  1. My light is next to worthless (2013 raga) . Shines on the front fender and looks really trick but does little to light up the obstacles ahead. Has anyone put an aftermarket light on for better night visibility? My friends on sherco and betas have much better coverage with their stock lights and I'm feeling left in the dark. thanks SZ
  2. I've had both. Beta: great build quality and feel (ergonomics, geometry). poor plastic and average suspension Gasgas: best suspension you can buy. slightly lighter than beta. super flexi plastics. build quality maybe a notch lower than beta. my choice: GASGAS but you will be happier with either. Seems like the older guys like the Betas where I am. I loved mine but am happier with the gasser (12 raga).
  3. I just came off a 2010 beta onto a 12 raga. Ergonomics feel better and the suspension/breaks are light years ahead of the beta. Other than that Beta was awesome except for the brittleness of the rear fender.
  4. I'm still waiting on my raga (shipping in transit now from KS -> HI) that i ordered in may. I sold my Beta 2 months ago and had to get back into mtn biking just to keep myself sane. This has been a pretty tough wait, but I was told it's due to the tsunami damaging a few factories in Japan so out of GG's control. At least I'll soon have the best bike money can buy
  5. add stiffer springs on both ends and a tooth or two up front to open up the section gears. pack extra gas, and pick the toughest lines you can find... that's exactly why i ride a trials bike now, coming from a mtn bike background i switched to a xc250 and then got the taste of a trials and never looked back. change the oil and filter often, dont let it get too hot and you'll be able to take it anywhere as long as you can pack enough gas.
  6. there's no possible way i could wait that long... i think the 13 JTGs will be out long before that and they look sweet.... just biding my sweet time til sept....difficultly...
  7. i'm biding my time and getting the raga..going insane waiting with no bike but at least i'll have the best in 2 months or so.... any web site or info on the tech forks?
  8. yup, i think you are right... I thought for some reason the 13 race models had dropped early. Raga's should ship mid sept from what i can get out of the limited contacts I have... jonzing for a bike bad. Those new Jotagas' sure look sweet too... thanks for clearing that up

    Overheating

mine spits out a few ounces when i top it off (i inspect it before every ride, and it always is low) and then ride hard for 15 min or so. it seems to stop p****** after those few ounces are gone but it looks lower than it should... maybe i have a leaky cap too or this is just common. I have gone through a couple of water pumps but this one seems to be holding. My fan is working fine but starting to squeal a little and I'll replace the motor next few weeks.
  10. I thought it was the 2013 race that was available, but regardless I decided to go with the raga.... now i just have to stick it out with no bike for 2 months. thanks for the feedback!

    Race Or Raga

So I sold two bikes and have the cash to get a new one. available now, 2013 race 300 (well shipping to this rock takes 2 weeks) available mid september 2012 raga 300 (2013). price diff is about $600 think it's worth the wait and cash difference? Just asking for opinions here.... either way i'm so dam excited

    2013

3 lbs is huge savings for sure. How about the 'tech' forks compared to the zocc? i think sherco is running them as well but I can't eve find a web site for the company... anyone have any more info on that? will they be as user serviceable and can take stiffer springs? adjustability? there's really not much info on them that i can find anywhere... thanks! SZ

    2013

So... what makes the 2012 raga that's about to drop better than the 13 pro/racing besides: the new rear shock/linkage tech fork (better than the zocc?), keihin carb and of course black rims? what's the price diff? I'm looking at 8100 for the raga....worth it? On top of all that, how much better is the raga than the just released $5400 eco?
  14. so it's just vaporware... thanks for the feedback!
  15. which model/year 280 has the upside down forks as pictured: http://lewisportusa.com/ossa.htm
  16. not sure how well the 280i gearing will do on the road (or the trail)... :|
  17. also, change all the hoses on the carb! a buddy got a non-working bike the same way and that was the fix...
  18. can anyone confirm the gears will be the same as 280? I was hoping they would be more evenly spread to make it more street and trail friendly.

    Beta Suspension

I just added the stiffer front spring along with new seals and oil and my eve came alive. I'm a little light for the rating on the spring (says 220 and I'm about 210 with gear at the most) but since i ride it like a mountain bike the thing is wicked...highly recommended. As for dampening/rebound, i'm happy with where it's at now so whatever. I have a rear spring to put in as well, I'll report back once that's done.
  20. They are just an overall pain to work with. even when i nip them they tend to slid out of place when slide the whole unit over and onto the carb... I was thinking, maybe just some plastic pop-in plugs or something instead?
  21. These things are horrible to work with and a pain to take on/off... http://trialstribulations.net/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=324 any interesting mods that you guys are using instead? thanks! SZ
  22. Girlfriend's 06 Gas Gas 280 fan isn't working (which resulted in milky oil, here we go again). I really don't know much about the electrical system on these things but so far I've eliminated: bad connection (tested and bypassed) dead motor (spins up both ways when connected to a battery) bad thermostat (works) Could be that the DC Converter/Rectifier is bad and not putting out enough juice (although some)? How would I test further and what else could the problem be? Reading below, I need to make sure that 12vAC is even getting to the rectifier, also pull off the flywheel to see nothing's funky in there....and then? Don't want to buy a new rectifier blindly... I found this for reference: http://www.trialspartsusa.com/diagrams/KokusanDigital2005Pro.jpg http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/32530-gas-gas-fan-problem-help-needed/ http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/16442-burnt-up-fan-relay/ Also, what besides water pump would go out to let coolant into the case? thanks, SZ
  23. its soft plastic/rubber so i just kind of bent it to get it out. I had to cut off the chain guard the is part of the stater cover to get the 13t to fit fyi.
  24. I put a 13 on the front and left the stock rear (had to get a new chain and also cut off the chain guard). It makes it much more usable in the trails, as I actually get to use first. I rarely use 5/6th 'cept on fire roads, but even then i'm careful not to bog it; mostly you can just cruise slow in 4th. I'm pretty happy with it as an uphill mountain bike ('10 evo 290) but it's not a ktm250xc. My rear brake overheats from lots of trail riding though... I need to work that issue out, there's a thread on that.
