  1. Santa Rosa is a nice place to ride a little trials and it really p***** me off people think it is OK to use it for a dump Just so people who are outside of SoCal. know Santa Rosa is in Riverside County and Orange County is where Disney Land is There is also Santa Rosa the city up in Northern California next to where I grew up. The Ca. youth team kids went riding out there on Saturday and here are some better pictures of the area and kids having fun
  2. Ya, I didn't think I was saying anything to get anybody wound up, so much for me being careful
  3. I didn't say anything about them being bank rolled by the factories just that they are the best kids in the world and our experts are regular guys that will be going no higher and some are on there way down. Edit: Ya, Alan that is more of what I meant.
  4. Thanks Dabnabit I was wondering what was happening. Did they pass that new funky class between Int. and Adv.?
  5. OK maybe I should be called a wuss but what I mean is I don't want things to come off different than I intended. On the topic if Sanz roosted a checker I think she should have got more than a yellow card since she could have hurt the guy, I think a total disqualification would be in order. Does she get away with this stuff in Europe?
  6. That's just the SoCal class structure up in northern Ca. where I started with the P.I.T.S. it is different. The Master and expert are switched and INT is called Amateur up north. They are trying to get them together but I don't know where they are at with it at this point. I think the NATC should just say this is how it is going to be and be done with it. Some may change a lot and some a little or none at all but in a year or two we would forget our old way altogether. I must say though when I tell a outsider I ride the Advanced class it makes me sound a lot better than I am
  7. nasqam, What do you think Aaron got to as good as he is and then thought that is good enough and now he is just sitting on the couch? It takes a lot of dedication to even stay at the pro level which is why the class has gotten smaller, if they can't ride and train full time they can't stay at that level. I am also surprised anybody is surprised that the youth beat our experts. Those are obviously the worlds best kids since they made the trip to the U.S. and our experts are regular guys with jobs that are good riders that paid there own way to get there.
  8. So that's why we aren't the worlds best! Too much time at the computer
  9. Your right about that Alan I have talked to many people that read all the B.S. that goes on here and never say a thing. I read for many months before I was brave enough to say anything and then my wife told me not to because as she said things often come off the wrong way so I try to be careful what I say
  10. Tell us more, how many yellow cards did she get. Was she yelling at the checkers? and was she yelling in English? Like I tell my kids it doesn't matter how good you are you have to be a good person first
  11. I don't remember how much the swing arms are exactly I think something like $350.00 U.S. dollars "I don't know where you are from" I would have bought one at that time but, they didn't have any in stock and they where going to be getting some for stock.I have ridden my buddies 06 125 and I could feel a small difference in the turning but, for somebody that already feels comfortable on their bike I don't know if that small bit would be worth the trouble. As for the pegs they are what 3/8 or 1/2 inch lower, not really that much so I don't think they would be too much for anybody and I don't see a down side other than you may hit your feet more but, I don't think that is really a issue with just that little bit lower.
  12. kbell, I can't say it's a Sherco flaw since I am the only one I know say that and a lot of my riding riding buddies have them and love them. It must just be a preference thing....Maybe Cabestany feels the same way coming from a Beta a few years ago. I haven't seen where the pegs are moved to so who knows BTW I was about to buy a 125 swing arm for mine before I traded it
  13. The shorter swing arm would be a 125 swing arm and it would make the bike turn better since the wheel base is shorter and moving the rear wheel in closer to the center of the bike would make the front end lighter. I think this would help everybody not just experts. New foot peg location? are they lower? If they are and with the shorter swing arm and the Keihin carb I wish I would have waited for this instead of getting a 06. I might have kept it then, I didn't feel comfortable on the 06 because the pegs always felt too high.
  14. I don't have one But, I have been around a lot of people that do and not one problem. When I first heard about the fuel injection I thought it seemed pretty scary especially for the first year bike. I am very impressed with them and now I wouldn't buy a 4t that had a carb. Good job Montesa Hope all the new 4t's come with it.
