  1. You're probably lucky you've got any comms at all in IOM. Up till last year I dont think you had your link to Ireland, so Manchester was your lifeline. We've been having a nightmare with IOM all day, among other areas. Think its a biggy.
  2. One other point - Don't leave your pilot jet on the side at home! Runs like **** believe it or not. Not that I've ever done it........ P.S. Thanks for the spare jet on Sunday Gasserboy - spot of luck.
  3. In that case I'll warn him off John Is it yours? Does it have the banana forks? The old folks are away in Cyprus at the moment, but I know he's planning to ride a Scarborough trial at the end of April and would like to get hold of a half decent one before then if he can. Quite funny - I spoke to my mum the other night, and she said "Your dad's out in the shed - clearing space for his new bike that I don't know about"
  4. You calling me a bodger? Sometimes the original just doesn't perform well enough. Lots of easy improvements for the GasGas for instance. Have a look at my GasGreeves 300 Pro idea. Those banana forks are well sought after.
  5. I know what you mean - I'm a little old fashioned too - just ask my wife.....or my boyfriend. The problem with cheque's is you have to actually do something with them when you get them, like put them in the bank straight away and confirm that they've cleared a few days later before sending the kit out. At least with Paypal, and presumably Nochex, when the money's gone in it's confirmed, you get an email and you can send the kit out straight away. OK if you're around a bank fairly often I suppose, but I visit the bank about once a year. Everything else I do on line. My two penneth anyway.
  6. Hi all, My father's after a Greeves Anglian or TFS with banana forks. Must be tidy and ready to trial. He's away on holiday at the moment, but if you have one, or know of one please let me know either by posting here or give me a call on 07715 510085. Thanks, Gaz Hinton
  7. Get my name down for a TrialsCentral "Classic Thong" @ 7.99 and "Camisole" @ 15.99. Those Hebo's get a bit warm in the summer. Should think there's a few people that know me feeling a bit unwell by now, just at the thought of it.
  8. Doesn't look too bad Mike. One thing I've found with mine is the sh*t gets kicked up from the rear wheels on to the bike (mainly hits lower half of both wheels. Mud flaps needed I think, but getting the bike up out of the way would be better for me. I'll have to watch the salt on longer trips. Can't really see on the photo how much it sticks out the back. Mines just about perfect - I have to just tilt the clutch lever up to stop it hitting the rear window (mines an estate too).
  9. Hi Mike, Sorry for delay. Believe it or not, just (10.30pm) back from todays trial after stopping off to do the results. I've just measured from floor to bottom of rear wheel bracket and it's 17 inches. From floor to the bottom of the bracket itself is 10 inches (the main bars which extend from the bracket). From the car bumber out to the rear wheel bracket is 8 inches. Feel free to send photo's, I'm on broadband so no hassle. I'm no expert but I can let you know how it compares to mine. If I get chance and you still need them I can send you photos of mine. JTT - I'll try and get a photo in the next couple of days. I'm away working in the morning and probably late back. I've got a standard Witter tow bar - seems pretty sturdy. I'm more than happy with my Kliponoff rack. Can't fault it - Yet!!
  10. I can get some measurements tomorrow. Drop me an e-mail if I forget to add them to this thread tomorrow night after trial (Sunday). Cheers, Gaz
  11. Just marked it out today. Got some good sections in there - Good old streams and rocks for 8 of them. And some good flat ground for your Scorpa Got to hope the water level doesn't rise too much before Sunday, or it will be panic stations. That's the only trouble with the mountain. We had flash floods two weeks before our big 40 section trial last year - bit worrying - fingers crossed. Hoorah for "global warming" - or will that bring the water levels up? Hopefully just in the sea, not in the rivers. Tenuous link, but gotta keep Perce and Dabster happy P.S. Long way to come for a trial Munch??
  12. How does the A and B route system work? I take it that this is separate to the standard A and B class. If you were riding out of class, this may have been why you were not eligible for points. Upgrading used to be a very formal process particularly for youths (I went through it to go up to B class a year early, as I had a TY175 ready to move on to (about 25 years ago)). Have to say I'm not particularly up to date with Youth rules these days, and sounds like Scotland may have different ones. There's usually two sides to a story, but from your side it does seem a little unfair - Has your dad spoken to John Davies to iron out any misunderstandings. I try to keep politics out of trials which is usually possible by applying common sense, and actually talking to people - there's always the odd occasion where its difficult to see the thinking that's gone on to come to a decision. Just out of interest - how would you have got on? Many championship points at stake here?
