Only things "old" in a trick bantam are the engine casings, barrel and a few other internals! Rest is all brand new. Not saying that's wrong same goes for my c15. Trick bantams perform very well Later fantic engines had reed valve but not sure what year from and whether the 200 ever did. You can see the mounting on the inlet

Ive had 3 4ts and never had one bit of trouble. Never needed to adjust valve clearance or clean carb. Service/oil change is easy and i always found them easy to start, hot or cold. If you like a fast throttle stick with the standard or replace with an amal 80/200. Really softens throttle response. Cam on carb has 2 holes just need to put the cable nipple in the one that puts the cam at its biggest diameter(rear one) The low tractable power/torque is great, just pulls and pulls Factory model has better brakes and suspension.

Definitely agree re getting 200 or 250. 125 more than capable bike but does need more from rider to get it up over and through. Try to get a ride on a few different models to see which suits. Once its moving you wont really feel the weight difference but different suspension etc makes different bikes feel different. I tried a 250 sherco when first started and found it way to flighty, for me, beta much softer power delivery. You can always make sure you have a slow throttle on. The lightest feeling bike I've had which in my incapable hands just felt so easy to ride with icredible suspension steering and brakes is a vertigo 250 dl12. This model has the softer power map and flywheel weight. However be ready for lots of people saying they aren't reliable. My brother in law started at 63, bought a 200 beta then few months later tried my vertigo and went straight out and bought one instead of the beta. He finds it much easier to learn on and has no issues with it being too powerful.

Ty 80 was and still is a brilliant bike. So many youngsters started on them. You wont see that many kids starting on them now. I dont know what you want to spend. Petrol wise you could look for a beta rev 50 at cheaper end or small wheel beta 80, junior. That way you get the whole clutch and gears thing from day 1 and good brakes! Kids learn v quick i wouldn't be concerned and personally think its better than the rev n go. Other option is the v popular oset route. Don't be put off by thinking its an electric toy, it isnt its an excellent route into it that so many choose. There is then a learning curve swapping onto petrol but just takes time

I have high lift cam and the cdi from tyoffroad. Bottom end smoothness is great, revs cleanly. Wont claim a massive improvement but definitely worth doing. Parallel yokes too improved steering

Honestly try a product like ethanol shield. About 15m! To 5litre of petrol. My chainsaw, leaf blower etc all sit for ages unused then start no problem. Stops the ethanol absorbing water (apparently) and stops petrol going "off"

I use ethanol shield in the fuel. Developed for small engines like chainsaws to stop ethanol gunking up the carb

I think the original question meant is the shop worth a look around? As in are they a small business or is it like toys r us for trials riders. I bought a Vertigo from them this year. I'm up in Northumberland and they dropped it off at vertigo HQ for me to collect. They were excellent to deal with and speak to. Bike was spot on

Another vote for IRC rear. Used them on all my twinshocks. Currently have one on my TLR it sits well on rim and grips well.

I had a C15 with a faber frame. I used NJB ultimates they were length adjustable so you can set at what works best for you. Sure they were set at 340mm

Its a very common beta problem. Either try putting in gear and rocking back and forward with clutch in before start it to free sticky plates. Or be ready for it to move off when put it in gear but ride for a bit with clutch in until it releases. If its stood a while hopefully it will ease as its used more

One of the ways to centre the brakes is to leave everything finger tight then pull brake lever. Hold it on then tighten up spindle etc. I always have break shoes relined by villiers services using a much softer compound. Makes a big difference, order online its not expensive.

Gaernes seem to be the shortest, very comfy and subtle.

Get bikes asap. Instruction is great but there is no substitute for bike time. You could pick the easier local trials, enter and just get practice riding round the course all day then pick any of the sections you feel confident enough to try and build up that way. You get a full day on the bikes together and learn as you go. Trials riders are a friendly bunch and you will get plenty of help and advice. Which area are you in, local members will be able to help re the easier events and whether local clubs run any practice days. Best thing is to join facebook trials group for your area

125 is same as the rest of the range in terms of spec, just smaller engine. Passing on the 125 to your son could be an option but not for several years yet and he would probably jump up to big wheel 80 first. For my 2 p worth i agree a 125 is very capable and most youngstrrs can do things with them i never could, but i dont like the power delivery. We have a 125 in the family and i couldnt ride it in a trial as well as a 250. I like the bottom end torque on the 250 not the buzzy 125. My brother in law just bought a fantastic example of a 2019 beta 200 for 3k from fb marketplace so there are good bikes out there. With a 250, particularly beta, you will find them very smooth especially with a slow throttle if needed

Just up the road has great selection of gear and will talk you through everything you need to know while you browse(and spend) good trials scene in NE, plenty of venues suitable for new starters and quite often a practice day just turn up and ride where you will get lots of help and advice. Very friendly sport

Banyeres trials parts did a mitani titanium stand. Expensive but very nice. Not sure if still available for the 4t

No i don't need a 300 its about the diff characteristics of the 300, low down torque v the nippy feeling of 250. I wont use the full top end of either

I've had a few i wish id just stuck with (first 250 beta and first 3004t) but i get bored with modern bikes and keep wanting something different.. This time though its staying (for at least 6 months). Actually fancy trying one of the chinese 2004t tenaci wong things. The 250 beta makes more sense to me
