  1. Mine has a spacer block fitted which also doubles up as a heat shield for the float bowl.
  2. Its got me thinking just how many of these bikes are left out there? mine is number #1063, so like you Jimg it points to mine being an earlier rather than later model. Colin Seeley apparently produced around 300 of these cracking little bikes but depending on who you speak to this figure could be as low as 280 or as high as 350?
  3. This is the brake plate on my seeley, it might give you a bit more idea as to what your looking for.
  4. Also the R model sump shield was bolted to the frame at its front mounting point with two bolts but only one was used on the S model.
  5. Did the the S model not come with a battery fitted when new? i am sure the housing to carry it was located around the 2, 3, 4,and 5 points, a tool box was also fitted but this was mounted on the removable rear frame loop.
  6. You cannot see the plunger on a 3 series bike, and as fantic240motor and myself have pointed out the set up is different, its worked by a lever which pivots,so when the lever is down the plunger is up hence down is on, this is a photo of my 3 series carb.
  7. The 3 series choke set up is different to the set up on the 5 series bikes, down on a 3 series bike is on,I've just checked on my own 303. Looking at the photos of your bike in the gallery section I think I know your bike maggar,it looks like the one i sold 80% complete to the chap you bought if off.
  8. Mine leaked oil out of the grommet, i tried silicone sealant on the outside but the oil still found a way through, i eventually sorted it by taking the casing off and fully degreasing it inside and out then applying the sealant on the inside around the grommet, did that over a year ago, the bike gets used regularly, so far its been spot on.
  9. I looked into replacing this on my bike while i was on rebuilding it and the feedback i got was that it came as part of the generator assembly and was not available on its own.,
  10. Yes its had some extra bracing put in place above the footrests and headstock (front downtube) the bike has been in north yorkshire for the last 20yrs but i do not know any of its history before that. I have wanted one for a long time but you never really see any for sale, i am more than happy with it, thank you Jason!
  11. My plan is to fully restore the bike then use it in selected trials, it has been parked up and pretty much unused for the last 20yrs but still runs good, however the shockers need replacing and could maybe do with a different silencer? but going to go right through it, rebuild wheels etc,, any suggestions on what is available ref a silencer? Thanks for the sump guard tip,
  12. Could anybody please give me a bit of advice as to what mudguards this would have come with and what would be the closest style of replacement available today, also what would the correct length of the rear shocks have been? Any help and advice will be most welcome.

    Rtl Oil Cooler

These bikes do in my opinion run far to hot for comfort, an oil cooler is something i have looked into fitting onto mine so i find this thread of particular interest, my motor was fully rebuilt 12 months ago, i always run good quality oil in my bike and i change it after every trial but what comes out is always black and well beaten, I have moved the footrests on my bike further back and lower, also head angle has been slightly altered, other than that its pretty standard.
  14. I had the same problem with my RTL, i sorted mine by taking the casing off, cleaning all the oil from around the grommet and then sealing it with silicone, i have rode 6 trials since with no sign of any oil leaking, just be sure you get all the oil off the case and grommet and you will be ok.
  15. Hi Shedracer, My 1987 RTL had PW22 fitted, the internals are pretty much the same, i tapped the pin out on mine using a small punch but going very carefully at it, however in the end i replaced my carb as the body was badly worn resulting in the bike running rich all the time.
