  1. Thats why I said in a post above that it could work on a sliding scale on the basis of how much revenue your club raises. More revenue, more rebate.But theres probally many ways on how it could work. Im very much a positive thinker, If the idea is right then I find a way to make it work. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, but the admin costs of this would be considerable and it would come back to us to pay for it. I also know one club that puts on excellent trials with large entries who have just three workers. We are lucky, we have perhaps 20 regular helpers. How could this be made fair? How about the Clerks of the Courses having to travel to Rugby from all over the country to be licenced. Who should pay for their expenses/time? I agree with what you say but would hate it to become another beurocratic problem for us to pay-for/administer.
  2. I must agree that the ACU shouldn't charge hard working volunteers for putting on events which benefits the ACU. Unfortunately, putting this in place would be costly and time consuming. Can you imagine how many people would consider themselves workers when the Registration fee was due? Many people help out at some point during the year.... Observing at a National, setting out a club trial, going to the ACU licencing seminar, collecting the markers in at the end of a trial. etc etc. If every single person then got free registration, income to the ACU would drop sharply. Lets not kid ourselves about this..... it would be us that makes up the shortfall. Plus the added cost of administration. I realise that "without us hard working volunteers, there would be no trials" but we must remember that no one forces us to do it and unless we go on strike, the ACU has no motivation to treat us any differently. And that will never happen... or will it? I personally think that the ACU's policy/guidance on Risk Assessment is a much, much bigger worry to anyone who organises trials at the moment but that's another story.
  3. Our club does not have honorarium's, the club does pay for the ACU REGISTRATION for the regular workers. And that's about 15 people-
  4. The Vale of Evesham Trial was held at Grove Quarry high on the Cotswold Hills. A round of the Midland Centre Championship, Steve Saunders made a late entry appearance to brave the cold conditions- and it was cold! Rumour has it that Steve cleaned the trial with regular championship contender Mark Hicken second on three marks lost. On the Over40/Clubman route, 2005 Champion Clive Charleton give the rest of the field a five mark head start, by stalling his 4RT on the very first easy section. Although Clive was confident at the end that he'd limited the damage to his 2006 championshp hopes by adding just 4 more marks to his early disaster. Evesham's Mick Chapman was pleased to finish on five marks lost. Full results to follow when they come in. A cold day at Grove Quarry.

  7. 2005 SY250 Synthetic oil I mix mine at: 62.5 to 1 Same as: 1.6% Which is: 16ml of oil per Litre of fuel. or: 80ml of oil per 5 litre can of fuel. or: 1 Litre of oil per 62.5 litres of fuel. or, to mix imperial with metric measurements: 72ml or oil per 1 gallon of fuel. I agree that it's horses for courses but my bike would be as oily as hell on 40:1 on synthetic oil.
  8. boo baa boo baa. I rely heavily on spell checking to correct my poor typing ability. Trials Central doesn't have spell check, so my bad typing sometimes goes uncorrected. Sorry about that. I have no real excuse.
  9. I haven't seen the regs for the trial on the 29th yet are they in TMX? I take it the Colmore is only 1 route? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you go to the Stratford-Upon-Avon web site you can down load the regs from there. stratford-upon-avonmcc.org.uk./ Yes the Colmore is one route.
  10. Midlands Centre Group Trials are designed to be a team competition between clubs in the centre. The top five riders from each club (if there are five) score points towards the result on the day. A couple of years ago entry numbers were dropping. This was due to the expert riders finding it too easy and the rest finding it too hard, so the series was changed to include two routes. The championship scoring now takes the best three riders from each club on the A route and the best two from each club on the B route. The scores are added together and the club who scores the most points wins the event. This is not as complicated in reality as I have made it sound. Having two routes has rejuvinated Group trials in the Midlands. It is a rare occasion when you ride with other members from your club and really help each other to loose less marks.   11. Yep, sure was muddy. But what a good trial, never more than three or four riders in the queue, two routes, 20 sections all observed. I only fell off once and that was dropping down to section 14. My word that was a drop! Really enjoyed the trial, finished on just over 30 on the B route but I feel sure it will be won on about a dozen. Can't say about the A route, looked a bit hairy to me. Strange feeling we were in the inter centre trial with so many new faces plus a good contingent from the Western Centre led by Barry Husband. Nice to see those guys riding in the Midlands. A genuinely good event, well done to Pete, Linda and Scott Cartwright of the Dudley Club.

