  1. Well removed and stripped my engine this week to find main bearings gone! sheild had dropped off stator side bearing also damage to crank seal! Had the bike running today and it seems totaly different revs crisp more compression harder to kick over and idles spot on! There where 3 cyl base gasket which have now been replaced with 1 that beta uk said i needed!

Right rode a trial today and bike seemed to not want to idle right and had to mess with idle screw a lot also i have noticed that when i leave it ildling then blip throttle it sort of hesitates/splutters off idle! Did not notice any fuel leaking and only had to fill up once today same as our lad! Spoke to a few beta evo 2011 owners and they all say you need to do your main bearings as they have all done theres as my engine does not run smooth and is slightly noisey!

Right had mess with bike today had carb in bits cleaned, needle on 2nd notch from bottomn air screw 1&half turns out new ngk irradium plug new air filter! ran bike up on stand and cant see any fuel leaking from carb overflow pipes even had front and rear wheels in the air still no fuel from carb overflow pipes! One thing i did notice was a hell of a lot of smoke from exhaust when cold! i mix my fuel at 70/1 and have never noticed the smoke from cold before today! do i have a crank seal problem? exhaust was cleaned and repacked not long ago?

  4. Never had to re-jet any Evo we have had! Other than a tweak of the air screw now and then with temp change, they run perfect out of the box at sea level. The 2013 is the very first one we have had to change the needle setting.

    Bike runs fine! at a trial on sunday i had to fill up 2 times my brother who as the same bike managed to get round on a tank full!

    Hi betarick is there something wrong with the way youre bike carburates at he moment? or do you just want to see what its like with different jets ? try 45 0r 48 pilot. 125 or 122 main . needle in 2nd clip from bottom as starting point airscrew in between 1 to 2 turns out try different settings see what feels best for you...[/s]

    Hi just curious about jet sizes and settings really! never really touched carb other than remove and clean. But just lately it seems to be using more fuel! At trials i seem to be having to refuel a lot!

  6. Hi all as anyone messed with carb jetting on a 290 evo? what size jets do you recomend and needle clip position & air screw setting? I remember changing jets on my old rev3 mukuni carb and made a big difference!

  7. http://www.facebook....11497569&type=1Right im in need of help with my 348 gearbox! just been placing all shafts out to see whats there and not? Bought the bike in bits with engine/gearbox stripped. I have a parts diagram but cant figure out what im missing or where it all goes! All can figure out is that im missing kickstart shaft circlip and spacer/washer. I have 4 large brass shims for crankshaft but have just one small brass shim is this for selector? and should there be more? also there is another six shims where do these go? I will post a link to pics so please help as im at a loss!
  8. Well my evo is running again thanks to john lampkin who did us stator under warranty! Top guy also fit a new fan thermo switch so good times and a big thankyou to beta uk!

  9. Well confirmed evo still have the beta stator failure tonight tryed my cdi and coil on a running evo tonight and they are both fine spare bike runs with them! I removed stator which looks like new no rust or mud as i allways remove cover after washing bike and leave to dry till i next ride bike.Tested stator again with multimetre and got a reading of 1.278 kohms on source coil measured across red and blue wires at cdi multiplug! should only be about 350ohms! so all that worry about cdi stuck to side of engine and getting damaged forget as stator will f--kup before you bash that!

  10. Here are my readings source coil 1.286 K OHMS trigger coil 361 ohms coil secondary 9.70k ohms coil primary 0.4 ohms brown 0 ohms Do these figures make sense? i have noticed that fan turns when i kickstart it!

  11. Gday, just found these in my Beta folder. Measured directly from my running 2010.

    Source Coil

    Blue and Red

    resistance - 316 ohms. No circuit to ground.

    output at kickover - 25 V AC

    Trigger Coil

    White and Black

    resistance - 336 ohms. No ground.

    output at Kickover - 0.3 v AC

    Coil Secondary

    measured from plug cap to ground

    Resistance - 10.17 K Ohms

    Coil Primary

    White/red trace

    Measured between CDI connector and ground.

    Resistance 0.4 ohms

    Ground

    Brown

    0 ohms circuit to ground.

  12. i took original beta switch off bike when it was New as i have had trouble with them before ! It is not the kill switch as i have disconnected it. anyone know which wires to test stator ingnition coil?

  13. i checked coolant level when i noticed fan going all the time and it was fine to top of radiator . Will this fan problem put extra load on stator and made it fail ? Will be ringing lampkins today to see what can be done !

  14. yes, replace one on mine at 8 months old.

    I was just entering a section, and it stopped, wouldn't believe it at first, swap all parts of identical bike to make sure, got it under warrenty so not so bad, but still................

HI all! my 290 2011 evo died tonight and as no spark! tried disconecting kill switch checked all wiring conectors spark plug and cap! do evos suffer with sator failure? as i had to replace one on my old rev3! also before it died i have had a fault on my fan and it was running all the time even when starting from cold, i did disconect fan switch and it stopped so i left it connected and thought it was better it going all the time than not at all! would fan running all the time had an efect on stator and made it fail? cheers for any replys.

  16. Leakey crank seals sounds like mains are shot bigend gone needs a rebore and a piston! I would stay away could get very expensive! trust me i have been there with a techno.And they cant be rebored as the barrel is plated being alloy!

  17. How many times as everybody been stuck in a section que waiting to ride it while someone hops around in the section and takes ages! I for one often think to myself while waiting wish it was no stop! Even though i have never really rode non stop rules!
