Not a Trials bike I know............ But I took delivery of one of these, last Saturday.............brand spanking new and had Ohlins shocks fitted front and rear (it doesn't have telescopic forks) when the bike was PDi'd at the BMW dealer. Ohlins shocks are the business and transform the handling of any bike, if set up correctly and are simply awesome. Stock shocks are ok, but are built to a price and lack sophistication The price of the shocks for this bike was
  4. Domino Martin................you're right, they do However does it work to cut the cable (cue........ many strands of little wires) and screw in the solderless nipple. What about .......... a) the nipple working loose and falling out........resulting in a DNF the cable fraying and becoming useless These are my fears against cutting the cable and using that approach However could you use that nipple and use solder .................just to make doubly sure
  5. Thanks Chris, I will do that anyway......................just trying to narrow it down a bit first
  6. I'm in the process of swapping from an Amal throttle to a Domino throttle on my Majesty 175. However the original cable already fitted, is slightly too long and I've run out adjustment at the carb end. Anybody know a correct length cable to mate a TY175 Carb to a Domino throttle (I don't want to mess about with soldering nipples) I want to buy one of the correct length - any suggestions - do Domino make one?? Venhill?? Your ideas please
  7. Tell us all about your steeds
  8. Bad product design, testing and quality control like this begars belief.......... A new bike leaving the factory with 'dents'..........no excuses
  9. Don't know prices Check with B&C Express @ Lincoln or Talon direct (numbers in T&MX or do a web search) for prices / sizes .................HondaRS recommends a 9/46 in your thread Forget the gold chain.............just get a normal colour as it's going to be covered in oil and crap. IMHO ........a gold anodised rear sprocket would look ok on a red bike or just plain Jane alloy Red or blue................ugggh!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Talon or Renthal.............should be able to sort you out It'll look like a tart's handbag
  11. Here's my Majesty...............
  12. It'll turn out to be an 'Orange' or a 'Lemon'

The PENTAX refers to the advertising or sponsorship (as in cameras) I believe, not the model - Mattylad

  16. Sorry guys to start the heated debate. I really liked my TY175 and TY250R and the fact that they were good clubman's bikes............which were built like Swiss watches in terms of reliability. However my 2004 Montesa 315R was ok but was a 'pain in the a**e' in terms of carburation.........never caburated the same way twice. The TYZ maybe ugly but as they say.....'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' and I reckon it looks ok and is well put together and with.... by all accounts........ a superb motor. It may not steer like a Gasser........but for a Clubman/Inter does it really matter? I prefer a bike that's well engineered and reliable to fragile and needs a spanner to it midweek.........so you can ride it at a weekend. Does Birkett still make the NJB TYZ variants?

What are the main differences between the 2 bikes ?? In terms of - Handling Finding grip Riding position Likes/Dislikes Is the Yamaha better built than the Scorpa Are the motors exactly the same in terms of power/porting Was the TYZ a dog or is still a good bike today I've never ridden either, just like the look of the TYZ TYZ Frame looks as if it shares some similarities with the later Cota 315R ......Does it?? Can you still find TYZ's in good nick or are they flogged to death like most TY250 mono's Were they built between 92-96 or did they go later to 98 Just wondering.........????
  18. Has anybody told drivers of Merc Sprinters..................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Too true in the BMW stakes .............Gizza5
  20. With Domino slow action throttles............is it the black or white throttle tubes??? White Bros gave me a black tubed one, is this correct??
  21. Anybdy got a an old pair of Honda TLR200 Reflex or 200R Black Steel Handlebars lying about in the garage or workshop. Must be straight and undamaged, paint condition/slight rust etc not important. Send my a PM and we'll sort out a price........ TIA

I faxed John Shirt last year, with Frame no. details of my Godden framed Majesty. He replied back, same day with confirmation of date of production and how/what/why the frame no. meant ( to the uninformed.....me). Very comprehensive.........superb service .......!!
  23. johnnyboxer replied to 125gold's topic in Yamaha
Just a tip, if the bike is an early Majesty (with a modified yamaha frame) the the engine numbers should match, as on standard TY's and all early Yamaha's. The later Godden framed Majesty had a standard Yamaha engine number but obviously JShirt gave them his own frame no's. Might have had an engine swap, maybe.
  24. Not sure about factory options on dirt bikes, however on BMW Roadbikes you can order factory options as follows - Different Screens Pannier mounts ABS Brakes Paint schemes Tyre choices Electronically adjustable suspension at the press of a button Radio/CD players Different gearbox ratio's Additional driving lights. On bikes - BMW are at the fore-front of factory options in biking and virtually every new bike is'built to order' on a 3 month factory waiting time. Don't expect to go into the dealer today and get a new bike for this Sat...most are pre-sold. The benefits are happy owners getting what they want, the factory knows in advance what to produce, so they don't end up with a surplus of unsold stock to unload onto the market (checkout Triumph,Yam and Honda roadbikes), which keeps residual values higher than other marques. After taking delivery of their new steed, most owners then fit aftermarket parts from numerous sources, just like Trials riders.............
