  2. A little more preload and slightly quicker damping will helpslightly, but it will only want a very small change. It is probably as much your technique if you've not been doing them for long, you just have to bounce the bike as much as possible then chuck your weight forwards, then bend the legs with the brakes on. I find that somehow popping the back wheel off the first bounce with the legs works much better than building up to it. Bob
  3. I agree, but that wouldn't stop me making the bike super power crazy in the summer just for the added enjoyment. Well I was only wondering, i just had to remove it last night to get the flywheel off, I wasn't saying I was going to neccecarily keep it off, i just thought I would ask, because my old bike was a 200 and was better with the flywheel weight off.
  4. As for the flywheel weight, that's standard for UK bikes, does anybody actually use it? I've just got a 250 06 and i'm unsure whether to put the flywheel weight back on or not. Bob
  5. I would reckon somewhere in the region of 50-60 quid for the Beta, and probably 60-80 quid for the Sherco from my somewhat limited search online. R2w will know exactly what the cost of the rev3 plastics are because he has just bought some for his 05. Haven Trialsport in Hull is my bet at the cheapest place to buy them. (I think they import their own stock) Bob
  6. I know the feeling Andy! The problem arises when My brother, who just expects the computer to be able to do everything for him the instant he tells it to do something starts complaining that the computers crap because it's taken like a whole minute to turn on, and I get a load of abuse for not looking after the computer which he trashes by downloading viruses off the dodgy 'gaming' sites he goes on. He also complains A LOT that the internet is slower than normal, or that the Broadband is slower than the ISDN connection we used to have. When I go to Uni this machine has only got a week or so before something will fail! The most annoying part is that my dad seems to have employed some people to work in his office who aren't exactly experts on the computer, and they ring me up to get me to make letterheads and stuff for them, I can't understand why they don't just get them done professionally. It annoys me even more when I do them a basic one in Publisher then email it through to them and theydon't understand how publisher works so I have to make another one in Word. And why does my dad insist on keeping the accounts for his business on floppy disks, and in file formats only compatible with a knackered old Viglen running Windows 95, a 4 gig hard diks, 32mb RAM and a corrupt registry!!!!!!!!!!! I've got to be sorting out computer problems this weekend mostly. Bob
  7. I know that a common problem with slow PCs is a damaged registry, do you think that my computer would be safe using this software available from www.download.com. I was going to try it since if it trashes everything I could allways do a system restore and if all else fails reinstall. clicky here, link to a link, not the link isself, no worries! I just want your opinions, since I trust you guys more than a website which has been reccomended to me by a dadgy mate. Cheers, could be a solution for Dougie Pumpkin aswell. Bob

    03 270 Kickstart Spring

Don't forget to drain the gearbox oil aswell. Whilst you have that rubber block out which goes under the gearbox, it might be a good idea to cut out the section which blocks off the bottom bolt which holds the casing on. This way the bolt can be easily checked. Bob

    Rev 3 Gearing

Yes, they're designed to be light, even gas gas (who are sponsored by iris) don't reccomend them for long trials. Bob

    Factory Parts

I noticed that on the scarborough DMC forums that Michael Browns factory prepped 250 is for sale, that looks like a really trick bike if you're into that kind of thing. Bob
  11. Where is the trial? What kind of event is it, is it in an arena, or outdoors with indoor style sections? I would like to go, Bob

    Rev 3 Clutch Problems

Who told you that the plates need replacing? This is a common problem on all bikes, and if the clutch operates fine when warm then it ought to be fine. There have been threads about this earlier, apparently putting the bike in a highish gear and rocking it backwards and forwards with the clutch in should unstick it before you start the bike. I have plenty of room where I live and I just start the bike, let it warm up and then ride the bike across the yard and change up the gears relativel quickly with the clutch held in, normaly at about fourth it unsticks, and is fine for the rest of the ride. Engine Covers

Yeah, I'm selling my bike, I specifically put in the ad on the front page that it hadn't been ridden by barry as a major selling point . Sorry Barry, brilliant crashes though! Bob

    Engine Covers

you're also keeping it nice so it will gather more money when you sell it.

    Engine Covers

I think there would definitely be a market for aluminium covers, the plastic ones are rubbish, an at 25 quid each they aren't much more expensive. Bob
  16. Ok, thanks, I'll have to check on the time then, I've probably ridden there before so once i see a flag i should be able to find my way. Having said that I've been lost on the way to trials plenty of times. Bob
  17. Hi, There is an Eboracum trial this Saturday - 23rd September - it is in Rosedale at Hobb House. Could anybody tell me how to get to 'Hobb House'? I guess that it will be the usual 11am start? Cheers, Bob
  18. All of the seats there are pretty good to be honest. I've sat right at the end near the stage twice quite high up and those seats seemed good, although abit far away from the sections at the other end on the arena, however we were right next to the races this year which was super cool since it all went down to a race. I've also sat at the other end opposite the stage before, this was really good too since all of the sections were infront of you so you didn't have to be looking round people all the time. I would say that about half way down the arena on either side, and the row directly above the walkway would be pretty good, you're about in the middle so you're close to most sections, and if you are near to the walkway you will be close by if they ride round there again. 2007 Beta

Erm 2/4.... I think that the air inlets in the headstock area are just there for aesthetics, they don't actually do anything except allow quick acess to the CDI. I may be wrong and look an idiot, but all the betas have had air vents there. Bob

    2007 Beta

Looks really nice. I like the new plastics, FAT BARS are a good extra too. It says that they have lowered the back end of the frame, perhaps this means that they will have more room in there to put the carb in at a more sensible angle, it does look less steep to me. I hope they are still doing the 200 because I'd really like one of those in a couple of years time when i can afford one. Bob
  21. Yeah, I imagine Barry would need to take it for crash test to make sure it could handle anything it was thrown at. Bob
  22. I think that sounds reasonable enough to me, perhaps the guy wasn't sure how to explain what he meant. To me that phrase means that he is wanting to sell the bike soon, and that is his main concern; rather than selling to get as much money for the bike as possible. I expect he was saying this to explain a low price, since quite often a low price suggests that there is something wrong with a bike even if the bike is fine and just priced cheaply becuse someone is wanting rid of it and an easy sale. I'll admit that it isn't right to put that in the title though. Bob
  23. If it isn't the problem then JLI will take them back and refund you the full cost. They realy are very good about stuff like that. Check first though to be sure. Bob
  24. Good to see you're still on here now and again Luke, be careful about sunburn. Bob

    Mini Moto

hi, What my mate has to do with his occasionally is take the spark plug out then give that a clean with brake cleaner or something, then put afew ml of petrol into the engine through the spark plug hole, it will normaly start then run for afew seconds then die again, do that afew times until it gets going properly. Also try the choke both at the top and bottom and make sure your fuel in properly on, if it is a cheapo chinese one they are often marked wrongly or terribly jetted. Good luck, keep off the public roads. Bob
