  3. after 8 months and perhaps 10hrs riding the new genuine honda (expensive) thermo switch has died and its overheating, i'm skint as a result of redundancy so was wondering if i could wire the fan to be on all the time? just for a few months till i can afford a new one?

  10. just for reference it turns out you put 360mils in each leg and use 10 wieght oil, 10 clicks out from full in on the rebound.
  11. looking at the gallery pics its a 1986,tlm200 it sounds a bit bearingy when you kick it over, that might be because it's aircooled?? can't be that hard to rebuild tho can it!! it looks tidy enough so i'll see what it sounds like when they get it running.
  12. actually the online i have is for a 2002 and i have the early paoli forks on my 1998 version, is the oil qty different? also is 5 wieght oil suitable??
  13. called into the local bike dealer today and hiding in a corner was a tlm looking a bit neglected, i dragged it out and it wouldnt start anyway in the course of the conversation it came out that a lad bought it(privately) thinking it was a moto-x and was dissapointed with the performance and asked them to "fix" it, they understandably laughed at him and sold him a cr250!! long story short is its up for sale for
  14. theres a mate of mine with a 125 gas gas and its a blast to ride, my father (63) loves it and grabs it whenever he is over here, if its in my shed at all i jump on it for messin rather than my 250 mont! i've got first refusal on it if he ever decides to sell!
  15. i'm doing the fork seals soon on my 98 315r and was wondering what the base settings were for the bump/rebound/preload? the online manual i have just covers fork seal replacement and oil qty can anyone tell me how many clicks from where and turns on the allen bolt? thks!! actually the online i have is for a 2002 and i have the early paoli forks on my 1998 version, is the oil qty different? also is 5 wieght oil suitable??

  22. had my first trial today on my 1998 315r its run lovely all year but bugger me didnt it overheat today spotted it very quick so dont think any damage done thing is is there a thermostat on the engine or is it just the thermostatic switch assy shown in the parts book? i'm thinking its this that has failed as the fan wasnt running. is there a fuse some where for the fan assy? fan still spins freely by hand so i presume its still ok. thanks vince
  23. i was in your shoes a year ago! i bought a 315r as it seemed the best built at the time, its got a nice soft power delivery, is very reliable and with new plastics still looks the part!! go ahead and get a 315r it wont dissapoint, oh and that age you would get your money back if you sell it!
  24. i remember that issue!!! i reckon if i had a root around at my parents i could still have it.I had an old RD200 aircooled, coffin tank one. man that thing would scream.........

    2004 315

every one percieves them as being heavy because of the wide frame spars. they might "feel" heavy due to different geometry. mine is a little cracker and its 12 yrs old and can still give most of the more modern bikes a run for theisr money. quality is very good compared to the modern bikes (rusty 2009 gas gas anyone?) as i said in another thread i wouldnt part with mine for love nor money!! buy it and you wont regret it!!
