    SSDT Newbie

Thanks a lot for the information! Meanwhile we managed to get a spot at a camping ground close to the paddock. Physical training is in progress, of course. I already watched the whole YT series. I know it's a hard timeline so we planned to go through the sections rapid. We are both very experienced riders but there is no training area in Germany that comes any close to the terrain we will have. 😅 I started moto trials early at the age of six and did countless competitions in youth (40 today). Had a lot of breaks during the years and got a TRS in December just for the SSDT. I promised my mate to join if he can start and luckily we both are able now. One more thing I'm wondering about.. There will be some sections that end at the start of the next section, I heard. Is it allowed to rest between these two sections? Or do you have to go through both sections in a row without resting?

thanks for the information. So you don't know if it's allowed to camp at the paddock?
  3. Seems to be an obsolete part number since it's not listed on the S3 website anymore.

    SSDT Newbie

Hi there! 🙂 I'm from Germany and will take part at the SSDT with a friend both as newbies. We got some information from another German rider who took part last year but it would be great to get some information from experienced SSDT riders. 😊 So first question at this point.. Is it possible to camp in a van at the paddock or close to the paddock? Thanks a lot in advance, mates! 🙂
  5. S3 does not offer a certain insert for the gold. I don't believe that the gold has a different gas tank or cylinder than the RR so there shouldn't be any difference. Ask your dealer to get in touch with S3 they probably will send you an insert with short thread. Or get one of the spark plug connector that I posted. It will take some time until S3 react.
  6. Funny story.. When I received the parcel from the shop I noticed that it's located very close to my work. So I went there to return and told them I'm the guy with the spark plug connectors. But they didn't notice so probably that's their daily business 😅. Anyway I put some into the tip jar and now everybody is happy. Meanwhile S3 parts decided to cut an insert down to short thread and send it right to me in a few days. A bit late but it's a good service.
  7. Fixed it. 🎉 There is a tiny spark plug connector from Beru O4S. There is good clearance with this one. NGK LZFH - is working as well, the one for M4 thread terminal. LZEH with SAE terminal is a little bit higher and does not work as good as LZFH.
  8. There are reasons. But this is offtopic, so please let's stay on topic.
  9. Nope, putting the lower front brackets back in didn't change anything. But thanks for your thoughts anyway.
  10. I can't imagine the engine is turned towards the gas tank so much only by just taking away the both front down brackets. But it's a fact I'll check later.. will just put one bracket in to see if it gets anywhere. Thanks a lot for the idea!! 🙋‍♂️
  11. It's pretty confusing.. Meanwhile I received a picture from the dealer that S3 sent to them. It shows a high comp. insert with long thread (that obviously worked with stock bike). On their website they only show the low comp. insert with long thread. On that page the high comp. insert has short thread. 🤯 So as splatshop says it's a surprise. But unfortunately the long thread and spark plug don't fit my stock bike. I ordered a bunch of spark plug connectors.. maybe one of them is tiny enough to fit. I'll keep you posted, if anyone has the same issue in future.
  12. Do you have a special brand or part number in mind?
  13. Sure, just like the genuine one.
  14. Hi there, did anyone successfully installed an S3 low compression insert on a 300 RR MY22, the yellow one? I tried today but the gas tank is not fitting anymore. The sparkplug is way to close because they say to use a BPR5ES. And you will need one with a long thread. See pictures.. just tried it out before installing by putting the insert and spark plug at the spot. Any idea? The only way I see is to turn down the thread of the insert to fit the very short genuine spark plug. https://www.s3parts.com/en/cylinder-head/357-cylinder-head-trrs That's all S3 provides and you can see by comparing the pictures that one stands out. Best regards Felix
  15. Thanks for your thoughts. Sure I know the Kaercher. I live close to that company and my landlord is even working for Kaercher. It's the first one of that devices I knew of. But the water capacity is poor and the pressure a little lower than the jetwet as I read in comparisons. The jetwet is compressible, got an adjustable nozzle and price is 1/3 off.. Better and cheaper. I know what to expect regarding water pressure and capacity.
  16. It's not available right now. So I have to wait. There are companies for forwarding? That's a good idea! How much would be forwarding a parcel with ca. 30x30x35 cm and about 3 kg?
  17. I know that and sure there are some pros for the worx but I really like the jetwet. Which is out of stock meanwhile.
  18. Hi there UK trial-mates! I'd like to get a nice portable cleaner that is unfortunately just available for UK shipping. https://www.jetwet.co.uk/product/jetwet-portable-power-washer/ I'm from Germany and so I'm looking for a nice trial-mate who would be kind and forward the parcel to Germany. Of course I'm going to pay all shipping costs to Germany in advance. I got some Boyesen power reeds and carbon fiber reeds for some Sherco bikes. One of them as a free gift for the helper! ? If not I'll find another way to say thank you.

    Generator/radiator fan

If you're talking about the competition parts. Yes, they are in use. I'll take a closer look on them this evening. Nobody else with the same issue? Low fan speed due to less voltage from generator! Maybe I did a mistake last time. But this evening the generator is doing well. It's about 60 ACV at mean engine speed. The fan worked proper but the lighting broke down. I checked the rectifiers output which was about 35 DCV. I'll replace the rectifier at first. It's obviously defect.

    Generator/radiator fan

Thank you, but I got 2 stroke. There is no fuel solenoid on my bike. Any other ideas?
  21. Hi there! The radiator fan on my EVO 250 MY16 is running very slow. I ended up voltage metering the generator yesterday and its about 3-4 ACV at mean engine speed. That's way less. I was metering at the plug under the rear fender, next to the CDI. Anybody with an idea to fix it? Thanks!
  22. There's just one theoretical case you'll need a sidestand on a trials bike. You are at an area without obsticals, walls, trees, rocks, cars, unicorns.. Let's think of a salt desert. Because there is no reason to be in salt desert with an trials bike in fact there is absolute no practical case for a sidestand on a trials bike. So take this useless part away and keep your thoughts on riding instead of resting.
  23. Hi, I already tested just these bronze bearing bushes. They are very soft and deform to easy. It works but the mod with hard steel inner rings as distance bush does way better. And you don't need sealings with slide bearings. Perhaps they last a little longer but depending on your use of the bike you have to renew the slide bearings once or twice a year for 1-2 bugs each.
  24. It's steel coated with bronze and on top PTFE (out- to inside). There are different coatings and materials. There are even durable bearings completely made of special kind of plastic, see igus.com
  25. If you want to have less maintenence at your linkage throw out this useless needle bearings and put slide bearings inside. As a spacer you have to use a bushing. I took inner rings for needle bearings on mine. The inner rings are fitted with a special loctite glue. I use this modification for about 6 months and the linkage is still close to free of play. I had about 5 mm vertical play at the rear wheel axle on the nearly new bike before I done this mod.
