  1. Hi mike55 If you listen to virtually any other Ty mono you will find it will make a similar noise to yours. Some worse some better. It is difficult to cure but the general advice is to ensure the engine is bored to a tight clearance by a Ty specialist. The cylinder head then needs some work in a lathe. The engine is based on a Yamaha yz490. They are renowned for pinking, if you do a Google search you will find details how to alter the cylinder head and stop the pinking. With regard to squish, a tight clearance (1mm) is beneficial in preventing pinking. However care must be taken not to increase the compression when reducing the squish.
  2. It depends on what you are rating it on. The build quality is better than any Spanish trials bike new or old. Will take a huge amount of mechanical abuse. But its puney suspension and brakes make for an uncomfortable ride. The 125lc was a lot better and the 125r better still. Probably only produces 10 bhp.
  3. I used a box trailer for 10years it was great. The brenderup one above was the best but expensive, so I copied one for about a 10 times less. I put a slope on the front as they do drag on the motorway. Get it fitted out with folding chairs, hooks for clothes, camel back for water. Make sure it fits under the open garage door.
  4. The suzuki rmx can be a money pit, has an appetite for powervalves. Eats them and destroys the engine. Rmx - a classic pile of ****e, if it happens!
  5. My tyre was a tube type irc on a standard DID rim.
  6. Hi BRB Had the same problem on my twinshock Ty. Tightened up the security bolts each lap on OTF's trial, as the tyre was moving, eventually broke security bolt then ripped the valve out! Tried talon billet security bolt, but they punctured the inner tube. Had success with a sm pro rim as it is serrated around the edge and stops movement. I have tried to file grooves in the rim like the sm pro, but it is difficult, need a knurling tool.
  7. Dixie, I have the same symptoms of a delay, I think the next mod is the flywheel weight. I have tried removing the ring completely but made it too snappy. I will remove a few grams and see how it goes.
  8. Depends what you are comparing it to. A fully modded 250 is about as good as a worn out mono! But as a Jon says they will clean sections nicely. It will never be a torque monster in 250 form.
  9. Spotted this Frankenstein bike http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221153572766 Only its creator could love it!
  10. You can swop the engine for a Honda H100, then put a 120cc cylinder kit on them. In this form it would be better than a TL 125. Very popular engine in Holland, can be highly tuned. I don't know what's been done to this one.
  11. It looks like its got an alloy expansion chamber, tlr slim tank & seat. Might have something on flywheel. Just guessing from photo.
  12. A small article on a chap with 9 Yamaha Majesty's, for any of you interested in the make. http://motor.sportku...isnis-dari-bali Must have plenty of cash & an understanding wife!
  13. Hi, I have seen a twinshock rear wheel on a mono. The problem is the hub/brake plate is larger & retained by a torque arm on the twinshocker. I think they had used a Yam DT brake plate that has a similar retaining system as the mono. That talon rear disc brake was ugly - only the inventor could have loved that!
  14. Yes it is normal, move the shock out with a few washers behind it.
  15. Sorry not a chance. I have seen a 02 with 08 plastics that involved a lot of work to fit. Only easy alteration is to fit silver 2005 plastics.
