  1. Got my Rev3 registered last year (in the end I didn't get to ride it on the road, the electrics didn't last long enough.) Despite it being 4 months old, DVLA accepted the cert of newness and I got it reg as brand new that day. I queued for about an hour and a half at the licencing office at Worcester and left the place with a reg number and a tax disc. I've also registered a Yamaha enduro bike, DVLA accepted an official letter from Yamaha stating the year of manufacture and I got an age related plate. On that occasion the DVLA wanted to see the bike. Enduro and Trials bikes do not need SVA, so things like road legal tyres, indicators etc etc are not part of the inspection. They just checked for engine and frame numbers. Again, the queuing is the real pain. The inspection and the paperwork was simple.
  2. I wonder if Steve Saunders carries around a couple of spare stators when he's riding his Beta?

    Help!

The photo looks just like Balla-cry, just outside Kirk Michael on the TT course, I wondered if it was a picture of you at that particular spot by any chance?

    Help!

Sorry I can't help with the seal. I was just wondering if it is you at Balla-cry?
  5. After years of worrying about finding observers, I personally enjoy setting out and organising club trials a lot more now I just put the boards out at each setion at the start time. The riders either observe each other or observe the rider behind/infront. It's amazing how this takes the pressure off the organiser. If the riders cheat.... they cheat. Most of us ride/organise for fun. Why should it become a chore? I just enjoy being out on my bike with lots of friends. And trials is so so inexpensive compared with other forms of motorsport.
  6. I would be interested to find out what insurance the lady thinks you are going to get which covers you on a private practice ground? Also; In addition to the insurance covered by the entry fee. For (ACU) road trials, insurance is available if you uneed it, at the start to cover minimum third party insurance. This costs
  7. Mine is the same, just a different colour and it now comes with a detachable neck cord.
  8. For what it's worth.... I was so so impressed with the Sherco 125 when I tried it and I'm rubbish (and 13 stone.) I honestly think I would loose no less marks on my 250 in the avergae trial if I was riding one. Maybe less?
  9. I know it's too late but on our road race bikes, we fill the tanks up with water before pumping in the air, it slows things down a little. And it is also safer. Compressed air causes quite a lot of friction, this creates heat and we all know what we get when we mix oxygen, petrol and heat!
  10. If you organise the event/practice through the ACU (or other official body), you will get a permit and therefore insurance. Do it off your own back and you could be left wide open to claims if someone gets injured. Especially if money has changed hands.
  11. Here's some predictions for 2006 following FIM rules. There will only be 10 riders who register for the British Championship, all the others will drop down to the B route (British Experts.) Dougie won
  12. Just weighed mine on the kitchen scales; 2lb 7oz 1100 grammes The cheek side pads come out easily but the lining seems to be permanent. (Unless I'm being too careful with it that is!) I've washed mine in the shower a couple of times, just used hair shampoo and left it to dry on the radiator for a couple of days, this worked ok.

Two years ago the Scorpa was my secret weapon, I won a number of Centre Clubman trials, I kept saying to people it's the bike, it flatters me. Funnily enough, now Scorpa's are less expensive compared to the oposition, a number of people I was easliy beating, have now bought Scorpa's and I can't beat them any more. Drat! Shouldn't have given so many test rides to my opponents.
  14. I did try the 290 at the BVM test day and in Breakheart quarry, on the dry grippy rocks it was excellent. I can't comment on how good it was in the wet as..... it wasn't. I can certainly agree with the TMX report about the bigger engine having a very user friendly power delivery.
  15. Couldn't keep the stator on my Beta going long enough to find out if it gripped!
  16. I'm rubbish but the Scorpa flatters me..... a lot!
  17. Crickey! What was that all about?
  18. Surely the observing rules can be specified, quiet legitimately, in the final regulations, long after the permit has been issued by the ACU?
  19. In theory you are totally correct. The only trouble with this approach is, that setting out a trial so that hopping etc is not required to ride the sections, means that those who are able to do it well have an even bigger advantage. What's the point of having an event where the wobblers can wobble around without hopping and the top 10 Experts are all on 0? I really dislike the FIM rules and despair at the thought of having three sets of rules to run to. Just to benefit the tope few International riders who would still be the top riders under any rules.
  20. I agree with your sentiments there Stuart, as an organiser; yes we've heard it all before but lets not forget that the riders are the customers and we as organisers should remember that we need the riders, just as they need us. Secondly, if we dislike the comments riders make, then we do have a choice, no one forces us to organise an event if we don't want to.
  21. Ahh now we're getting there, the bolt did serve a purpose once. What did the tab of ally look like? I had my bike new in the summer, so I know it wasn't on there originaly, was it left off at the factory? Or do the letter ones not have it?
  22. Ohh no three sets of rules, I don't believe it.
  23. Three years ago at the Varden, we cleared out the branches at the top end of the concrete filter beds to make a new exit for the experts. The resulting 6ft wall made everyone stop gather around and look for some time before the top lads had a go. I was very worried that we'd gone one 'step' too far with this. In this weeks event the A route riders just walked the section, the wall and the corresponding drop back in didn't event warrant a pause, they were more concerned at not loosing a dab in the mud at the top! The riding ability we are now seeing is extremely high for a Centre event.
  24. Good job I didn't have factory tyres then. I ran myself over more than once on Sunday.