  13. You could put in a protest if it really matters (as long as the results weren't done on the day) and if you fancy forking out the money. Check the facts first though. I certainly wouldn't disqualify you for asking for a 5, sometimes it's the most sensible thing to do. Next time just ride through the starts flags and ride out.
  14. Hi All, I think Cubby may be able to help me out on this one as I think I remember him saying he's on the committee, but open to info from anyone who's ridden/organised it. Having not ridden the Manx 2 day before I'm after some info if possible please. Do you know when the Regs will be available and how we can get hold of them? Are they downloadable somewhere, or is there a web site I can look out for them on? How are the entries allocated? Presumably it's limited entry? Is it by ballot or first come first served? What time on Friday (presumably) do we need to report, or is it Sat morning? Thanks, Gaz
  15. The trouble with us Brits is we don't take risks (generally). We play it safe, don't overstep the mark, and retire with enough to keep us in a game of dominoes twice a week (No offence to the championship domino players amongst us, but we can't all hit the big time). The ones that will take a bit of a risk bugger off somewhere that embraces the entrepeneurial spirit (or at least somewhere that doesn't tax you to death for having a go). Instead of evolving, we try to put everything back how it was 100 years ago, concentrating on our heritage and tradition. Sure there's a place for some of that, but some things in the world have got to move on. Even Wales is embracing the modern era - Only this week our local Austin Allegro dealer announced sweeping changes with a brand new fax machine. If they can do it, we all can. We're just not adventurous enough.......now where's my pipe and slippers, Coronation Street's coming on.
  16. I can't be bothered with Apathy.
  17. I believe Ian uses 65:1 on his 125 (the one that's got the knackered silencer). I use 50:1 on my 290. As you know mine gets a bit of a blow out now and then Mines fine.
  18. Yep, just spoke to Importer a couple of days ago. Items such as Barrel, piston, silencer are not covered by manufacturers warranty after first month. Under special circumstances within the first 6 months these items will be swapped out at 'cost'. It's being burnt out this week, which apparently cures around 98% of these problems. Will let you know how it goes.
  19. I'd heard it was a bit corrupt in Scotland Do you take a cheque or is it cash only. (Flak jacket firmly fitted and done up. Don't suppose there's many from Scotland on here eh?)
  20. As a long suffering front row I'd have to agree, except for one situation. I've nearly crippled myself giving my Sherco 290 a half hearted (or tired) kick. The damn thing kicks back and tries to get my knee over my shoulder going through the handlebar on the way. It's happened that many times now I half laugh half cry when it happens I swear it's trying to put me out of my misery sometimes.
  21. I've heard it, sounds like there's no silencer on it. The problem is, the bike is going to be doing the Nationals. There's very little chance of it passing the noise meter if they turn up with one (not unheard of). Pretty bad for a 4-5 month old bike. Anyone know what happens if it fails noise meter. Immediate disqualification I should imagine? I'd be giving Rathmell a call I think. Going to be bloody annoying going to Kent for nothing. Just shouldn't be like that on a nearly new bike.
  22. Fitted the Kliponoff rack today and took it out for a bit of a test drive as the first proper outing may be a few hours next week to the Welsh National. Looks good, and the car hardly notices it. The back end hardly sagged at all. Does stick out on the left of the car more than I'd like though (about a foot) and not so much on the off-side. Anyone who's got a Kliponoff rack, have you modified it at all? I reckon I need to either: Cut 2 inches off the rear wheel bracket so it can slide further in to the centre bracket (I'd rather have more overhang on the off-side). or Drill a hole through the rear wheel bracket so that the bolt for the front wheel bracket can go straight through it and clamp on to the front wheel bracket. Make sense? Any thoughts?
  23. Hi All, Is there a Beta Rev 50 manual on line somewhere? A mate of mine has a new one. Looking for recommendations for oil, how much, what type recommended. Tried the Beta site, but can't find much on there. Thanks.
