  1. I've just downloaded and read the user manual for the 04 Gasser. I don't know if other bikes have the same warranty restrictions but this one is good. "Obligation of the purchaser" "GG shall be entitled to refuse to accept warranty claims if and to the extent that:" "g) the vehicle has been used for competitions, races or any attempts at any record whatsoever." Now isn't that a great get out clause for a competition bike manufacturer?
  2. I know this is not how it should be done but I once had a problem getting some very old wheel bearings out of a Beta wheel and resorted to welding a big nut on to the bearing that gave me something to hit from the opposite side. This knackered the bearings but they were knackered anyway so who cares. I would do this (and did) only as a last resort but it worked no problem.
  3. Boofont's in my club and he rode around the pre 65 trial with someones permission. He said anyone could. Pass it on.

Just watched it again. Is that Perce's tongue hanging out? What concentration.

Winter is beautiful here too it's the rain in Spring and Autumn that are not so nice. Oh and the midgies in summer.
  6. Monty You won't believe this. I went to TNT in Aberdeen to collect it on Friday and opened the box and found that it was a 200cc model. You'll remember that it was a 300 I ordered so back it went. I was seriously p***ed off. The dealer called me in the early evening and apologised and promised to get the 300 out first thing Tuesday. He thinks I'll get it on Friday sometime just in time for the TC trial. On a side note. As expected it had spare plastics, bum bag, tools & spare decals. I wonder what happens to these then you buy a bike from a UK dealer.

It does so I won't even start. Do a search. You'll find this topic time and time again.

Doesn't it just make you feel like moving to Scotland? Where trials really are trials. Another great job Andy.
  9. I guess Gas Gas' future will depend very much on how they get on with thier quad in the USA. They've spent a lot developing it and are now pushing it heavily in the US. As you know that's a massive market if you can gain a foot hold.
  10. Monty Python Who are M&P and where can I find them. I like the idea of these wee beasties.

The problen with a combustion chamber off to one side would be the size of it. For a good sharp responce and high revs you need a fairly high compression ratio and that wouldn't be possible with the volume involved in an off cylinder combustion chamber. Unless they've done something quite trick which is alway possible.
  12. I did my one with paint shop and just masked the area I wanted to remain in colour and then reduce the saturation of the rest to zero. Quick and easy with good looking results.
  13. I voted not to bad but only because of the rider. If one of the real top guy were riding it could do very well.

Still no proper view of theleft hand side. The close up of the left hand side of the engine shows the spark plug entering at on the horizontal plane in a funny position. I'd be interested to know what's happening on the head with regard to valve gear and that plug position.

Sorry to disagree with you again WB but to me a hell of a lot has changed. In fact almost everything so why not the suspension. It looks similar due to the fact that it keeps basically the same geometry but little else IMHO.

It's a 3 MegaPixel model and to get an idea of picture quality, this is the last photo he took with it

Folks A colleague of mine is selling his digital camera off cheap as he has to stay in hospital for a long time so won't be needing it. Would you be interested?
  18. Nice work Al. I've read the whole story as it's unfolded and enjoyed it very much. The press article is the sort of thing we all like to see. It's a shame that we can't get that sort of coverage from the press here in the UK too. I spend quite a lot of time in the USA through work and am amazed that trials can't get a better foot hold what with the huge growth of 4 wheelers you guy has seen recently.
  19. Are you sure you measured the right head?
  20. Very impressive Ian. I wanted to do something like this put couldn't be bothered. Great work. It looks like the bike is as small and well proportioned as the photo made me believe. I was wondering if the photos were deceptive but they're not. I'm not a Montesa lover but I could be. Now all we need is a ride on one.

What the **** are you talking about WB.

The cylinder looks nice a small and low on the visible side but I can't quite see where the plug lead ends so don't know where the actual top of the cylinder finishes. There is certainly more on the left side that we can't see. It fills the frame where as this side has a lot of height above the cylinder.

Now then, is that what you expected? (front page photos of new Mont) I expected not to like the look but am pleasently surprised. If doesn't look any bigger or for that matter much heavier than the Montesa 2T. The frame design looks early gas gas but in Aluminium. I guess the frame had to get smaller in dimension to keep the whole thing small.
  24. When I was riding down in Cape Town Toofasttim told me about a couple of guys killed outright in a low speed head on during a trial. Both had helmets and were riding the trial but the course had a dual direction route. Tim may correct some of this but it goes to show just how dangerous it is for bikes to be running in opposite directions even at low speeds. There must only be a few access points where people on trail bikes can get on to the hillside so Andy's point of telling folks in the programme and the addition of signs at these main access points would surely go a long way to stopping it.

I'll be down around lunch time Saturday and camping for the night. Well I'm going to pitch a tent but from what I've heard I may spend all night drinking and not get to use it.
