  11. Why is it plod has no problem giving you a ticket for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, and he can be sat 100 yards away in his car stuffing pies in his face. Quit wingeing and go ride thi bloody bikes.
  12. How does a dead man operate the switch in the first place in fact why would the FIM even let a dead man start the event.
  13. Makes you wonder what all the fuss is about if the world championship rules mean bugger all anyway.
  14. I rode a 125 in the ssdt and more than one day it can be over 20 miles of road to the first group of sections, it had no problem, 35 mph is probably a comfortable speed to not over do it.
  15. About sums it up Steve, I think more play and couch time suited me better, this work lark sucks, Kary Krahel thought I should get a real job so I could have some time off.

    No Stop Rule

I think It's about 15 years since the event went back to no stop with a full entry every year since it did, that's about 4,050 riders with quite a few world riders also competing. I have not seen one post in that time from any rider stating it was better when you could stop and hop.

    No Stop Rule

Today I was out building a Novice/Intermediate section that I thought looked fun for club trials, after I got it sorted I got my bike and test ride, it was a bit clarted in mud but couldn't clean it riding no stop, I could clean it if I stopped and hopped the front end but I wanted a section that reflects the abilities of those who will be riding it, so eased the section enough that it could be ridden with full lock turns and no stop. This applies to any level of the sport, and providing the section is set for those riding and scored to the no stop rules then they will have to be eased. As for the world and national championship, all those few top riders do for me is make the bike and spares cost more, with the majority of the many rule changes back and forth also accredited to the same few top riders at any given decade over the past thirty years. If it all fell flat on it's ass tomorrow, no more bikes or championships because it is no longer financially feasible, I dare say it wouldn't be long before riders would be converting trail bikes and running events and sections that allows them the same amount of enjoyment they get now with a lot less crap.

    No Stop Rule

Hosted a few Nationals Chuck and except the fact those events have to be run to stated rules, but I think if more traditional safer sections become the norm at club level given time top level would change too.

    No Stop Rule

A world wide one rule fit's all is never going to happen, why can't we except that and move on to what works for your own area. People are way too worried about what rules the champs ride and think all should follow. Truth is at top level they are going to try and do what is best for them, sad thing is they arn't doing too well at it are they?. I can't say what would work for trials at the top level but it doesn't have any concern to what I do, so why even give it another thought, on the other hand the local club is running events that for the most part keep the sport fun for the majority of it's members, we may not have the fairest scoring rules in the world or the most spectacular sections, but if the members can go home after a day or weekend and say "I had a good time with my mates" isn't that all that matters.
  20. I think the idea started over there, selling race in the UK = claiming race in the US, for the dog's that couldn't win anything else, the idea was to stop dodgers from running a good horse for an easy outing and win.
  21. I asked the question because I don't think the rules are the problem, more the application of said rules. The sooner the world championship hops up it's own ass in a cloud of two smoke the better. In the US, clubs can run club events under any rules or format they want, and for me that is where there is still a bit of enjoyment to be had.
  22. Got to ask, Do you think observers don't like to give the five because they don't know what a stop is? or just feel uncomfortable giving a world round rider a failure. Isn't it a lot worse for Joe Blogs riding full no stop in every section getting beat in the event because the observer isn't comfortable applying the rules correctly.
  23. The last time the FIM went no stop NATC decided to wait a year and see how it worked at world level before making any changes, a year later the FIM went back to allowing a stop so a change wasn't needed. In my experience the NATC try and cater for the US rider, and the national championship, what individual clubs do is nothing to do with the NATC.
  24. I think a big point that is being missed, is the type of section has to be made to reflect the style of riding required in no stop. If clubs choose to follow the FIM in the rule change in this part of the world, then the people marking out the course need to keep this in mind, and for the first few events keep it simple and flowing, even a bit on the easy side. I think it's all down to the section plotters, it would be easy to say I don't like no stop so I'm going to mark out tight turns and big steps just to prove the new rules don't work, all that does is p*** em off so they don't come back again no matter what the rules. if the idea is to get more riders on trials bikes at the events then it is up to us to make the effort.
