    Ty 175

TY175's Try John Cane @ Trail & Trials for TY spares or Caig Mawlam @ Majesty Moto if you want to trick it up with some Majesty bits. Sammy Miller/Hirsts/Gordon Farley do most things. All advertise in T&MX. However most Yamaha dealers still stock engine & cycle parts and will order direct from Yamaha. Somebody has started making new rear mudguards and he sells on ebay for
  2. What's the difference between the BR6ES and BPR6ES. Looked in the NGK book and it states the P is for a protruding electrode. Does it make that much difference? Would a BR6EIX Iridium plug or a BPR6EIX be better, with the protruding electrode. Is an Iridium plug that much better? Can anybody post a pic of a NGK plug with and without a 'protruding' electrode
  3. How about a small square or oblong nylon resin block in the offending area. Stronger than rubber, but with a bit of 'give'............
  4. Did you have to seal yours externally then?
  5. Can't you just strip the paint off and leave it unpainted. My guess is that they're not supposed to be painted at all. Mine is unpainted and when I put a sticker on, it fell off after 2 days, just sat in garage................nothing will stick to the plastic. I reckon the tanks are porous to petrol vapour and won't stand painting. Same technology as the first plastic tanks that were used on dirt bikes in the 70/80's............I guess.
  6. Honda RTL? Honda TLR? CCM 4T? Honda TL125? Honda TL250? Honda TL200E Seeley? and any Pre 65 machines
  7. Want to know any more about the 'as new' 125 Sherpa.......BJ or not?
  8. Big John I know of a bike shop with a Red Sherpa 125 which has never been used (guess it must be 1979 or before) Saw it again last week on display...........but reckon it might be for sale. Same as in pic complete with all lights and 'showroom condition'. Send me a PM, if you want more details
  9. If you're anywhere near Scarborough, it's well worth joining the SDMC (http://www.scarboroughdmc.co.uk). Membership gets you unlimited (except when there's a trial or motocross on) access to the club-owned Low North Camp - a massive area of hills, woods, rocks and rivers - trials heaven! The Eboracum club based in York also put on excellent events, mostly in the Rosedale area but I don't think that they have their own practise area. I believe that there's also a trials practise area somewhere near Darlington, but I've never been and I'm not sure where it is - maybe some other North Yorkies/Clevelanders can help out here? It's always worth befriending a local farmer, especially if they've got lots of woodland and/or streams! Thanks Neon........... I use the Croft practice area near Darlington, which is linked to White Bros. However I'm tempted by Scarborough..........but it's over 45 miles each way to get there. Is it really good @ Low North Park..............worth making a day of it What are Scarboro's trials like ..............hard, inter or able to cater for a novice/beginner like me (is the Clubman route relatively ok) Fancy a Scarboro Trial..........but don't want to get over-faced
  10. Where do you guys Practice in North Yorkshire? Any new venues or are they private ? Have been to Croft Woods a few times.........but that's all. Anywhere you can suggest? Anywhere linked to a club? Send me a PM if you don't want to divulge in an open forum

    Tank Help!

Just leave your old tank with the tap in it and ring Sandifords and buy a new tap and bolts for your new tank................ It's probably less than
  12. Are you serious? You don't know the difference between a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke.............get a textbook.............. Duct tape won't fix everything
  13. I had a Honda TL150 SM Hi Boy (good bike, but heavy and awkward ccompared to the TY175)..........before selling it to buy my TY175 in 1979. I reckon you're wrong Brian with a TL125 as the most popular Trials bike of all time (they were a rarity back in the 70's at a Trial)............ I bet Mitsui Yamaha sold 10-15 TY175's to every TL125, that Honda UK sold.......back in the 70's. TY175's were everywhere back then ............... and even now there's a TY175 listed for sale on a daily basis on Ebay UK, not to mention the ones on the USA Ebay site
  14. Got to be a Yamaha of one sort or another........ BUT.........is it the TY175..........TY80....... OR TY250 Mono....... Which sold the most...................my guess it's a TY175 Plus it was the base for specials like the Majesty and Whitehawk Everybody seems to have had one and you still see plenty still going strong after 25 years from new. Why were Yamaha so strong???????? Price? Build Quality? Reliability? Rideability? Sure they weren't the most competitive or radical............but this was part of their success...............certainly the best trial bike for the masses...... closely followed by the TY250 Mono What's your view..........did you have a TY175 ??
  15. Try an Internet search on www.oldbikemart.co.uk and search out a chap in the trade classifieds............called Bantam John He's a trader who has any amount of bits for Bantams........new and used. He'll be at Stafford Classic show on 16/17th October @ Stafford Show Ground.
  16. Final one for now............ These pics are taken from my TY175, which is completely stock standard entirely and is good as the day when it was new.............having never been used off-road, so you can see what a standard TY should look like. Unfortunately most have been used and abused by now. I also have brochure pics, if you need these to help and also specs from Haynes and Genuine Yamaha Owner's Manual should you need this.
  17. How about these pics to help.............
  18. Have you got an actual picture of your TY Mono..........is it an S or R model?
  19. Montesa Large Tank I bought from ebay, from a Sandiford's contact who supplies them to the SSDT Montesa team riders. It cost me about
  20. Flip side.....................
  21. Here's a pic of my 2004 Montesa (with 2003 plastics..........looks better in red). Extras include :- Large Tank (Sandifords) Hebo Pegs Jitsie Fork Guards 2003 Plastics
  22. The other side.............I think they look the business and have been on since new. They are a snug fit.............to say the least and you need to take the wheel out to fit and gently tap them up from the bottom of forks, with a rubber mallet.........to avoid damaging them
