  1. I wish that where the case nsagam but, national attendance is down, our local trials attendance is down. Our club decided to fix it by raising entry fees ,that should work great I took a newbie out this weekend and he broke the fender on my old bike in the first 10 min.& had a few other good crashes. He owns a gym and he got me back for it last night in my work out...I can't hardly walk today I do agree though when I go to a local bike shop with my bike in the back I always draw a crowd
  2. Thanks Alan ,I didn't say it to mean how great we are just to give credit where it use do.Of course it should also go to Mr.Bill for putting us all together. It is cool after the I.T.S. trials these kids go out and ride together for another three or four hours just pushing each other. I think that is some of the stuff they have in Europe... I just hope we keep it up do to our current situation
  3. What Lane didn't mention is that we have Marie Harker to thank for this! She set the hole thing up and has been running it.She and my wife Sarah have been selling hot dogs and snacks at the events,The kids sold raffle tickets "well most of them".Or biggest raffle ticket seller was Tori Carrilo and she doesn't even have kids. Many other people just donated money and I have to thank them for that...We have gotten great support I don't want to get into our kids our better than yours that is just stupid but, those of us that go to the Y.N. come from the same club and I think we all live within 2 hours of each other so state or club makes no difference. Hope to see you all there, we had a great time last year and that's what its all about
  4. At the west youth nationals I think this year Mr.Bill is not even doing the age thing..Just straight up classes novice thru advanced like a regular trial just for kids. This is to get more kids to come, like older ones that can't do the harder lines.I hope it gets attendance up but, I don't agree with it.I will be helping him any way I can though So at our own Y.N. could a five year old ride the six year old class? If my kid was a month younger he only would have been 5 at the start of the year.Could he have rode?I don't think that month would have made a diffrance in his riding. As for there classes over there, now I know why Beta makes that big 50

    Bad News For Us

It passed but, right now it is being held up in courts.Maybe this time the long judecial system will help. I haven't talked to Mr.bill myself so I don't know if this is the issue or not,the owners just don't want us there. There is alot of riding going on at the places around it and there are no fences so there is always some jerks coming threw riding double on there four wheelers with no helmets. These are the neighbors so I don't think they complaining. I hope he can find another place.
  6. My wife got a call Tuesday night that Bill Markham lost his lease on the property he has been using for his schools and events. For those that don't know Mr.Bill is the International Trials School where he puts on great classes for newer riders and awesome smaller trials that have five sections and a short loop.He has brought more people into trials than anybody else I know with his demos and 100's of other trials things he does. There will be no more riding there as of May 1st. His summer series was just about to get started where he was going to have 2 or three trials a month,April 22nd. will be the last on there. This is a big blow to us and everybody here in Southern California not to mention Mr.Bill. I don't know if this is because of neighbors, the new Riverside law or the fact that the owner is trying to sell it I just heard they don't want bikes there any more. Funny how it affects kids..Mine started crying while my wife was telling me since that is where he mainly has learned to ride. This Sucks
  7. Perce, In the D-class I assume the 50 mono means the 50 automatics but, what does the t/s stand for with the 80's?
  8. The Betas change colors every year ,just call up Beta here in the U.S. and they can tell you what diffrent colors will fit from other years. When the euro's say mud gaurds they mean fenders...took me a while to figure that out I say be a man stay with purple,I did
  9. My first trials bike was also a 97 Beta gotta love the purple I had the same issue with the brakes and there really bad when wet.No pads or amount of bleeding helped me.For the front I put on a newer 4 piston AJP front caliper off a newer Beta.It has the same bolt pattern. After that it worked much better Check your rear brakes too on mine the rotor didn't cover all the way to the top of the pads so as the pads wore down the parts that didn't touch the rotor came togther and the pads just pushed against each other not the rotor. Then no brakes I hope that made since.Just file down the tops of the pads. I don't know how your clutch is but, mine was real grabby until I put Elf oil in it, then nice and smooth. Have fun
  10. I know this started for the nationals but, I agree with Alan we need the same classes all across the country.I think here in Ca. we may be getting North and South to agree by both changing one of there classes or maybe if we can't agree on names just do like vintage and do numbers. I heard once from some where that the winner should have like 30 points at the end of the day.I ask you guys that have been around longer, is this what to shoot for when setting up a trial?
  11. Brian, Don't feel bad you had me laughing with the fruit thing My property is full of fruit trees maybe I should genetically engineer some peaple trees.Boy I need to learn how to use the spell check. I'll see you at the Y.N. in July
  12. You got me Brian, I am dislecsic "I know that is not right"I had special classes all though school.. You can see how well they worked. My seven year old spells better than me
  13. As for the nationals the only one I have ridden was Donner in 04 and from what I heard from other peaple it was a pretty tough national.I thought it was great and there was nothing that was scary. As for local events I do think you do need to not make it to tuff for the lower glasses. My kid won the last event in the novice class with 60 something points the next was in the 100's and so on and then a few DNF's.I wonder how many of the peaple will come back. You can kill us all in the upper classes just take it easy on the lower ones, and that means the loop too, so we don't drive any of those new peaple away
  14. Travel time...Fuel prices...the job itself ,I'll start the new home loan process today or maybe I'll answer one of those home loan phone calls I get 10 times a day I get the same thing I am always doing some kind of work in my wifes offices.Another reason she likes me not working. The Harkers said you might make it out I hope you can. We've been riding with them every weekend or just hanging out.Ty always wants to ride more when he can do it with Chase even though Chase has now gotten as good or should I say better than me the little 11 year old punk You might not even get to see Lane,we haven't seen him for months.
