Hi all,
I'm selling my 1999 Mont, and just wondered if the local clubs around the N.E. Scotland area have facilities/bulletin boards where I can advertise it.
Failing that, any ideas when the next trial local to Aberdeen is being held.....I might drag it along with a for sale sign.

Gotta agree there........I enjoyed the "10 questions" thing immensely......what a laugh! Well done Andy, Jake and the other contributors. TC certainly wiped it's bum with everyone else this job.

I can't believe Ishy came up with Wireless. "Eeee Wireless, lad? Does't mean I can listen to t'Archers?"
Aye, and it worked! A few DNS problems once or twice (or maybe it was bird s**t on the satellite dish) but otherwise brill!
PC's were a doddle to configure, but Jake's Apple MAC took me a wee while.....and as other MAC's arrived in the hands of other journo's and they sat scratchin' their heads day after day at "cannot connect messages", me and your man kept our heads down and hogged all the bandwidth.......we were determined to get our news and photos out first.
Didn't tell Ishy 'bout that one.......

Quoting Jake Miller "Dougie was also looking to show his wallet daylight, but with no great savings to be had, he will wait until he returns to the UK to buy a new Apple Mac computer"
Jake's a bloomin' Apple MAC nut.....and I couldn't begin to list the number of trials folks he's sold the Apple MAC brand. All the Lampkin's, Eric Kitchen for instance........
Jake, yer a bleedin' pest!....................I wish I'd never configured yer MAC TCP/IP settings for ya at that US World Round.......might be a different story now!
Win2K foreve.......dzzzttt, pop, bang.......ABORT, RETRY, FAIL?

Hi,
I had been using PSP since version 3......that's quite a few years! I recently switched to Photoshop to see what all the fuss was about. I made sure I 'had' to use it by removing PSP off my system.
Some 4 or 5 weeks later now, I can safely say I won't be going back.
It is expensive, but there are a few things that Photoshop has over PSP that made it worthwhile for me.
1. Access to hundreds of downloadable ACTIONS to automate many, many processes and effects. For instance I just love the ISO NOISE removal action.
2. Making and manipulating SELECTIONS is easier and much better.
3. The EXTRACT feature is great, makes life so much easier.
4. I find working with LAYERS more intuitive in Photoshop. PSP changed something at around version 6 or 7 that started pushing me away from it.
.........and probably much more.

Ouch!.......looks like it's definitely a prototype then!

Hi all,
Would love to have animated this but no time. I centred both bikes around the swing-arm shaft.
PS. I had to mirror the 2T.
-
Hi,
It's much what I thought it would be........but overall pleasantly suprised as well.
Not sure about the look of the silencer though, it definitely flows with the bike (unlike the REV3 say), but it does seem to stand out
Kudos to Montesa.
PS. Can you imagine a 2T motor in that frame.......WOW!

Hi,
There are a few ways, but this works:-
Copy your piccy.
One one copy use EXTRACT to mark the part you want to keep (be as detailed as you like), the wizard tells you what to do etc.
Go to the other copy and convert the whole image to b&w.
Paste the extracted images onto the b&w piccy.

I also think that a limit should be set on the total amount of "continue under no-award" riders. If that limit is met then those after....tough!

Ishy might not get the chance to win if he doesn't shake up his old UK road driving skills.......
After Fersit today we were driving back to Fort William and the wee bee just about pulled out in front of us at the roadside fuel stop. Beware white vans Ishy.....

Hi,
The lower the F number the faster the lens is.....thus the better at low light shots without flash. Some lens can only go to F3.5, some can go to F1.8. So, getting the same light through the lens, a camera capable of F1.8 could use a much higher shutter speed. You have to watch also, because if you zoom in on your subject matter the lens can slow down....I.e the lens might be capable of F2.8 at full zoom out, but F4.5 when zoomed right in. As ever, always try to get as close as possible to your subject irrerspective of whether you can zoom in far enough. Being close also means your flash doesn't have to work as hard.
Also, I should have mentioned that if you set the film speed ISO to a higher number then you'll be able to use higher shutter speeds. The pictures will get grainier though.
Generally when you set flash on the camera will set the shutter speed to a fixed speed, that way you are stopping the camera from automatically selecting a ridiculously slow speed and spoiling your pics. Depends on your camera though, you might have to select a manual mode and set the shutter speed yourself, say 1/60th for those family shots and then let the camera add light using the flash.
I used to have a digital SLR, but sold it and now just wander about with a much cheaper, smaller digicam.....but one of my pre-requisites when buying was getting a camera that had a reasonably fast lens....The Canon G3 has a F2.0 lens.
I need it for taking pics of our band without flash. The piccy I posted here was taken using a Canon IxusV, a tiny little point and shoot job!

Hi,
Having a camera that's capable of a "faster shutter speed" is not the main issue. Your pic was taken with no flash, thus , you were at the merci of what the lens on the camera was capable of given the ambient light around at the time.
Your camera has a relatively "slow" lens which means that it needs to have a slow shutter speed to get a given amount of light through the lens.
Yes it's capable of 1/1000 or more, but only if the light coming through the lens is great enough.
There are two alternatives - one is to always have flash turned on, this increases the ambient lighting which enables the camera to use a faster shutter speed and thus you get a less blurred shot.
The second alternative is to use a camera, without flash, that has a much "faster" lens thus is able to use a faster shutter speed for the given ambient lighting.
Note: For trials photography you would be amazed at what shots you can get with a cheap and dirty digital camera if only you learn to pan the camera with the action. Look at the following pic, very slow shutter action and the background is seriously blurred but because the camera was panned with the movement of the bike you get away with it.

Hi all,
Relatively clear skies and a hot'ish (for Scotland) 17deg. Sunday was definitely going to be a great weather day for some trials practise.
My mates and I hit the hill and immediately got stuck into our warm-up section. 30minutes in and my Mont's mudguard was flapping like a good 'un, the single bolt at the front of the seat had gone! So it was arrrgghh!!!, as I noticed my nice new tools bag had all the right tools, even brake fluid and a puncture repair kit for goodness sake.....but any spare nuts and bolts - NOT A ONE!
After walking around eyes glued to the ground for 15 minutes - Nothing! So, stuck the keys to the van down my boot and rode the 10 minutes to the van toolbox. Searched, raked and raked again and eventually found a bolt. Brilliant!!!
Rode back up ready to start again, but there's my two mates crowded round the back of his Sherco......the chain tensioner in a million bits - "I hit a rock and it exploded", the small bolts that hold the rubber on had sheared......5 minutes fumbling and it was of down to the van again for more bolts. Could only find one bolt and a nail. Yup, the chain tensioner ended up being secured by a nail through the rubber and bent over at end!
Later in the day we had decided the ground was dry enough that the 5ft rock face could be attacked. 3 or 4 times up and my mates Sherco (same one) made an awful crunch noise from the back end. "It's okay I said, I think the chain just jumped off then on again".....so he went round and had another go. After falling backwards off the step it was apparent he had ZERO back brake.
A quick inspection and we realized that one of the bolts holding the disk on had gone. Looke dlike it had slackened off enough to touch the caliper where it had cut a very neat 5mm deep 'groove' in the caliper and then fallen out. However, it didn't just drop to the ground, oh no, it trapped itself in the disk and proceeded to jam things up enough that the other three bolts sheared completely. The crunch I had heard was the bolts shearing!
On the way home the front windscreen on the van cracked.
Note to self - tighten ALL bolts in future.