  15. Is that the Dellorto on the Beta web sight? You said it felt better at low revs what about the higher revs, does it rev out any more? I always like to try something different
  16. Nice Making your own custom stuff is always way cool
  17. I figured someone would ask me about the Sherco, I almost didn't put it up there as one of my bikes First off I am not a brand loyalist, in my garage I have one Chevy & one Ford and I have had all four Japanese bikes and KTM's.I thought I would try something different and the new Sherco's look really cool At first I couldn't ride the bike at all until I got taller bars for it then pegs that where lower and further back. Those helped and after about a month I felt I could ride it to my ability. The thing was any time I rode another bike whether it be a Beta, Montesa, or even a Gas Gas they always felt more comfortable mainly do to the fact that to me the pegs just always felt too high on the Sherco and that made me feel unstable. I was going to keep the bike for a full year but, another guy had just got a Beta and didn't like it, I think do to the quick handling so we traded and now we both are very happy I have never heard anybody else say the pegs where to high so maybe it is just me I have ridden a 05 Sherco and the bars do physically turn sharper than the 06 but, the front end is racked in a little more on the 06 so it's a toss up as far as that goes. I did like the motor especially after I dropped the counter shaft by one and put a Keihin carb on it. The power was very smooth and a wide power band
  18. I don't know how to do it either so my wife e-mails me the picture, see if your phone can do that
  19. You didn't ask me but, I'll give you my opinion as have also had both bikes First off I think they are both equally good and they are the two bikes I would be happy to own. The Beta does turn tighter but, with that it does have a tendency to dive to the inside on corners if you are not used to it. The Montesa is much more neutral handling and does nothing weird. To me the Showa suspension on the Montesa feels better than the Betas though not having the linkage on the Beta is very nice. I have never been a fan of the Dellorto carbs that the Montesa has though most trials bikes have them except the Beta which has a Mikuni that leaks fuel unless you work on it. As for it having too heavy of a flywheel weight I didn't feel that and I like both motors. I always used ELF oil in both bikes and the clutches work smoother in both brands and no sticking with the ELF. My trials bikes have been 2000-2001 1997 Beta 2001-2002 2001 Montesa 2003-2006 2003 Beta 2006 21/2 monthes 06 Sherco 2006-present 06 Beta The Montesa is probably a touch more reliable but, I think the two of them are head and shoulders above the rest in reliability. I would buy either bike I found in good shape and at a good price
  20. The Montesa is more reliable than both of them. They are a little more heavy but, ride just as nice if not better and this is coming from a guy that has a Beta If it's in good shape I would get one

    Won't Start

I don't know about the pipe cleaning but, after you did it did you blow air with a air hose both forward and backwards threw the pipe to make sure it is not clogged up with some of the stuff that broke loose? I only say it because on my sons GG 50 he dented the pipe which is double walled and about a 2 months later it did about the same thing as your bike After many hours of checking things I had the pipe off and decided to blow some air threw it and a big chunk of packing came flying out when I blew threw it backwards which I think broke loose in the dented area Just a thought since it sounds like the same symptoms Good luck.
  22. That sounds way too familiar, wore out the sole of my boot starting his bike. Got him a Beta 80 and now he can start it easy I always thought it was too rich on the bottom end but, nobody carried jets that small for the bike.
  23. after hearing more what you would use them for I would say go for the Sherco as they do have more power than a Beta and also a high and low range which like the Gas Gas it helps out. I don't think you would want the head aches of the Gas Gas. A funny thing, I just had to stop writing this post to fish my kids bicycle out of the pool. He thought it would be cool to do tricks into the pool Fortunately he was smart enough to use his old bike from K-mart and not his good one I think he is working on a "naked indian air"
  24. I can't speak about the Sherco but, I had a Beta then a Gas Gas for my son. When my son just turned five we got him a Beta and it worked good for him for his first trials bike. Compared with the Gas Gas the clutch engages a lot smoother making it easier to do tight turns and ride smooth. I find the drum brakes are good for a new rider as they aren't so grabby and the new rider doesn't have to worry about grabbing to much front brake. The Beta hasn't changed for years. The problem with the Beta was once he got better it just didn't have enough power to do the harder sections. When he was six we got him a Gas Gas. I had a love, hate relationship with it. I loved it's power, suspenshion, handling and the brake let him do nose wheelies I hated how unreliable the thing was. I worked on it way more than my bike, there was always something wrong with it All the other parents I have talked to feel the same way, love how well they work but, hate how much they break. The problem is if they get serious about trials there's no other good choice. Boy I'm glad he's on a Beta 80 now.
  25. My son's bike was the same way always a pain to start once warmed up..The only way I would get it to start was to hold the throttle wide open, then it would usually start after a few good kicks. It also worked better to put it in neutral first.
