Your opinions guys on what gear to use to ride clubman level trials in wonderfully wet Yorkshire. its a new bike after ten years off. i finished riding a 4rt ten years ago so I'm not a total stranger to the machine. i remember all those years ago not getting to grips with what gear I should be in, first or second. last week I was on a training course and the instructor who rides a 4rt very very well said 2nd gear ALWAYS!! With plenty of clutch if necessary. second gear on the stock sprockets seems very fast in the sections. i will not change the sprockets under any circumstances, I'm a tight Yorkshire man!! just want your opinions guys o…

I'm sure this has been asked 100 times but I'm looking to find out the year of a montesa I'm looking to buy. Guy says it's 03 or 04 but it has a carbon tank and frame decals which I think are 1998/1999 , I have pictures of the bike and a frame number if anyone could help me out? Second question is once I've found out the year What's a fair price to pay for it? Thanks in advance.

There's 'Cota' printed several place on my '16 260. What does that it stand for, is it an acronym, or someone's name? Yes, I've tried searching, and google translate, but granted I may have overlooked something quite apparent.

Been fitting my swing arm protectors. I had to take the side stand off to fit my swing arm protectors. I thought this would have been a ten minute job. The drive side was just two bolts but the side stand side was a nightmare. Unless I was being totally stupid it appears you have to undo the side stand pivot bolt to create space to get a socket on the two m8 bolts that hold the stand to the swingarm. I don't have a spring puller so had to refit springs first then lever side stand back into position and get pivot bolt through. I spent a whole hour trying to line up this pivot bolt as I couldn't get it to thread into the threaded section of the side stand. It went straight …

Can anyone offer advice on a QUICK and EASY way of throttle cable replacement? Did one a while ago which I seem to remember needed me to remove throttle assembly and all sorts of other bits. Surely there's an easier way? Cheers

Hi guys I have a 2015 Repsol 4RT that has been amazing to ride and I regularly change the engine oil/ transmission oil. On the last change there was barely any transmission oil at all! I have done some searching on the forum and this has been mentioned before - with the crank seal apparently the culprit? Has anyone experienced the same and did this change solve the problem? I'm looking to have this changed, and not experienced opening up the engine so would doubt its a job for me - can anyone recommend a good shop local to Birmingham/West Midlands who'd have experience with Montesas? (BVM?) I was quoted by a Montesa dealer in Yorkshire but don't want a lon…

Greetings all, So a couple of months ago I bought my first trials bike (exciting! ), a Montesa 311, spent much of the first two months just getting a feel for it- much different to the 4T's I'm used to! Anyway, about a month ago I noticed the fan wasn't spinning- yup typical story, fan burnt out, you know the drill. Checked off all of these- Fan- burnt out, new one on the way Thermostat- all good Wiring- Fine, current comes through However- on advice from a friend, I tested the regulator first to make sure I wasn't going to bugger up a new fan as well- and discovered its overvolting. I tested a 12 volt computer fan (definitely worked before, on a 12v car battery),…

Has anyone changed sprocket size on their 4ride? Currently i have 10/41 (which i think is stock) Bike doesn't relly get used for "trials" riding, more for really technical trail and woods riding. I think i can sacrifice a touch of slow speed, to make the ride between sections a little more pleasant. I was thinking of changing to 11/41, but not really sure how big a real world effect 1 tooth at the front is. Also, i'd like a steel rear sprocket, but evertyhting i see for sale is aimed at 4RT and therefore weight is key and they are all aluminium.