  13. Because we didn't wear helmets in the good old days! We didn't have seat belts in cars and bumpers were made of sheet metal. Orphans were sent to the work house and witches were......
  14. I can't believe in this litigious society we live in today that ANY organiser would allow people to to take part in any organised motorcycling event without making a helmet a pre-requisite. It defies belief. You might as well tattoo "SUE ME" on your forehead. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am with you on that one. I know it will upset the purists but to compete without head protection beggars belief!
  15. By the way, in road racing, scrutineers check the condition of all helmets including the date of manufacture. Any helmet over 5 years old, or one with damage and the official removes the ACU badge. Apparently the badge is fitted to all approved helmets but remains the property of the ACU. If one falls off, (which does happen occasionaly, taking it in and out of a bag for example) then certain scrutineers can inspect the helmet and apply a new badge. For a fee. I have had to quickly change my helmet on the starting grid because I'd put on my spare lid which had lost it's badge and an official had noticed. In road racing. No ACU Gold badge = no ride. We get off easily in trials.
  16. Here's a thought. I've just had a look at my new Nau helmet and that hasn't got an ACU badge on it. (My 5 year old AGV does have one.) I'd not even considered the badge before and I've owned it for three months or more. How many riders are wearing Nau's?
  17. My lad has been wearing a NZI helmet for three years and never been asked to show an ACU sticker. When he bought the helmet, Steve Saunders was wearing one as do a lot of other riders who even ride on the road. This said; it does not meet the regulations laid down by the ACU in the handbook, therefore would not be legal to be used in ACU sanctioned events. See page 55 where it says: "The only indication that a helmet is suitable for immediate use in motorcycle sport is the ACU gold or silver stamp firmly affixed. It is considered that any person selling a helmet for competition use as "ACU Approved" without an approval stamp firmly affixed IS making a false trade description." Draw your own conclusion from this.
  18. Bums on seats.... well, feet on pegs! Proves the point. Dudley Group trial at Kinlet. 103 pre entered riders. Something must be drawing that many riders to a Group (read team) trial at muddy old Kinlet. Yes 103!

    New Or 2nd Hand?

    Every year they say thet've cured the electric problems. It spoilt the 'Beta' experience for me last year.... same thing twice!
  20. Midland Centre road trials coming up: The Vale of Evesham, Centre Championship two routes 20 miles 29th January. The Colmore Cup, One off National for this year (Not a NovoGar round) 25 Miles and one lap of 40 sections across the Cotswold Hills near Broadway. Punch card change at the half way point, which for this year is at a remote farm high on the hills.

    Beta 04 200

    I think you will find the 2004 REV3 200 has the cdi and stator from the previous years 250. I know for a fact that it is different from the 04 250 as I tried to swap the parts off my lads 200 onto my 250 when the stator went. (Which happened twice in 5 weeks) I know everyone says this, but contact BVM at Stroud, they do a complete electrics kit which does away with the original rubbish Beta fit at the factory. Do the job the once. Not like I did and end up doing it again later. Rev3 2004 Electrics = Rubbish.
  22. I was talking to Lynda, Pete and Scott from the Dudley club yeterday. They usually run two laps of 20 sections. There will be two routes as per all Midland Centre Championships. A clubman/over40 route which is usually won on a low score but gives a fair days sport for less experienced riders, and the Expert/Inter route which looks awful scary to me. I think Kinlet is a cracking venue. No there are not any rocks, but it's about as varied as any other venue in the Midland Centre. Streams, muddy climbs, steep banks and roots. Normally with a well spaced out event.
  23. I was speaking to Mick about this very subject yesterday after I spotted the one on Ebay. He was saying that there were only 20 of these bikes produced, using the DT175 engine. It was used to some sucess at club/centre level buy John Braithwaite. Chapman-Tyrell Evesham is actually owned bu Mick Chapmans sister Sue and her partner Mark Tyrell. I have no doubt that Sue would pass on any messages to Mick.
  24. I am, why take the risk, the top four in the series will end the series being the top four. I think Doug needs to cruise the indoors, wave at the fans, run over start cards and kinell, most of the section, save body and bike for the proper trials. Can't win outdoor rounds if your in a body cast. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I personaly agree and it is obvious to all that the 4rt is not competitive indoors, but what would HRC say if Doug didn't give it his best shot? And who pays his wages? It's sad to see out star having such a hard time, but that's motorsport for you. Not everyone gets the same machines.
