  1. After the talk on here.............I went yesterday and bought a small clear one.............so to start off from day 1, on a new bike (only picked bike up Saturday). Like Charlie says............it is possible..............but it is a tight squeeze on a 315R...........but can be done...........with a bit of forward planning........ The tubes don't get pinched. On another note...............these modern Trials bikes are tight to work on.................removing the lighting kit and loom from the new 315R was a real performance................. John
  2. Now Genuine Yamaha ones are discontinued. However John Cane is having made up in plastic..........he tells me........ Should be available by summer 2004...........contact no. as previous post. John
  3. Thanks for the replies guys............... Well I had a look at a couple of 2001 models and decided to push the boat out and go for a new 2004 White model from BVM Stroud. It's one of the last available and everybody says that's it..........next will be 4 stroke. Are the white fenders stronger than the red ones..............they're certainly cheaper @
  4. I've been browsing here for about 6 months on TA and TC. I read the topics with interest.........learning about the pros and cons of the new Modern Mono's. I last competed and rode a trials bike about 15 years ago in late 80's when I had a TY250R Mono Yam,having competed as a schoolboy in 70's and early 80's on a TY175 Twinshock............ Having been Greenlaning for last 10 or so years on Honda XR's...........I've become disillusioned and fancy a return to UK Trials......... So I've been deliberating about a modern Mono and settled on a post 2000 Montesa Cota 315............. for the following reasons :- a) Honda involvement in the bike Proven Reliability and build quality c) They look gorgeous in red d) Residuals etc I know that there are tricker, lighter bikes but I'm only ever going to be a Clubman rider...........so it's more than good enough for me...... I've got chance of a 2001 one ..........that's never been trialled and only used as a playbike............so should be in good nick as long as mechanicals haven't suffered by a lax owner OR a 2002 bike that is OK........but has been trialled. Is there much difference between a 2002 and 2001. Other Montesa questions I have are :- 1. Is the airbox fairly watertight..........other bikes seem to suffer 2. Does the 2001 bike have revised steering geometry to go with Showa forks and better carb? 3. Any other mods I should look for ? 4. What protection should I get to Trial on for forks/frame etc. 5. Are the engines under normal use pretty bullet proof or do they need rings/pistons and rods every season............plus mains etc from time to time? In general is there anything else I need to know about the bike........... I have studied all the other bikes - Sherco/GasGas/Beta/Scorpa and mainly discounted them for me on general advice from other riders/dealers ..... Thanks for your help, John
  5. Are Sidi Trials boots any good..............?? As far as I can tell the Trial and Courier versions are exactly the same boots........except for the colour......... Best price around........in UK
  6. It was a Belgian guy............his name was on the attached photo board.........sorry can't remember his name. He bought it from Lejeune and is 'HIS' works bike from 1983. Somebody who was at show might remember the details. Don't think it was a restoration though............the bike looks as though it had been used...........but obviously by a very capable rider like Lejeune......therefore minimal 'wear & tear'.
  7. Had a rare opportunity last weekend at the Coventry Classic Dirt Show to look at Eddy LeJeune's Works Honda 360 that he won his World Championship on in the 80's. It was a fantastic opportunity to get close and have a good look at this bike, which is a work of art............with plenty of magnesium/titanium parts and factory sandcast engine cases. Plenty of RSC/HRC factory touches and one of many superb bikes at this great show. Here's some pics for those unlucky not to go to the show.
  8. What about a warranty claim for new tank if it's an 04 bike...........maybe a weak tank
  9. Best prezzies I got were the 'On any Sunday' trilogy on DVD with Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen with all those classic Dirt Bikes. Together with the (3) stacking Teng Tools Tool Cabinets to tidy up all the tools in my garage. John
  10. It seems a sad day for all concerned if this is the 'general policy'. It also seems if a child falls off 'said trials bike' then only their parents can rush to help, as a steward/observer/another unrelated adult could be held liable for 'god know's what', although it's in full view of others and they were genuinely trying to help out and prevent injury. What a sad world of the over protective PC 'nanny state'.
  11. Ripon Engineering @ Ripon for all types of nuts/bolts and automotive tools
  12. TY175 and TY125 share the same engine/gearbox and from what I understand you can slide a 175 Barrel/head onto a 125,whilst fitting a larger 175 piston/small end also........so I figure conrod is the same........unless somebody knows different.
  13. An opening...............for a UK entrepreneur !!!!!!!!!!!! TBM - Trail Bike Mag has features on Trials Bikes every other month..........it's a start at least
  14. Here's a pic of my TLR200 Reflex playbike for starters..............in road trim. Maybe it'll be eligible for the trail bike class in the SM series.......

    Majesty

Nice bike. I'm building a 320 Majesty at the moment to a similar colour scheme, just hope it looks as good. Did you by it from someone near Stoke on Trent? I'm sure I saw it at a trial near Cheadle last year, looks like the same bike. Bought it from Derbyshire - so quite possibly could have been @ Cheadle, Woody

    Majesty

Here's a pic of my 1982 Majesty as i bought it.........it's in pretty original trim apart from new Gold rims and a SM Chrome front pipe and a WES Tailpipe. It has the later Godden Chrome frame and main differences are geometry and ground clearance when i put it next to my TY175. It came with Gas Girlings (now replaced with Falcon Gas Shocks and correct springs). The engine I believe is a 175 from what I was told and not a 200,but I've not had the head off.It is a Majesty engine as the engine cases are correct, they were modified when autolube removed and a different oil pump cover is fitted, plus generator cover is cut and modified. You can do the 200cc conversion with a Yamaha Jet Ski/Watercraft piston, I believe.......somebody will know. Craig Mawlam has a lot of parts and knows the history.
