  1. Any chance of a photo Johnboy?
  2. Its exactly like it is ment to be. There is no additional cover either. Mud does get in but not much. Use an air filter treatment oil, its tacky and traps the dirt. Buy an other air filter and swap the old dirty one for a clean one after every ride. I use a squirt of fairy liquid and hot water to clean mine. I used to put them in the washing machine but as I'm getting married next August I'm trying to tame myself! Need to know anything else, just ask! Also, this post maybe of interest. Click here! You may want the Scorpa SY manual too. Scorpa SY manual
  3. You're missing something mate. You are insured for road use unless you are competing in a competition listed in the clauses, i.e. trials. The ACU will offer cover during the trial.
  4. I think its only recently that insurance companys have included this clause, although I'm not sure. I would imagine it is included becasue of the timed aspect of such trials. If you need to make up time you are going to ride just that little bit faster on the road and therefore increase the likelihood of an accident.
  5. Carol Nash will insure it but it may not be covered for trials competion use, as is the case with mine.
  6. Wasn't the "no-stop" rule introduced to reduce the time riders spent in a section?

    2005 Scorpa

Think I had water in just once, in the middle of a trial. I'm not sure though, the bike just ran flat and then died. It refused to start so I removed the tank, then the plug. Turned it upside down and pushed the kick start for about five mins. Put it back to together and then it worked like a dream again. Never had any water after jet washing. I've heard all the "you should never jet wash your bike because..... " stories, but for me, the jet wash is the way to go, just use care. Need to know more... Just ask!
  9. Oh... Ok. Eveyday is a school day!

    2005 Scorpa

I've had to get to the carb and I've done it two ways. First time I took it out without removing the airbox and subframe. It took a while and was a pain to put back. Second time I just took the subframe (with the airbox still attached) off. It took less than 5 mins the second time. About 6 hex head bolts I think and a screw driver for the airbox rubber. DF is right about the sprk plug, but to be fair it is not a big job to take the tank off. Two bolts, but is does take a "nack" to put it back on. Once you've done it a couple of times then you soon learn the score. I used to change the plug every time I took the tank off. On the advice of Marky Boy I now use a ...(shoots off down stairs to see which plug!)... NGK BKR6EVX. They're not cheap but I've had the same one in for about a year! Here's a picture I took when I first took the carb out. It shows just how tight it is. Go for the airbox every time. Its easy!
  11. I thought all fronts are tubed?
  12. I think the one of the most interesting points about Scorpa is that they take the time to respond to queeries. I have, on a few occasions, sent emails with questions etc and I have always got a response. I jsut think it shows good customer based skills from a manufaturer. I have never contacted any other company but I do wonder if they all have the same attitude?

    1998 Tyz250

Hey df, its your call mate. I shall be sticking with 600, bearing in mind that the manual I kept from my old TYZ days says to use 700 I think dropping to 500 maybe a little low. Do you notice any thing differant from using just that little bit less oil then?

Page 7 of the Scorpa pdf states .60l.
  15. Bit slow of the mark there r2w, the Scorpa "thing" has already been mentioned here But what about some infomation on the 4T then? I sent an email to Scorpa asking about the 4T. I tried to be clever and use a language tool to translate the text in to French, I don't think it worked to well because I was asked to use English as the email made no sense, that's why the question starts of a bit strange. Here's the question: Ok, sorry! I was asking what plans you have for a 4 Stroke machine. I own an 2003 SY250 and would like to know if you intend to release a 4 Stroke in the near future. Thanks I received this reply: Dear Mark, Actually we are working on a 250 4 stroke with YAMAHA engine, it will be ok for summer 2005. This bike will be totally new. This bike will be launch at the Trial GP 2005 in France (in Ales in the SCORPA garden). Best regards Jean-Marc AUTHEMAN May see a Scorpa 4T in June then?

    1998 Tyz250

Just checked up on the manuals. Yam book says 700ml and the Scorpa one says 600. I once had a litre in the SY, note earlier post: Seemed to work ok but I got masses of clutch drag. I think what happend was that I thought I was removing all the old oil and then adding 600ml. I guess there must have been some left in because when I used my measuring jug (instead of the old washing up bowl I normally use) it filled to a litre! Whoops!

Woody has got al the good gen in his post, you can't go wrong with thm really. The manuals are spot on, I kept mine as I traded in for a Scorpa SY and as they share the same engine I thought it would come in handy. The only other bike that comes close on the manual front is a Mont. It does make me wonder why the other manufatures can't produce a good manual, those that have seen a TYZ book will know what I mea I think the clutch drag will go when you change the oil. Its a sure sign that the oil is past its sell by date, my SY drags when the oil is kaput. I use Putoline GP10, its a 2 stroke gearbox oil, tons of MX'ers use it and you know what a thrashing their bikes get. The gearbox holds 600cc of oil, make sure you use a good socket on the sump plug (think its 13mm?) as its made of toffee and will round if not carefull. Some people take a bolt of the side near the gear change, I use to do this but found it near impossible to get all the oil out.
  18. For sure, he's the geeky one!
  19. Thinking of getting my wheels re-spoked over the winter. Can anybody suggest a company that will do them and a rough cost? Also, do they re-seal the back spokes with rim tape etc or is that up to me?
  20. Hey John, you could of told Duck Wizard this at Alvie, You do know who he is don't you?
  21. Just got my rider number, 109. Right, its now 06:30 Wed morning and I'm about to set of for the 400 mile trip to North Yorks. Then its a further 300 miles to Portsmouth. Travel Lodge tonight and ferry first thing in the morning. Jersey here we come!!
  22. We're getting the ferry on the 11th, much cheaper than the one on the 12th. This gives us thursday night to get blooted with out having to ride next day. I'll be riding a blue/white 03 SY250 with boofont on the front number board. Should hopefullt have some trick titanium fork guards by then too!
  23. So where exactly is it being held? Bearing in mind I'm not from them parts!
  24. Hey charlie, did you use the "IMG" button at the top of the text entering box? This is the code you entered: [/img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/charliechitlins/shortylever002.jpg[/img] Look at the first [/img], it shouldn't have the "/" in it. It should read
