  1. TLTEL I am totally confused by your advice! How will changing the needle clip position affect the pre-mix oil coming up from the crankcase? This should be interesting! Respectfully
  2. What oil and hou much you using? Olive Garden Salad Oil 10:1 Ratio with two breadsticks

  4. Yes a did, all I saw was a blood soaked american redneck with no hair looking back .... boy LOL .............. By yall..........
  5. Thanks for posting some pictures. The pictures are many years apart in age, a VERY young Jordi with hair and an older Karl. Maybe try and post some pictures of Jordi say 5 > 10 years ago and they look alike. Jordi without hair looks like Karl.
  6. Is Jordi Tarres and Karl Pilkington one and the same person. Did Jordi get a face lift, Or is this Jordi's stupid cousin? Anybody else see the resemblance between these two? BillyT

RP I totally agree. Tweak with oil viscosity and the Beta's suspension is great. Spend more time practicing. Cheers

    Beta Suspension

Hi Several other 2012 Beta's"? Have you modified yours? I am not the one complaining about the Beta's suspension. I like the Beta's suspension. Maybe you should read all of the posts on this topic to get the gist. Cheers.

    Beta Suspension

There is no compression adjustment only pre-load to the spring. The other adjustment is for rebound.

To each their own I guess. Do you have a stock throttle cam, stock valves?

Dan Go to the four stroke forum. Go to "What is the future, two stroke of four stroke". Go to page 4, should be there. Cheers BillyT
  15. Hey Steve I am waiting on a 2012 Beta 300cc 4T. Should be here in a week or so. I ordered it with the factory Titanium silencer and the aftermarket shock that American Beta offers on their web site. Should be interesting. How are you getting on with yours? I will update you when I get mine. Cheers mon ami.
  16. Been in/around trials for over thirty years. Thought I had seen it all heard it all! So, I met this guy at a motorcycle store here in the USA, he heard my Scots accent and starts to chat with me. He starts talking about trials and how when he was stationed in the UK during the second WWII he and his fellow air force buddies used to hang around some British trials guys. So far so good, now here is where it gets FUNKY he swears up and down that one of the bikes he saw and had a go on was a diesel yes diesel engine....... Is this even possible? I mean can one have single cylinder diesel engine let a lone put one on a trials bike? This guy was old but still had his wits about him and could talk two stroke and four stroke technicalities till the cows came home. Any diesel guys out there that can comment on this, is this guy yanking my chain or was there some attempt by a backshed mechanic in the UK during the WWII in installing a diesel engine on a trials bike?

Guys Just as a reference point to what I an trying to say about getting energy in to the front forks and then getting a percentage of it back in the rebound stroke check out my video post (four stroke forum) of me on my old 4T Beta Evo. I shoot this video so I could check out the action and balance of my forks to the rear suspension a couple of years ago. Look how little energy goes into the the front forks and the rebound stroke. The bike is alive and moving quite easy from side to side. Cheers

Dan The oil viscosity variability suggestions I make depend on where you live i.e. weather. In Arizona we sometimes rode in 110 F I have also ridden in 40 F weather. This weather extremes will play havoc in your suspension performance. Livlob is correct in following the manufacturers recommended oil levels, the viscosity however is up to you! I start with 5 weight in the rebound and 7.5 in the compression.

Guys a little Scots wisdom here. The forks are dead until you put energy into them. So, with that been said you can put the lightest oil one can find into the rebound fork all day long it will just sit there until you put some energy into it So where does this energy come from? It comes from riding of course but more importantly it comes from having the front forks compress The more the front fork compresses the more energy will be stored in the spring The fork spring will now will try to release this energy by rebounding and the rebound oil will slow down the return energy So, the moral of this story is the light viscosity of rebound fork oil has to work in harmony with the compression fork oil and spring. You can put in light rebound oil but if you can not compress the forks due to a heavy compression oil there will be little to no return energy. There is a delicate balance between fork compression oil and rebound oil viscosity. Try changing the compression oil to a lighter oil as well as the rebound oil
  20. Dave I stand corrected. My point is still valid though! I have been riding or should I say it has been riding me a Beta Factory 300c 2T and it tends to get away from me........ I like the slowness and silkiness of the 4T and if I over shoot something which I tend to do a release of the throttle tends to sort me out on a 4T. So, Dave, a quite hogmany in Kelowna? Awe the best for new years to you and yours.
  21. To me the real question is not about being "green" or maintenance costs but rather do I like engine breaking or not when riding a section on a 4T vs a 2T! The answer is YES..... That is why I am going back to riding a 2012 Beta Evo 300c 4T. At my age and skill level the engine breaking is a must! BillyT
  22. Mark Yes it is all relative and one has to use some common sense when doing this heat/cool technique. Saying "get it hot" is all relative to whom ever is doing the "getting it hot". The guy I saw doing this got it so hot it was almost changing colour no wonder the cool water he poured over it (the water came out of his ice ladened cooler) caused a rapid drop and subsequent hairline cracking of the disk and then when he rode placing stress on the disk going down a BIG hill BINGO! over the bars he went as the brake pads caught on the crack. Not good...............
