Need to get my a*** in gear and get road registered and a licence.
Did the dead easy one last night at 4pm, just for fun, very nice evening for it
-
I can photocopy my '05 manual for you and post it out if you want it (same information in it)

just take extra care in the wet, as it'll aquaplane at speed and you'll probably feel it understeering at lower speed tight corners.

As bob says, there's a diagram on the JLI website

Just got back, it was awesome.
Feel a bit guily about Martin Lampkin snagging his handlebars on my rucksack and taking a dive down a ditch as a result
-
I've got one for a 2005 270 that I could photocopy and send you if you want mate? (I've got a 2002 model but it's the same stuff anyway)

p.s. pressure washers can cause them to fail apparently, forces water in.
I use a pressure washer
-
Think it's an '05 one as he said that it was a known problem and they'd sorted it out with this one, so I suppose this one won't do it again (fingers crossed)

Just play about with it mate, get the front how you want it first and then start on the back

Just thought I'd update this thread, turned out to be the CDi unit that had gone tits up just as Manz thought.
Took it up to Lampkins and dropped it off yesterday afternoon, they had it ready for me by lunchtime today, top marks for service from John and Gary!

mine is a bit blue there too mate, should be normal i would have thought?

Cheers chaps, I'll take the flywheel off this weekend, what does the woodruff key look like?

Yeah next door neighbour is a mechanic, been riding/fixing them for literally 30 odd years, but he's mainly into pre-65 stuff.
It's got Optimax in with the oil at 70:1
-
Next door neighbour's cleaned out the carb, I changed the plug and the air filter. the fan came on while we were looking at it, we've taken the flywheel cover and removed the moisture from the cover, and also sprayed wd40 on the coil.
My dad reckons the tapping noise is piston slap, but I don't know!?!?

Hi All,
Having problems with my 02 Beta at the mo, the bottom end of the rev range is sweet as a nut, top end, there's some missing, pinking under throttle and a sharp tapping/knocking sound when coming back off it.
Think I'm gonna have to take it in to be professionally looked at.
Anyone know what these symptoms are leading towards and how much people like Lampkins charge for repairs and or servicing?
Many Thanks
Andy

Hi All, thanks for the replies, I would love to have a look at the manual please kinell. Bought the bike off ebay so no manuals!
Will definitely be up for the trial on the 2nd if it's on, and if my bike isn't in bits from the Hillsborough trial on the 1st

Hi All,
New to this game again after a long lay off, bought an 2002 270 Rev3, but am at a bit of a loss as it's obviously loads different than my Majesty and Fantic 240 were 11 years ago.
My questions are: (sorry there's loads)
1) Do I need to fill the radiator up? Where do I fill it, how often and how much?
2) How often do I need to check the engine/clutch oil? where do I check them? What should I use and how much?
3) How often should I change the sprocket and chain, and fork seals, as I see this quite often on nearly new bikes!! but I don't know where to look for wear?
4) What petrol/oil mix should I be using? I've been told 35:1 by some places and up to 70:1 by others (inc Lampkins) so a bit confused!!
Sorry!
Just aint got a clue, or a manual!
pics would be great if someone has the time.
Many Thanks
Andy

Job snorted, turned out to be a faulty plug on mine, purrin like a pussycat again now
-
Fantastic, cheers fella, I'll have a look at that, next door neighbour used to fix my old Fantic 240 & Majesty so I imagine he'll have a puller.
-
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack, added onto this one as it was the same issue?
My problem is I aint got a clue about ignitions, flywheel keys, what they look like or even where they are??!?!?
Think I'm gonna have to take it to ERJ's in Stockport