  15. Alan, You guys do any work in Ca? I could use some stone work around my pool and your pictures look pretty good
  16. nsagam, I was going to ask you where your name came from.Is your wife making you go back to work? Every time money gets tight I think maybe I should and my wife says "no way" .She likes me having no schedule so we can run off and have lunch or last week the kids where on spring break and she took a half day and we went to Disneyland "we live 45 min. away" Boy my life is tuff
  17. I was wondering what we all do to do this. I am a stay a home Dad or"Mr.Mom" I hate that term though.Does that make my wife a Mrs.Dad?My two year old is napping and I should be doing laundry
  18. nasgam, I love your inthusiasum."I'm sure I spelled that wrong but,I don't know how to use my spell check" I to go into trials second hand from the world round in Donner Ca. in I think 1997.My uncle who was a long time enduro-cross country rider who also rode the I.S.D.E.went to it and was blown away and bought a bike soon after. I watched him ride it for a few years and when he bought a new bike I got his old one.As a A-class"expert"enduro rider I was amazed how hard it was to do stupid little turns and then go over a little log but, I hooked. There where four peaple from our "group" that switched to trials before me from the world rounds in Donner. They have also brought it to other peaple. I'm not happy with how small it is,I just don't think a U.S. world champ. would help this out.Don't get me wrong I do want to see it Alan your right on about noticeing things seems like every other car is a Expedition now that I have one.
  19. I was going to bring up the speedway thing to but,my first post was getting to long.I was watching Speed Channel last year and they had speedway on and there was a U.S. rider there that was in the top 3 or 5 in the world championship and he gets no press in the U.S.. I had never heard of him before or since I stumbled upon the show. I think a trials champ would be the same way just a little blurb in Bits & Pieces in Dirt Bike and thats it. I have also tried a lot of cool things and only done it once.I think that is because I already have enough hobbies and don't want to give them up.We all hate change and changing hobbies can be a major life change not to mention money. The answer....We all have ten kids or so, and have them ride trials! Then they have ten and so on.I think Texas has this plan I'm going to get to work on it tonight, I only have three.
  20. When I dropped my son off at school today I began talking to one of the moms who's son is a few years older than mine and he races motocross. She was going on about how fast he was and about how he does the big triples and that he has a KTM deal where he gets a bike, parts and clothes and who knows what else. After talking for a few minutes it turns out her kid doesn't even win the big races like at Loretta Lynn's only like top five. After that I had to brag that my kid was a trials national champion. She then asked right away who he was sponsored by.I said nobody. She got this look on her face like I then began to explain to her that they sell more CRF 450's in SoCal in one year than all the trials bikes in the hole U.S. and that only like 3 guys in the U.S. that make a living at it. She couldn't understand why we did it if there was no money in it. I tried to tell her how great it was and how wonderful the people are but,she didn't get it and I'm not always the best at expressing myself On the way home I began thinking about motocross and everything said here in this forum and as much as I want to see a U.S. world champ. and would help in any way I could I don't think it is the answer to getting more people into trials.I don't think motocross got more popular because of Danny LaPorte or Brad Lackey "the first U.S. motocross world champs" It was more of Marty Smith,Bob Hannah, later Ricky Johnson,Jeremy Mcgrath and now it gets even more exposure because of Bubba since he is black. My point is,all these guys are in the U.S. for us to see. I don't have the answers by any means but, for my two cents worth here it is. The nationals be more spectator friendly like Donner was or like Lanes idea of having the "exibition" sections later in the day for everybody to watch. I also think about how Supermoto got so big so fast and that was because Jeff Ward and Jeremy Mcgrath where at the first ones and all the bike magazines followed them.It does us no good when only we see Carmicheal standing next to his Scorpa,we need him to ride a national and bring the media with him. I have other little thoughts but, this is getting to long But,I must say we all need to do our part like this last weekend when we did a Demo for Bill Markham at a local bike shops open house. We talked to alot of people about it and there was two guys that I think will make it out and try it,and thats a start.
  21. Alan, We wouldn't miss the Y.N. we had such a great time last year I wish we could make it to the W.R. but, there is know way to make it to Tenn. twice in one year with kids school, work and I just paid 3.09 for diesel on Sunday here in SoCal. I an hoping when we get out of Ca. it will be cheaper. I do hope at the Y.N. you and Lane pick up your debate in person,it has been great, you guys have had me hooked to this forum So do you take Dean fishing? Ty goes with his Grandpa and I think it is great they spend that time togther,he will remember it forever.I have gone a few times and I couldn't handle it, too boring for me.
  22. My first post here, My seven year old son said Geoff Aaron, he has never heard of Raga. He has seen Geoff ride and win so thats what he thought and I have never brought up the name Raga to him. As for the bike he doesn't want a Gas Gas because of Geoff,he wants a Sherco because thats what all the cool older kids ride around here. Alan I'm glad to here Dean would rather go fishing than riding as Ty would go fishing instead of riding any day.If he liked riding as much as fishing he might be well on his way to World Champ.
