - the forks have an obvious rebound adjuster on the top right light......but look like they have some adjustment on the top left and bottom right too.....anyone know what these adjust?...maybe pre-load and compression damping? Finally - it's got a bit of a dent in the header pipe....and some chunks out of the clutch casing.....are these parts going to cost me a fortune if I decided to replace them?...(you know how…

Just picked up an '06 4RT with low hours and just wondered if there are any issues or setup advise anyone would like to offer up? I noticed while tinkering with it that the rebound knob on the top of the right fork leg seems 'stuck', it will not turn. Any ideas on what's going on and more importantly, how to fix the probelem? Keeping a clean airbox/carb! I use filter oil, grease around the the lip of the filter, grease even at the mouth of the airbox lid! But I continue to get dirt in the carb, I always check the boots between carb, cylinder and box to make sure seal is tight! Air box has no cracks seems good. I feel like I take all the proper steps in preparing a clean air flow on my 2003 Mont! How often do you guys replace your filters, buy new ones? sam

Hi, I recently got back into trials and bought a 1997 registered Cota 311. After a quick clean of the carbs she fired up and is great fun. I noticed that the clutch was 'dragging' a little so I changed the gear box oil. On draining it, I saw that it was AFT fluid and I have filled it up with the same. All is working well, I just wondered if it is usual to use ATF instead of PJ1 or other 75W oil? EDIT: just read a few other posts - should have done that before posting! Cheers

Has anyone made a little bracket to extend the frame so it can act as a seat if so can you make me one-please i can send you cash/bank trasfer/cheque also while sitting down i dont seem to have much room i need to move the brake lever down how do i do this? it must be simple but i cant work out how! that bottom nut does not seem to do much

Hey all I am going to look at a used 2006 Repsol 4rt tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone knew what to look out for when buying the bike apart from the normal bits and pieces. What price should I be looking to pay for a 4rt in good condition? Also is there any components I should replace with after market ones? Thanks in advance Scott
